Field studies to determine the effects of chemicals on earthworm communities are generally conducted according to International Organization for Standardization standard 11268-3 (and later comments). However, statistical test procedures suggested in the guideline are frequently criticized, mainly for 2 reasons 1) Earthworm abundances are count data and often do not fulfill requirements for multiple t tests (normal distribution and homogeneity of variance), and 2) the resulting toxicity metrics of multiple testing procedures (no/lowest-observed-effect concentrations [NOEC/LOEC]) fail to adequately detect the actual level of effects. Recently, a new method to overcome these shortcomings was presented by the introduction of the closure principle computational approach test (CPCAT). We applied this statistical method to assess chemical effects on abundance in a large dataset of 26 earthworm field studies (with up to 3 test chemical application rates) and an additional extended study with 6 application rates. A comparative analysis was provided considering results of well-established multiple testing approaches (Dunnett's test) with particular consideration of the degree of overdispersion found in these data. It was shown that the CPCAT detects substantially more effects in earthworm field tests as statistically significant than standard t test approaches. This lowered the LOEC/NOEC for many chemical treatments to control comparisons. As a consequence, the statistically detected NOECs/LOECs were often set at lower percentage deviations between control and chemical treatment. To systemically synthesise the evidence on the most effective nursing interventions to prevent pressure injuries among critical care patients.

Although pressure injury (PI) prevention is a focus of nursing care in critical care units, hospital-acquired pressure injuries continue to occur in these settings.

A systematic review of literature guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) and Synthesis without meta-analysis (SWiM) guidelines.

Four electronic databases were searched for relevant studies. Included studies were screened and then critically appraised using the appropriate Joanna Briggs Institute appraisal tool. Data were analysed and reported using a narrative synthesis.

The review included 14 studies. Randomised controlled trials, quasi-experimental, case series and cross-sectional studies were included. The review identified four broad categories of interventions that are the most effective for preventing pressure injuries (a) PI prevention bundducated and ensure fundamental strategies are routinely implemented to improve mobility and offload pressure.

Nursing interventions should consist of evidence-based 'bundles' and be adapted to patients' needs. To prevent pressure injuries among critically ill patients, nurses must be competent and highly educated and ensure fundamental strategies are routinely implemented to improve mobility and offload pressure.

Nasolabial Cyst (NC) or Klestadt's cyst is a relatively rare soft tissue developmental lesion of nasal alar region accounting for 0.7% of all non-odontogenic cysts. NC usually presents as an asymptomatic swelling located in the anterior region of the maxilla lateral to midline-resulting in obliteration of nasolabial sulcus, nasal vestibule and maxillary labial sulcus and facial asymmetry-often observed on early stages by most patients due to cosmetics issues.

A 76-year-old woman was referred for evaluation of an asymptomatic facial swelling in the left upper lip region lasting 20years. Extraoral clinical examination showed a left-sided swelling lateral to midline near to the alar base resulting in facial asymmetry. Intraoral clinical examination revealed the presence of a single painless well-defined nodular, sessile, non-tender swelling covered by normal oral mucosa, and located in the upper labial mucosa in the left incisor's region. An excisional biopsy was performed, and microscopic examination revealed a cystic cavity lined by cuboidal to columnar epithelium with mucous cells. The underlying connective tissue showed chronic inflammatory infiltrate close to muscular tissue. Patient recovery was uneventful, and there are no signs of local recurrence in a 2-year clinical follow-up.

This has led to the detection of OPFRs in various environments including the Arctic. Two of the most prevalent OPFRs found in the Arctic are tris(2-chloroisopropyl) phosphate (TCPP), and 2-ethylhexyl diphenyl phosphate (EHDPP). The impacts of exposure to OPFRs on Arctic organisms is poorly understood. The objective of the present study was to determine the effects of exposure to TCPP, EHDPP, and a mixture of OPFRs on gene expression patterns in Atlantic cod, Gadus morhua. Precision-cut liver slices from Atlantic cod in vitro were exposed to either TCPP or EHDPP alone or in a mixture and sampled at 2 different time points to quantify gene expression patterns using RNA sequencing. Regenerative medicine strategies for kidney diseases are largely categorized into the transplantation of reconstructed kidney organs and cell therapies. Reconstruction is being attempted by hPSC-derived kidney lineage cells with various strategies, such as self-organization, interspecies blastocyst complementation, utilization of a xenogeneic organ niche, decellularization and repopulation, and 3D bioprinting. However, cell therapies using extrarenal stem cells, such as MSCs, and renal stem or progenitor cells derived from embryonic and adult kidneys or differentiated from hPSCs have been investigated in animal models of both acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease.
