Oral health and oral health-related quality of life (OHrQL) of residents in German long-term residential care (LRC) are poor. We will develop an evidence-based catalogue of interventions ('Oral Health Toolbox') and provide care-accompanying reinstruction and remotivation of nursing staff by dental assistants (DA). We hypothesise that such intervention will significantly improve OHrQL, daily oral hygiene/care behaviour and is cost-effective.

A scoping review will be used to identify possible intervention components. Neuroplasticity is defined as the capacity of the brain to reorganise new neuronal pathways. Mirror therapy (MT) and cognitive therapeutic exercise (CTE) are two neurorehabilitation techniques based on neuroplasticity and designed to improve the motor functions of the affected upper extremity in patients with severe hemiparesis after a stroke. Home-based interventions are an appropriate alternative to promote independence and autonomy. The objective of this study is to evaluate which of these techniques, MT and CTE, combined with task-oriented training, is more effective in functional recovery and movement patterns of the upper extremities in patients with severe hemiparesis after a stroke.

This is a home-based, single-blind, controlled, randomised clinical trial with three parallel arms, including 154 patients who had a stroke aged above 18 years. The primary outcome will be the functionality of the affected upper extremity measured using the Fugl-Meyer Assessment. Secondary variables will include cognitpatients after a stroke.

Diabetes is associated with an increased risk of depression. Some antidiabetes agents, specifically metformin and pioglitazone, have been suggested to have beneficial effects on depression, but associations between antidiabetes drugs and depression have not been systematically investigated.

We combined four Danish population-based registers to investigate whether the 20 most widely used orally administered antidiabetes drugs were associated with an altered risk of incident depression. Analyses of insulin were included for comparisons. All persons in Denmark in 2005 were included in the study and followed until 2015. Two different outcome measures of incident depression were included

) a diagnosis of depressive disorder at a psychiatric hospital as an inpatient or outpatient and

) a combined measure of a diagnosis of depression or use of antidepressants. Data were analyzed using Cox regression models.

A total of 360,205 individuals using orally administered antidiabetes drugs and 64,582 using insulin at any time during the study period were included in the analyses. Continued use of metformin and combinations of drugs including metformin were associated with decreased rates of incident depression. Pioglitazone was not associated with a decreased rate of incident depression. No other antidiabetes drugs or insulin showed significant associations with depression.

Real-life population-based data suggest a positive effect of metformin on depression rates. This evidence should be used in guiding prescriptions for patients with type 2 diabetes who are at risk for developing depression, including those with prior depression or anxiety and patients with a family history of depression.

Effective implementation of standard precautions specific to COVID-19 is a challenge for hospitals within the existing constraints of time and resources.

To rapidly design and operationalise personal protective equipment (PPE) donning and doffing areas required for a COVID-19 care facility.

Literature review was done to identify all issues pertaining to donning and doffing in terms of Donabedian's structure, process and outcome. Training on donning and doffing was given to hospital staff. Donning and doffing mock drills were held. 5S was used as a tool to set up donning and doffing areas. Instances of donning and doffing were observed for protocol deviations and errors. Plan-do-study-act cycles were conducted every alternate day for 4 weeks. The initiative was reported using Standards for QUality Improvement Reporting Excellence (SQUIRE) guidelines.

Best practices in donning and doffing were described. Our study recommends a minimum area of 16 m

each for donning and doffing rooms. Verbally assisted doffing was found most useful than visual prompts.

Challenges included sustaining the structure and process of donning and doffing, varied supplies of PPE which altered sequencing of donning and/or doffing, and training non-healthcare workers such as plumbers, electricians and drivers who were required during emergencies in the facility.
