Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a frequent and crucial method to enhance the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Sometimes, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade equipment due to their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be applied to weapons and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item that they're attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using a professional or higher salvage kits to retrieve upgrade components from other items.

The amount of damage that an armored item or weapon can absorb depends on the level of its upgrades. A piece of armor upgraded to maximum upgrade level will boost its damage absorption. But, it's important to keep in mind that this will increase its weight, which will cause it to weigh more than before.

There are a few different types of armor upgrades available in the game and they all have different effects. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others will make it lighter and stronger. The name of the armor upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade an item can be given, as illustrated below.

A few upgrades are magic or a mix of technology and magic which is identified by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require a fee to use, which are indicated by a "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades are updated every day or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest option to upgrade your armor. You can locate it by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant increases in stats and are worth the cost.

The player should be aware that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level can increase its defense value. However, it will also reduce the speed and agility of the piece. Therefore, it is typically not recommended to upgrade armor pieces above +9, because the increase in defense is generally not worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades required.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. For instance, an upgrade may enhance the damage caused by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of a rifle that snipes. Certain firearms have upgrades to improve their inherent capabilities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, reduces the risk of the risk of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed for greater damage) are two examples.

Most upgrades for weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade. These are obtained through either finishing side quests, taking out a certain number of bosses or monsters, or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.

To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade, you must visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain amount of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars are required to complete it. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific amount of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would reset.

It's possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. Instead, upgrade item off going to the stores and buying gear with low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a better chance of giving you the highest level of benefits and blessings.

Most players will want to prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they use most frequently to help them level up faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates use to make them stronger. Shepard, for example, should upgrade the M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used in conjunction with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to increase the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects in weapons and armor. They can be created through an process known as jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gem and several ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the tier of the gemstone has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The Jeweler can boost the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the level the jewel is at when it's slotted into weapons, jewelry, or gear.

The Jeweler can create all tiers of gems, with the exception of rare and legendary ones, which you must be at a certain level to get. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped out by a different jewel of the same kind without destroying it. However you can only swap out the jewels in an item of equipment only once.

It is typical to use more gems for aesthetic reasons. The jewels can also enhance performance and make a surface harder than metal so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to the movement.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the appearance of your weapons and shields. They offer a small benefit and are able to be swapped easily however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also a scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis, cannot be swapped out, and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that offer many tiny but valuable advantages to your hero. They can be obtained in the starter areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, or by performing road interactions. They can also be made by jewelers and later found or purchased from the Trading Post.

The first trinkets that a player is able to unlock is the cloak, which gives an unimportant but beneficial boost in speed of movement and evasion. After that, they can purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in the same fashion to how the player can acquire armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal upgrade or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be used in any type of equipment however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and only works with certain types of trinkets.

These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This lets a hero be more efficient when they are not active. It can also compensate for the lack of a good slot in the talent tree or team which are usually filled by the hero's optimal stats.

item upgrader of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you aren't planning to replace soon, followed by items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item that is being upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple stats on an item. It is more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat instead of two subpar ones.

Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand, will choose a pink or green ward, based on the matchup. These choices can affect the ability of a hero to control the map.

Aside from the items listed above, players may also discover a variety of other items in the form of awards and trophies. They can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest of a chapter or beating an opponent. These achievements can be seen by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
