Compared to disordered groups, the non-disordered group was significantly older and scored lower on experiential avoidance, psychological distress, and several motives for use. Results suggest that spiritual motives for cannabis use may be widespread. Implications for future research on spiritual use of cannabis are discussed.

To summarize the findings and evaluate the role of vibratory therapy in the rehabilitation of neurological diseases.

We systematically research PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), Web of Science, and Cochrane library databases from the inception until November 2020. We included studies that compared whole-body vibration (WBV) or focal muscle vibration (FMV) with placebo, sham, or another form of exercise in neurological disease rehabilitation in children and adults that result in motor impairments and disability.

We included 16 systematic reviews with good methodological quality evaluated using the Joanna Briggs Institute Umbrella Review Assessment and Review of Information appraisal tool. In stroke patients, WBV appears to play a role in improving gait and balance, while FMV is more effective in reducing spasticity. In multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy, no evidence suggested that vibration therapy increases some patient outcomes.

WBV and FMV appear to play a consideracing spasticity and improving gait, balance, and motor function in stroke patients. By contrast, vibration therapy seems to be unable to reduce spasticity in multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy. Also, correct use parameters for this therapy could not be defined.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONBased on the growing number of systematic reviews, this umbrella review aimed to summarize the findings and evaluate the role of vibration therapy in the rehabilitation of neurological diseases.Whole-body vibration and focal muscle vibration appear to play a considerable role in reducing spasticity and improving gait, balance, and motor function in patients affected by stroke.Focal muscle vibration appears to be more useful if applied to non-spastic antagonist muscles with reciprocal inhibitory action on spastic muscles in subjects affected by stroke.Vibration therapy seems not to be able to reduce spasticity in multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy.Introduction Usage of ceftriaxone-based therapy to treat Methicillin-Susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) infections is a controversial issue, from in vitro to clinical studies.Area covered We conducted a literature review using PubMed of articles with ceftriaxone pharmacokinetics parameters and built a probability of target attainment (PTA) based on PK values from stable conditions (non-critically-ill patients) with goals of fT>55%, fT>75%, and fT>100%. Ceftriaxone's minimal inhibitory concentration from 31 MSSA strains (0.25-64 mg/L) was used to build the cumulative fraction response (CFR). The isolates were clinically relevant from blood, bronchoalveolar lavage, and soft tissue biopsy.Expert opinion The results from controversies about using ceftriaxone for MSSA infections have been commonly addressed in the literature. However, variables such as (i) pharmacokinetic profile, (ii) pharmacodynamic target, (iii) site of infection, and (iv) MIC distributions may influence divergences. From this pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics perspective, ceftriaxone may be a reasonable option for MSSA infections when the MIC50 and MIC90 were 4 mg/L and 8 mg/L. CFR analysis demonstrated that ceftriaxone 1 g q24 h could be used if bacteriostasis is the aim (fT>55%), while 1 g q12h should be used for bactericidal effects (fT>75% or fT>100%). These dosing regimens should be considered in other clinical trials.Drug-induced liver injury is a common cause of acute liver failure. Dapsone is increasingly used in combination with rifampicin for the treatment of leprosy and also for several dermatological disorders. Clinically, abnormal liver function and focal bile duct destruction were reported after dapsone therapy. Lagerstroemia speciosa Pers., commonly known as Banaba has been traditionally used to treat various ailments including diabetes and obesity due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory efficacies. This study investigated the hepatoprotective effect of ethanolic banaba leaves extract (EBLE) against dapsone-induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Dapsone (30 mg/kg, i.p.) was administered twice daily for 30 days. In separate groups, rats were post-treated orally with EBLE (250 and 500 mg/kg) and silymarin (100 mg/kg) once daily for 30 days after dapsone administration. The marker enzymes of hepatotoxicity, oxidative stress markers, inflammatory markers and histopathology of liver were done. HPTLC analysis confirmed the presence of 12.87 µg of corosolic acid per mg of EBLE. Dapsone administration-induced significant (p  less then  0.001) elevation of marker enzymes of hepatotoxicity in serum. This treatment also increased lipid peroxidation (p  less then  0.001) and pro-inflammatory markers (tumor necrosis factor-alpha, transforming growth factor-beta, and nuclear factor kappa-B) expressions (p  less then  0.001) and decreased antioxidants (p  less then  0.001) such superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione in the liver tissue. All these abnormalities were significantly (p  less then  0.001) mitigated after EBLE (500 mg/kg) and silymarin post-treatments. The results of this study suggest that silymarin and EBLE can be used for dapsone-induced hepatotoxicity. This study hypothesised that benign and tumour-bearing uterine tissue could be differentiated by their unique electrical bioimpedance patterns, with the aid of artificial intelligence. Twenty whole, ex-vivo uterine specimens were obtained at the time of hysterectomy. A total of 11 benign and 9 malignant specimens were studied. selleckchem A uterine bioimpedance probe was designed to measure the tissue between the endometrial and serosal layers of the uterus. The impedance data was then analysed with multiple instance learning and principal component analysis, forms of artificial intelligence. Final pathology results for the specimens included uterine sarcoma, adenocarcinoma, carcinosarcoma, and high-grade serous carcinoma. The analysis correctly identified 78% (7/9) of the malignant specimens and 82% (9/11) of the benign specimens. The overall accuracy of our analysis was 80%. Our results demonstrate distinction between electrical impedance properties of malignant and benign uterine specimens. Bioimpedance and artificial intelligence may have potential implications in risk assessment of patients and may subsequently guide surgical decision-making regarding route of organ removal.
