We compared the difference in differences over time by treatment arm using two-sample t-tests, and used linear, logistic, and ordinal logistic regression to compare intervention effects at follow-up. Results Two hundred forty patients participated (114 TIPS-Plus, 126 TIPS-Basic), 216 completed follow-up. We detected no differences in outcomes between treatment arms. Between T1 and T2, we observed overall reductions in mean summary scores for reproductive coercion (T1 = 0.08 ± 0.02, T2 = 0.02 ± 0.01, p = 0.028) and increases in contraceptive use (69.6%-87.9%, p  less then  0.001), long-acting reversible contraceptives (8.3%-20.8%, p  less then  0.001), and hidden methods (20%-38.5%, p  less then  0.001). Conclusions We show no added benefit of patient-activation messages compared with provider scripts alone. Findings suggest potential utility of provider scripts in addressing reproductive coercion and contraceptive uptake (Trial Registration No. NCT02782728).

The MSc Radiation Biology course is a highly interdisciplinary degree program placing radiation biology at the interface between biology, medicine, and physics, as well as their associated technologies. The goal was to establish an internationally acknowledged program with diverse and heterogeneous student cohorts, who benefit from each other academically as well as culturally. We have completed a Five-Year evaluation of the program to assess our qualification profile and the further direction we want to take.

We evaluated the student cohort's data from the last 5 years regarding gender, age, and nationality as well as the highest degree before applying and career path after graduation.

Data shows a great diversity regarding nationalty as well as undergraduate background. Cohort sizes could be increased and future prospects mainly aimed to a PhD. Measures after regular quality meetings and students' feedback led to improving the curriculum and workload, teacher's training, and changes to examination regulations.

After 5 years, statistics show that our expectations have been met exceedingly. All graduates had excellent career opportunities reflecting the necessity of this MSc and its topics. We are continuously working on improving the program and adapting the curriculum to the requirements in radiation sciences. The future vision includes an expansion of the program as well as undergraduate education opportunities in this field.

E. coli has four isoaccepting tRNAArgs; the cleavage occurs at the 3' end of anticodon-loop, leading to translation impairment in the sensitive cells. tRNAs form a common L-shaped structure and have many conserved nucleotides that limit tRNA identity elements. How colicin D selects tRNAArgs from the tRNA pool of sensitive E. coli cells is therefore intriguing. Here, we reveal the recognition mechanism of colicin D via biochemical analyses as well as structural modelling. Colicin D recognizes tRNAArgICG, the most abundant species of E. coli tRNAArgs, at its anticodon-loop and D-arm, and selects it as the most preferred substrate by distinguishing its anticodon-loop sequence from that of others. It has been assumed that translation impairment is caused by a decrease in intact tRNA molecules due to cleavage. However, we found that intracellular levels of intact tRNAArgICG do not determine the viability of sensitive cells after such cleavage; rather, an accumulation of cleaved ones does. Cleaved tRNAArgICG dominant-negatively impairs translation in vitro. Moreover, we revealed that EF-Tu, which is required for the delivery of tRNAs, does not compete with colicin D for binding tRNAArgICG, which is consistent with our structural model. Finally, elevation of cleaved tRNAArgICG level decreases the viability of sensitive cells. These results suggest that cleaved tRNAArgICG transiently occupies ribosomal A-site in an EF-Tu-dependent manner, leading to translation impairment. The strategy should also be applicable to other tRNA-targeting RNases, as they, too, recognize anticodon-loops. This is especially relevant given that approximately 60% of maternal deaths are considered preventable.1-36 Interventions that leverage health IT tools to target the underlying drivers of disparities at the patient, clinician, and health care system levels potentially could reduce disparities in quality of care throughout the continuum (antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum) of maternity care. This article presents an overview of the research (and gaps) on the potential of health IT tools to document SDoH and community-level geocoded data in EHR-based CDS systems, minimize implicit bias, and improve adherence to clinical guidelines and coordinated care to inform multilevel (patient, clinician, system) interventions throughout the continuum of maternity care for health disparity populations impacted by MMM. Telemedicine models for improving access in rural areas and new technologies for risk assessment and disease management (e.g., regarding preeclampsia) also are discussed. Background Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death after renal transplantation (RT). Sex-specific differences in CVD in the general population are well known. learn more The aim of this study was to evaluate sex-specific differences in prevalence and course of subclinical cardiovascular (CV) organ damage in RT recipients during the first year after RT. Methods In a prospective longitudinal study, we enrolled 121 patients (male 64%, age 51 ± 15 years). CV risk factors, left ventricular mass index (LVMI), and pulse wave velocity (PWV) were assessed at time of RT and 1 year later. Results Women showed less prediagnosed CVD and better blood pressure (BP) control, and were less likely to be treated with calcium channel blockers (CCBs). Despite similar transplant function, LVMI increased in women and decreased in men (p = 0.027). In multivariable analysis, changes in LVMI were independently associated with female sex and systolic BP. Importantly, women receiving CCBs showed a decrease in LVMI and PWV. Conclusions Our findings indicate a sex-specific association between RT and changes in LVMI.
