Water collection from fog has received much attention to meet the challenges of scarcity of clean drinking water in desert and arid regions. Currently, solar-thermal technology is being used as an efficient, sustainable, and low-cost method for water desalination to produce clean water. To collect the clean water, in recent years, most researchers have designed the structure of water collection surfaces. However, the heat released during the liquefaction process of droplets has an adverse effect on the condensation of droplets, and thus affecting the water collection efficiency. Here, in order to improve water collection efficiency, a radiative cooling layer is introduced on the back of the collection surface to dissipate the heat released during droplet liquefaction. The radiative cooling layer, consisting of poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropene) embedded with SiO2 and CaMoO4 nanoparticles, can theoretically cool 18.1 °C below the ambient temperature in the daytime. With the addition of cooling coating on the back of the water collection surface, the water harvesting efficiency can be increased by 43-52%. However, these sensors need to be closely attached to skin, which is unsuitable for long-term dynamic health monitoring of the patients, such as infants or persons with burn injuries. Here, a wearable capacitive sensor based on the capacitively coupled effect for healthcare monitoring in noncontact mode is reported. It consists of a ring-shaped top electrode, a disk-shaped bottom electrode, and a porous dielectric layer with low permittivity. This unique design enhanced the capacitively coupled effect of the sensor, which enables a high noncontact detectivity of capacitance change. When an object approaches the sensor, its capacitance change (ΔC/C i = -38.7%) is 3-5 times higher than that of previously reported sensors. Meanwhile, the sensor is insensitive to the stretching strain and pressure (ΔC/C i less then 5%) due to the unique ring-shaped electrode and the incompressible closed cells of the porous dielectric material, respectively. Finally, various human physiological signals (pulse and respiratory) are recorded in noncontact mode, where a person wears loose and soft clothes implanted with the sensor. Pharmacists globally are providing services amidst pandemic, including TRIAGE services, seeing patients and reducing the patients' burden on health care facilities such as hospitals and GP practices. Pharmacists are also working to providing home deliveries, as well as dealing with the increasing number of patients coming through to pharmacies with the other ailments. Pharmacy associations have issued their guidelines and in this editorial, several global examples of pharmacists' role in the COVID 19 are being discussed. Pakistan is used as a country case study in this editorial. The editorial also elaborates how pharmacists in the UK and Pakistan have teamed up together to compile 10-steps protection guidelines for the pharmacy teams in Pakistan in English and Urdu language. This 10-point guidance educates community pharmacies for safety and standard operation as the number of patients in the country continues to rise. These guidelines are endorsed by the government and private bodies. These can be adopted and adapted by any country; keeping in view their laws and regulations. © The Author(s) 2020.The Castile blackberry (Rubus glaucus Benth) is an Andean crop with nutritional and antioxidant properties. The intake of this fruit potentiates the immune system and reduces the risk of developing degenerative and cardiovascular diseases. However, the Castile blackberry is one of the most perishable fruits due to its high respiration rate and the lack of protectant peel, making this fruit susceptible to microbial attack and rapid deterioration. The objective of this research was to estimate the shelf life of Castile blackberry (R. glaucus Benth) with bacterial cellulose coating from Komagataeibacter xylinus, in order to improve the physicochemical and nutritional characteristics. Blackberries with bacterial cellulose coating at 4°C have extended its shelf life to 9 days and preserved the initial characteristics of texture, color, smell, and taste. © 2020 The Authors. Adiponectin plays a major role in the modulation of several metabolic pathways, and asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) has been suggested to be predictive of AF and associated adverse events. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of fish oil supplementation on circulating adiponectin and ADMA in overweight or obese patients with persistent AF. In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 80 overweight or obese (body mass index (BMI) ≥ 25 kg/m2) patients with persistent AF were randomly assigned to two groups to receive either 2 g/day fish oil or placebo, for 8 weeks. Serum levels of adiponectin and ADMA, and anthropometric indexes were measured. This study showed that serum adiponectin concentrations increased significantly following fish oil supplementation compared with the placebo group (13.15 ± 7.33 vs. 11.88 ± 6.94 µg/ml; p = .026). A significant reduction was also observed in serum ADMA levels in the fish oil compared with the placebo group following the intervention (0.6 ± 0.13 vs. 0.72 ± 0.15 µmol/L; p = .001). The changes in serum adiponectin and ADMA concentrations remained significant after adjustments for baseline values, age, sex, and changes of BMI and waist circumference (p = .011 and p = .001, respectively). In conclusion,  8 weeks supplementation with fish oil increased serum adiponectin and decreased ADMA concentrations in overweight or obese patients with persistent AF. As adiponectin and ADMA are suggested to be involved in many pathways associated with AF, the current findings might be promising in the clinical management of this disease, an issue that needs further investigations. © 2020 The Authors. Food Science & Nutrition published by Wiley Periodicals, Inc.This study was aimed to evaluate nutritional and antinutritional contents of complementary foods from locally available and affordable raw materials (maize, pea, and anchote) grown in Western Ethiopia. The six formulated complementary diets analyzed for their proximate, mineral, and antinutritional continents were compared with Codex standards. The mineral ratios and molar ratios of the formulated diets were also evaluated and compared with each standard values. Six formulations were generated by d-optimal mixture design. The formulated ingredient ranges 45%-61% maize, 23%-31% pea, and 14%-28% anchote. Design-Expert® 6 (Stat-Ease) was used to constrain the three components. The formulated diets ranged from 14.92% to 20.99%, 5.95% to 9.94%, 2.75% to 3.41%, and 59.10% to 66.22% of protein, fat, fiber, and utilizable carbohydrate, respectively. Mineral contents (mg/100 g) of the formulated diet ranged from 225.45 to 261.32, 11.48 to 12.61, 2.73 to 3.00, 357.92 to 391.13, 298.55 to 332.63, 252.00 to 278.01, and 44.26 to 51.56 for calcium, iron, zinc, phosphorous, potassium, sodium and magnesium, respectively. The proximate and mineral contents of the formulated diet 5 meet the Codex standards, except the fat contents of the complementary food standards. The molar ratios of the formulated diets in this study were below standard reference and which show the high mineral bioavailability in all the formulated diets. The results of the study revealed that the formulated diets contain very low antinutritional factors and high mineral bioavailability. The paper's findings show that the complementary food formulated from maize, pea, and anchote flours particularly diet 5 may be suitable to alleviate protein energy malnutrition and it can be used as a substitute for the expensive commercial complementary food. © 2020 The Authors. Food Science & Nutrition published by Wiley Periodicals, Inc.The effects of different drying methods (hot air drying at 40, 60, and 80°C, and foam-mat drying) on the characteristics (FT-IR, zeta potential, conductivity, color, rheology, texture, and emulsifying) of extracted cress seed gum (CSG) have been investigated. The models described the rheological behavior of CSG with high R 2, but in general Herschel-Bulkley's model has higher values of R 2 and lower values of RMSE compared to the fitted models. The HD 80 has high amount of viscosity. This means that as the temperature rises, the gel network is getting stronger, and gums from the internal CSG sections have a stronger gel network. Results of strain sweep test demonstrated that storage ( G LVE ' ) and loss modulus ( G LVE ″ ) for all solutions except foam-mat drying in the linear area showed solid-like behavior. The parameters of strain sweep (Gf, τf, τy, G LVE ″ , G LVE ' , YLVE) increased with increasing temperatures. Brefeldin A Frequency sweep test showed that storage ( G LVE ' ) was greater than loss modulus ( G LVE ″ ) and samples have a solid behavior but foam-mat drying exhibited liquid behavior. Increasing temperature has a direct impact on texture, so hardness and adhesion are increased consequently.
