Newborn hearing screening (NHS) varies regarding number and type of tests, location, age, professionals and funding. We compared the provision of existing screening programmes.

A questionnaire containing nine domains demography, administration, existing screening, coverage, tests, diagnosis, treatment, cost and adverse effects, was presented to hearing screening experts. Responses were verified. Clusters were identified based on number of screening steps and use of OAE or aABR, either for all infants or for well and high-risk infants (dual-protocol).

Fifty-two experts completed the questionnaire sufficiently 40 European countries, Russia, Malawi, Rwanda, India and China.

It took considerable effort to find experts for all countries with sufficient time and knowledge. Data essential for evaluation are often not collected. Infants are first screened in maternity wards in most countries. Human development index and health expenditure were high among countries with dual protocols, three screening steps, including aABR, and low among countries without NHS and countries using OAE for all infants. Nationwide implementation of NHS took 6 years, on average.

Deformable image registration (DIR) and contour propagation are used in daily online adaptation for hybrid MRI linac (MRL) treatments. The accuracy of the propagated contours may vary depending on the chosen workflow (WF), affecting the amount of required manual corrections. This study investigated the impact of three different WFs of contour propagations produced by a clinical treatment planning system for a high-field MRL on head and neck cancer patients.

Seventeen patients referred for curative radiotherapy for oropharyngeal cancer underwent standard CT-based dose planning and MR scans in the treatment position for planning (pMR), and at the 10th (MR10), 20th (MR20) and 30th (MR30) fraction (±2). The primary tumour, a metastatic lymph node and 8 organs at risk were manually delineated on each set of T2 weighted images. Delineations were repeated one month later on the pMR by the same observer to determine the intra-observer variation (IOV). . The most recently acquired image set prior to the daily images was deformed and uncorrected (WF2) versus manually corrected (WF3) structures propagated to the session image. Dice similarity coefficient (DSC), mean surface distance (MSD) and Hausdorff distance (HD) were calculated for each structure in each model.

Population median DSC, MSD and HD for WF1 and WF3 were similar and slightly better than for WF2. WF3 provided higher accuracy than WF1 for structures that are likely to shrink. All DIR workflows were less accurate than the IOV.

Therefore, it is important to examine how load carriage influences gait mechanics. The purpose of this study was to examine how subtle changes in rucksack load influence joint torque patterns during marching. Fourteen Army ROTC cadets marched with light, moderate, and heavy rucksack loads. Kinetic and kinematic data were recorded via an instrumented treadmill and motion capture system and principal component analysis was used to analyse the joint torque waveforms. Cadets exhibited moderate-large increases in knee extension torques during early stance (effect sizes ≥0.45) and small-moderate increases in ankle plantarflexion torques during push off (effect sizes ≥0.23) with each incremental increase in rucksack load. The lighter load also resulted in lower hip extension torques during early stance and flexion torques during late stance, vs. the moderate and heavier loads (effect sizes ≥0.23). It appears that subtle changes in rucksack load influence marching mechanics.
