The translocation affects pairing and recombination of chromosomes 6 and 10. Besides the translocation detected in Draper, no other structural genomic divergences were detected across tetraploid cultivars and highly inter-crossable wild diploid species. These findings and resources will facilitate new genetic and comparative genomic studies in Vaccinium and the development of genomic assisted selection strategy for this crop.The prevention and early detection of venous thromboembolism (VTE), including pulmonary embolism (PE), is essential in daily medical practice. We previously reported the risk of VTE in patients with autoimmune blistering disease (AIBD). We have also experienced multiple cases of pemphigus or pemphigoid that developed severe complications related to abnormal blood coagulation other than VTE. This study summarizes and discusses those cases. Nine patients with AIBD developed thromboembolism and/or bleeding; these included (some patients overlapped) six patients with VTE, including five patients with PE; three patients with severe bleeding; one patient with sudden critical limb ischaemia resulting in thigh amputation; and one patient with cerebral infarction. Although five patients developed PE, only one had apparent respiratory symptoms with PE, and a second developed severe bleeding during the treatment for PE. Clinicians should be aware of the systemic complications related to abnormal blood coagulation when treating patients with AIBD.Obesity is associated with lipid droplet (LD) accumulation, dysregulated lipolysis and chronic inflammation. Previously, the caspase recruitment domain-containing protein 9 (CARD9) has been identified as a potential contributor to obesity-associated abnormalities including cardiac dysfunction. In the current study, we explored a positive feedback signalling cycle of dysregulated lipolysis, CARD9-associated inflammation, impaired lipophagy and excessive LD accumulation in sustaining the chronic inflammation associated with obesity. C57BL/6 WT and CARD9-/- mice were fed with normal diet (ND, 12% fat) or a high fat diet (HFD, 45% fat) for 5 months. Staining of LDs from peritoneal macrophages (PMs) revealed a significant increase in the number of cells with LD and the number of LD per cell in the HFD-fed WT but not CARD9-/- obese mice. Rather, CARD9 KO significantly increased the mean LD size. WT obese mice showed down regulation of lipolytic proteins with increased diacylglycerol (DAG) content, and CARD9 KO normalized DAG with restored lipolytic protein expression. The build-up of DAG in the WT obese mice is further associated with activation of PKCδ, NF-κB and p38 MAPK inflammatory signalling in a CARDD9-dependent manner. Inhibition of adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL) by Atglistatin (Atg) resulted in similar effects as in CARD9-/- mice. Interestingly, CARD9 KO and Atg treatment enhanced lipophagy. In conclusion, HFD feeding likely initiated a positive feedback signalling loop from dysregulated lipolysis, CARD9-dependent inflammation, impaired lipophagy, to excessive LD accumulation and sustained inflammation. CARD9 KO and Atg treatment protected against the chronic inflammation by interrupting this feedforward cycle.
This study aimed to explore the effect of different administration routes of a low dose of tirofiban on acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients with successful recanalization after endovascular treatment (EVT).
This is a cohort study that retrospectively analyzed data of patients with AIS who underwent EVT and achieved successful recanalization from a prospective registry. Eligible patients were divided into three groups according to their use of tirofiban. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to balance baseline bias. Safety outcomes included any intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) and symptomatic ICH (sICH). We included 821 patients with 306 in the no tirofiban group, 202 in the IA + IV tirofiban group, and 313 in the IV tirofiban group. After PSM, each group included 101 patients with balanced baseline characteristics. There was no difference between the IV tirofiban group and the no tirofiban group in terms of safety and efficacy outcomes (all p > 0.05). Compared with no tirofiban, IA + IV tirofiban group did not increase ICH (30.7% vs. 37.6%, p > 0.05) and sICH (6.9% vs. 17.8%, p> 0.05) whereas reduced 3-month mortality (14.3% vs. 28.7%, p< 0.05) and improved 3-month modified Rankin Scale (median 3 vs. 4, p< 0.05).

We examined patient satisfaction with postoperative chest appearance after Nuss procedure and analyzed the factors for postoperative low satisfaction.
We retrospectively reviewed data of 133 patients who underwent the Nuss procedure from 2000 to 2016. Their medical records, X-rays, and computed tomography scans were evaluated. Haller index and concave rate were used as objective indices of the deformity. The questionnaires were used to evaluate satisfaction with the chest appearance by a linear scale including five markers (1 dissatisfaction, 5 satisfaction). The patients were divided into two groups the low satisfaction (score=1, 2) and the high satisfaction (score=3-5).
The median age during the Nuss procedure was 7.6 (interquartile range, 5.8-12.8)years. Out of 133, 65 patients replied, and the mean postoperative satisfaction score was 3.8 ± 0.2. Out of the 65 respondents, 16 patients (24.6%) were classified as low satisfaction group. Haller index and concave rate were significantly higher and the previous instances of chest operation history were more frequent in the low satisfaction group than in the high satisfaction group, although there was no significant intergroup difference in terms of the postoperative concave rate.

The centrifugal blood pump volute has a significant impact on its hemodynamic performance hemocompatibility. Previous studies about the effect of volute design features on the performance of blood pumps are relatively few.
In the present study, the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method was utilized to evaluate the impact of volute design factors, including spiral start position, volute tongue radius, inlet height, size, shape and diffuser pipe angle on the hemolysis index and thrombogenic potential of the centrifugal blood pump.
Correlation analysis shows that flow losses affect the hemocompatibility of the blood pump by influencing shear stress and residence time. The closer the spiral start position of the volute, the better the hydraulic performance and hemocompatibility of the blood pump. Too large or too small volute inlet heights can worsen hydraulic performance and hemolysis, and higher volute inlet height can increase the thrombogenic potential. Small volute sizes exacerbate hemolysis and lay found that the hemolysis index shows a significant correlation with spiral start position, volute size, and diffuser pipe angle. Thrombogenic potential exhibits a good correlation with all the studied volute design features. The flow losses affect the hemocompatibility of the blood pump by influencing shear stress and residence time. The finding of this study can be used to guide the optimization of blood pump for improving the hemodynamic performance and hemocompatibility.Photosynthetic heat tolerance (PHT ) is a key predictor of plant response to climate change. Mangroves are an ecologically and economically important coastal plant community comprised of trees growing at their physiological limits. Mangroves are currently impacted by global warming, yet the PHT of mangrove trees is poorly understood. In this study, we provide the first assessment of PHT in 13 Asian mangrove species, based on the critical temperature that causes the initial damage (TCrit ) and the temperature that causes 50% damage (T50 ) to photosystem II. We tested the hypotheses that the PHT in mangroves is (i) correlated with climatic niche and leaf traits, and (ii) higher than in plants from other tropical ecosystems. Our results demonstrated correlations between PHT and multiple key climate variables, the palisade to spongy mesophyll ratio and the leaf area. The two most heat-sensitive species were Kandelia obovata and Avicennia marina. Our study also revealed that mangrove trees show high heat tolerance compared to plants from other tropical ecosystems. The high PHT of mangroves thus demonstrated a conservative evolutionary strategy in heat tolerance, and highlights the need for integrative and comparative studies on thermoregulatory traits and climatic niche in order to understand the physiological response of mangrove trees to climate change-driven heatwaves and rising global temperatures.Animal migrations represent the regular movements of trillions of individuals. The scale of these movements has inspired human intrigue for millennia and has been intensively studied by biologists. This research has highlighted the diversity of migratory strategies seen across and within migratory taxa while some migrants temporarily express phenotypes dedicated to travel, others show little or no phenotypic flexibility in association with migration. However, a vocabulary for describing these contrasting solutions to the performance trade-offs inherent to the highly dynamic lifestyle of migrants (and strategies intermediate between these two extremes) is currently missing. We propose a taxon-independent organising framework based on energetics, distinguishing between migrants that forage as they travel (income migrants) and those that fuel migration using energy acquired before departure (capital migrants). Not only does our capitalincome continuum of migratory energetics account for the variable extent of phenotypic flexibility within and across migrant populations, but it also aligns with theoreticians' treatment of migration and clarifies how migration impacts other phases of the life cycle. As such, it provides a unifying scale and common vacabulary for comparing the migratory strategies of divergent taxa.
Global developmental delay (GDD) has a heterogeneous clinical profile among patients, accounting for approximately 1%-3% of cases in children. An increasing number of gene defects have been demonstrated to be associated with GDD; up to now, only limited studies have reported developmental disorders driven by WDR45B.
Trio-whole exome sequencing (Trio-WES) was performed for the patient and her family. All variants with a minor allele frequency <0.01 were selected for further interpretation according to the ACMG guidelines. Candidate pathogenic variants were validated by Sanger sequencing in her family.
A homozygous nonsynonymous variant in WDR45B [NM_019613.4 c.677G>C (p. Arg226Thr)] was identified from the proband. The variant was absent in published databases such as gnomAD and Exome Aggregation Consortium (ExAC). The variant was predicted to be damaging for proteins and classified as VUS according to the ACMG guidelines. We reviewed the literature, and the development delay level in our case was less severe than the other reported cases.
