She was started on IV methylprednisolone. Her vision improved dramatically with steroids, measuring 20/50 with correction in the right eye after 24 hours and returning to baseline after five days. An extensive workup including imaging, bloodwork, and biopsies led to a diagnosis of granulomatosis with polyangiitis, with PR3-positive ANCA.

Ocular findings, including anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, may be the presenting signs for patients with granulomatosis with polyangiitis. Prompt recognition and treatment with high-dose steroids and immunomodulatory therapy is important for visual recovery.

Prompt recognition of potential vasculitis-related vision loss can lead to timely initiation of vision-saving treatment.

To describe a case of spontaneous anterior migration of intravitreal fluocinolone acetonide (Iluvien®) implant in a pseudophakic eye with intact posterior capsule.

A 60-year old woman with proliferative diabetic retinopathy underwent uneventful pars plana vitrectomy and phacoemulsification with posterior chamber intraocular lens (PCIOL) implants in both eyes. She developed diabetic macular edema (DME) in her right eye which failed to respond to repeated intravitreal injections of Aflibercept 2mg/0.05ml (Eylea®). The patient received an intravitreal Iluvien® implant to treat the recalcitrant DME after she showed a favorable temporary response to dexamethasone intravitreal implant (Ozurdex™).Six months later she presented with pain in the right eye due to elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). The Iluvien® implant was found to be dislodged into the anterior chamber (AC) in the presence of an intact posterior capsule and stable PCIOL implant. The migrated Iluvien implant was removed and IOP was controlled with a glaucoma drainage valve as it failed to respond to maximum anti-glaucoma medication.

Intravitreal Iluvien® implant could migrate into the AC in a previously vitrectomized eyes in the presence of an intact posterior capsule.

To compare ocular surface squamous neoplasia (OSSN) and pterygium using anterior segment optical coherence tomography angiography (AS-OCTA).

Flow patterns of conjunctival vessels in patients with OSSN and pterygium were investigated using AS-OCTA. In case 1, slit-lamp examination of a 72-year-old woman revealed an elevated lesion with increased permeability of fluorescein in the inferior nasal conjunctiva of her left eye. AS-OCTA showed markedly meandering large blood vessels in both the superficial and deep layers. Histopathological evaluation of the conjunctival biopsy indicated conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia. Case 2 was that of a 79-year-old man with a history of three conjunctival tumor excisions. Slit-lamp examination showed an elevated lesion with hyperpermeability of fluorescein in the nasal conjunctiva of his left eye. AS-OCTA revealed increased meandering vasculature in both the superficial and deep layers. find more Histopathological investigation concluded that the diagnosis was squamous cell carn the superficial layer and an avascular zone in the deep layer of the pterygium head. These findings may be useful for the differential diagnosis of OSSN and pterygium.

To report on the management of an unusual case of post-goniotomy hypotony.

A 41-year-old female with pigmentary glaucoma presented with a post-goniotomy cyclodialysis cleft and signs of hypotony maculopathy. Indirect cyclopexy closed the visible cleft but did not resolve her hypotony, despite neither ultrasonographic nor gonioscopic evidence of an open cleft or communication channel. Cryotherapy-induced cyclopexy and subsequent viscoelastic agent fill increased the intraocular pressure back to baseline.

This is the first reported case of cryotherapy correcting hypotony in a patient with no gonioscopic or ultrasonographic evidence of a cyclodialysis cleft. It demonstrates the utility of cryotherapy in the management of persistent ocular hypotony despite no detectable channel of aqueous outlet.

A laboratory-scale investigation showed that Tre supplementation increased the growth rate in juvenile chicks, possibly via the improvement of innate intestinal immune responses. In this study, two trials were conducted to evaluate the growth-promoting effect of Tre supplementation in broiler chickens. In experiment-1, two thousand day-old male and female broiler chicks (Ross) were fed 0 (control), 0.25, 0.50, and 0.75% Tre-supplemented pellet-form diets from d 1-17, and subsequently, they were provided grower (d 18-30) and finisher (d 31-37) diets without Tre supplementation. Over the trial period, there was no significant difference in body weight (BW), feed intake and feed conversion ratio (FCR) between chickens in the control and Tre-fed groups. Tre treatment increased villus height (VH)/crypt depth (CD) ratio and villus surface in jejunum; decreased CD and increased VH/CD ratio in ileum on d 17, when these results were compared to the control group. In experiment-2, two hundred day-old female broiler chicks were fed an antibiotics-free and mash-form diet supplemented with 0.5% Tre from d 1-21, before being fed a non-supplemental diet until d 43. There was no difference in BW on d 21 between the control and Tre-0.5% groups; however, from d 22-43, Tre-0.5% group showed significantly higher BW gain and lower FCR compared to the control group. From these results, we suggest that Tre feeding can be beneficial for intestinal morphology and growth performance in broiler chickens. However, these outcomes did not occur in parallel owing to the different feeding conditions observed.
