Various irritants facilitate development of dermatitis in xerotic skin. As zinc deficiency plays a role in the development of irritant dermatitis, we measured serum zinc levels in 25 patients with xerotic dermatitis due to treatment with EGFRIs. Of these patients, nine were treated with EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors and 16 were treated with anti-EGFR antibody alone or in combination with other anticancer agents. Serum zinc levels of all patients were lower than the normal range of >80 μg/dL, with a mean ± SD serum zinc level of 56.4 ± 11.7 μg/dL. These were correlated with serum magnesium levels in patients. As the serum magnesium level is known to be reduced by the inhibition of EGFR, a similar mechanism may also be involved in decreasing the serum zinc level. Among 21 patients treated with zinc supplementation for more than 2 months, xerotic dermatitis markedly improved, with an increase of serum zinc levels in 16 patients. The other five patients exhibited no significant improvement in their skin condition, and insufficient and unstable increase in serum zinc levels. In conclusion, zinc supplementation may be beneficial in supportive care for patients with EGFRI-induced xerotic dermatitis. In Parkinson's disease, both motor and neuropsychiatric complications unfold as a consequence of both incremental striatal dopaminergic denervation and intensifying long-term dopaminergic treatment. Together, this leads to 'dopaminergic sensitization' steadily increasing motor and behavioral responses to dopaminergic medication that result in the detrimental sequalae of long-term dopaminergic treatment. We review the clinical presentations of 'dopaminergic sensitization', including rebound off and dyskinesia in the motor domain, and neuropsychiatric fluctuations and behavioral addictions with impulse control disorders and dopamine dysregulation syndrome in the neuropsychiatric domain. We summarize state-of-the-art deep brain stimulation, and show that STN-DBS allows dopaminergic medication to be tapered, thus supporting dopaminergic desensitization. In this framework, we develop our integrated debatable viewpoint of "changing gears", that is we suggest rethinking earlier use of subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation, when the first clinical signs of dopaminergic motor or neuropsychiatric complications emerge over the steadily progressive disease course. In this sense, subthalamic deep brain stimulation may help reduce longitudinal motor and neuropsychiatric symptom expression - importantly, not by neuroprotection but by supporting dopaminergic desensitization through postoperative medication reduction. Therefore, we suggest considering STN-DBS early enough before patients encounter potentially irreversible psychosocial consequences of dopaminergic complications, but importantly not before a patient shows first clinical signs of dopaminergic complications. We propose to consider neuropsychiatric dopaminergic complications as a new inclusion criterion in addition to established motor criteria, but this concept will require validation in future clinical trials. Survivorship care plans (SCPs) are recommended as a tool for the care of cancer survivors. SCPs have been implemented with a multidisciplinary approach; however, the specific role of nurses in the SCP is unknown. Our aim is to determine the role of nurses and their degree of participation in cancer SCPs.

Integrative review of the literature with systematic methodology.

PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Web of Science, Cochrane and Cancerlit databases were reviewed. Articles published up to March 2021 were included.

Of the 2,638 publications identified, 22studies met our inclusion criteria. Quality of included studies was assessed using Joanna Briggs Institute quality assessment tools.

The studies showed that nurses play a key role and participate in different phases of the SCP, including design, delivery, monitoring and coordination among different levels of care, with varying degrees of involvement and responsibility; design and delivery of the SCP are the phases with the highest nurse participation (18 ouf an advanced practice nurse as SCP coordinator to improve communication between cancer specialists and primary care providers and to promote continued care throughout the different phases of cancer survivorship, including long-term survival.

Better understanding of the experience of people living with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is essential to identify gaps in current patient care and inform healthcare decision-making.

To describe the patient experience of individuals with HS, including their path to diagnosis, symptom control, treatments, healthcare utilization, patient needs and impact on quality of life.

The Hidradenitis Suppurativa Patient Experience survey was created, extensively reviewed and disseminated through engaging HS-related patient organizations, physician groups and social media groups.

In total, 537 respondents completed the survey; the mean age was 38years (range 14-73years) and 95% (510 of 537) were female. The mean number of treatment types per respondent was 15, and included antibacterial soaps (93.3%; 431 of 462), avoidance of tight clothing (90.9%; 419 of 462), use of oral antibiotics (79.7%; 368 of 462), nonprescription drugs (79.7%; 368 of 462) and topical antibiotics (77.1%; 356 of 262). Pain was poorly controlled in 46% of respondents (184 of 401). HS had a negative impact on the ability to work and attend school for 81% of respondents (337 of 415), with 59% (245 of 415) missing at least 2days of work a month and 16% (66 of 415) missing >11days of work. The mean number of misdiagnoses per respondent was three and the median time to diagnosis was 10years.

Individuals with HS experience a delay in diagnosis and have suboptimal control of the disease. We propose 11 recommendations to improve diagnosis, treatment and quality of life for individuals living with HS.
