We found unexpectedly that 200 nm-NP incorporated with all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) showed a much better therapeutic effect than those with unloaded 200 nm-NPs, although ATRA alone was reported to worsen the inflammation. PTX is known as a microtubule-targeting agent with a primary molecular mechanism that disrupts the dynamics of microtubules and induces mitotic arrest and cell death. Simultaneously, other mechanisms have been evaluated in many studies. Since the anticancer activity of PTX was discovered, it has been used to treat many cancer patients and has become one of the most extensively used anticancer drugs. Regrettably, the resistance of cancer to PTX is considered an extensive obstacle in clinical applications and is one of the major causes of death correlated with treatment failure. Therefore, the combination of PTX with other drugs could lead to efficient therapeutic strategies. Here, we summarize the mechanisms of PTX, and the current studies focusing on PTX and review promising combinations.Even though allogeneic stem cell transplantation is the most intensive treatment for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), chemo-resistant leukemia relapse is still one of the most common causes of death for these patients, as is transplant-related mortality, i.e., graft versus host disease, infections, and organ damage. These relapse patients are not always candidates for additional intensive therapy or re-transplantation, and many of them have decreased quality of life and shortened expected survival. The efficiency of azacitidine for treatment of posttransplant AML relapse has been documented in several clinical trials. Valproic acid is an antiepileptic fatty acid that exerts antileukemic activity through histone deacetylase inhibition. The combination of valproic acid and all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) is well tolerated even by unfit or elderly AML patients, and low-toxicity chemotherapy (e.g., azacitidine) can be added to this combination. The triple combination of azacitidine, valproic acid, and ATRA may therefore represent a low-intensity and low-toxicity alternative for these patients. Managing acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in patients receiving treatment with vitamin K antagonists (VKA) or non-VKA oral anticoagulants (NOACs) is difficult and the challenge this poses for stroke telemedicine remains unexplored.

We analyzed data from a random sample (

= 1500) of all teleneurological consultations conducted between July 2015 and December 2017. Management of patients suffering AIS with and without prior oral anticoagulation treatment was characterized, including potential vs. actual treatment with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) and reasons for withholding it.

= 359 patients had suffered an AIS, of whom 63 (17.5%) were under treatment with oral anticoagulants (VKA,

= 24; NOAC,

= 39). Administration of IVT was more common in patients who had not received prior oral anticoagulation treatment (20.3% vs. 3.2%,

< 0.001). NOAC intake was the primary reason for withholding IVT in 37% of orally anticoagulated patients who were found potentially eligible for IVT. Furthermore, patients under oral anticoagulation tended to be transported to the comprehensive stroke center more often (23.8% vs. 13.9%,

= 0.056).

Our results suggest that the emission and associated mutual interactions of dislocation loops around the void is the primary mechanism of void collapse, irrespective of the temperature. The rate of void collapse is almost insensitive to the temperature, and the process is not thermally activated until a high temperature (∼1200-1500 K) is reached. Our simulations reveal that, at elevated temperatures, dislocation motion is assisted by vacancy diffusion and consequently the void is observed to collapse continuously without showing appreciable strain hardening around it. In contrast, at low and ambient temperatures (1 and 300 K), void collapse is delayed after an initial stage of closure due to significant strain hardening around the void. Furthermore, we observe that the dislocation network produced during void collapse remains the sample even after complete void collapse, as was observed in a recent experiment of nickel-base superalloy after hot isostatic pressing.Clostridioides difficile is the most common pathogen responsible for hospital-acquired diarrhea. In our study, the results of 872 C. difficile positive stool samples were used to describe the epidemiological situation affected by a change in the prescription of fluoroquinolone antibiotics. In a total, 93 of strains were typed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and capillary gel electrophoresis. Between years 2014 and 2018 the decline in the fluoroquinolones consumption was 69.3 defined daily dose (DDD) per 1000 patient-days (from 103.3 to 34.0), in same period CDI incidence declined by 1.3 cases per 10,000 patient-bed days (from 5.6 to 4.3). This paper proposes time-series forecasting for short-term load prediction to unveil the load forecast benefits through different statistical and mathematical models, such as artificial neural networks, auto-regression, and ARIMA. It targets the problem of excessive computational load when dealing with time-series data. It also presents a business case that is used to analyze different clusters to find underlying factors of load consumption and predict the behavior of customers based on different parameters.
