423). Participants with higher inhibition and set-shifting abilities showed better performance in the conditional reasoning test and lower rule-matching bias errors.Energy and plastic potential dysfunction of erythrocytes and lymphocytes among people with inflammatory breast cancer, infiltrative stomach cancer, and infiltrative colon cancer is characterized by a more aggressive clinical course and poor prognosis. We explored the features of energy metabolism and phosphorus metabolism disorders in the erythrocytes and lymphocytes of patients with inflammatory breast cancer, infiltrative stomach cancer, and infiltrative colon cancer as a predicting factor in the course of the disease. 49 people were examined; the 1st group had infiltrative stomach cancer (n=17); the 2nd group had infiltrative colon cancer (n=11); the 3rd group had inflammatory breast cancer (n=21). Glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase activity was 1.8 times reduced (p≤0.005), and the activity of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase in erythrocytes of patients with cancer at the main localization increased 2.5 times, compared with normal. Inflammatory breast cancer patients had a statistically significant decrease (p less then 0.005) in erythrocytes adenosine triphosphate content by an average of 56.5% compared with the normal ratio, and in cases of patients with gastric and colorectal cancer, a decrease of 67%. Excessive use of phosphorus for energy metabolism and adenosine triphosphate production destroys the balance of energetic and plastic potentials of erythrocytes and lymphocytes in inflammatory breast cancer, infiltrative stomach, and infiltrative colorectal cancers patients. This study aimed to specify Pentacam indices in patients who suffered from different types of refractive error and underwent photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) surgery. It is a descriptive cross-sectional study carried out on 1125 patients (2215 eye samples) who underwent PRK surgery in the Noor Surgical Center of Ardabil, Iran, over a 5 year period (2014-2018). A particular checklist was provided to patients, which consisted of demographic data, pachymetry test, keratometry, refractive error, corneal-thickness indices, and corneal surface area indices. PP1 The data were analysed using the statistical analysis package of IBM® V25. The mean age of the participants in this study was 28.48±6.82 years, and the ratio of women to men was 66.4%. It was observed that the differences between angle, volume, the depth of the anterior chamber, IVA, and ISV were significant (P=0.00) when compared to each other in all types of refractive errors. High myopes had significantly higher Kmax front than low myopes (P=0.00). In astigmatism patients, the Kmax in front of the cornea in extreme type was significantly higher than in moderate (P=0.00) and high (P=0.01) types. High myopes had significantly lower Rmin than mild myopes (P=0.02), and extreme astigmatism had significantly lower Rmin than high (P=0.014) and moderate types (P=0.013). The data from this study revealed that in patients undergoing PRK surgery, some Pentacam indices could be related to some types of refractive error, and in some of these indices, there are statistically significant differences between different severities of refractive errors. Therefore, their preoperative evaluation is very important.Elements that comprise the inferior hypogastric plexus are difficult to expose, intricate, and highly variable and can easily be damaged during local surgical procedures. We aimed to highlight, through dissection, the origin, formation, and distribution of the hypogastric nervous structures and follow them in the female pelvis. We performed detailed dissections on 7 female formalin-fixed cadavers, focusing on structures surrounding the pelvic organs. For each hemipelvis, we removed the peritoneum from the pelvic floor, and after we identified the hypogastric nerves, we continued our dissection towards the inferior hypogastric plexuses, following the branches of the latter. Laterorectally, the hypogastric nerves form the inferior hypogastric plexus, a variable structure - nervous lamina, neuronal network (more frequently), or sometimes a combination of them. We identified three components of the inferior hypogastric plexus. The anterior bundle travels towards the base of the urinary bladder, the middle part innervates the uterus and the vagina, and the posterior segment provides the innervation of the rectum. The plexus can be identified after removing the pelvic peritoneum and the subperitoneal adipose tissue. Intraoperatively, the structures can be preserved by using an immediately-subperitoneal dissection plane. The variable branches are relatively well-organized around the pelvic vessels, supplying the urinary bladder, the genital organs, and the rectum. The ureter is surrounded by some branches, especially in its last segment, and it also receives innervation directly from the hypogastric nerve. Close to the viscera, the nerves enter neurovascular plexuses, making the intraoperative separation of the nerves and the vessels virtually impossible. The purpose of this case report was to describe chiropractic management of acute lumbar disc herniation in a patient with a large abdominal aortic aneurysm. A 72-year-old male patient presented with low back pain and right lower leg numbness for 12 months. A review of full-spine X-ray and lumbar MRI revealed moderate spondylosis at L2-5, moderate lumbar scoliosis, and a 7.15 cm abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Given the minimum 2-weeks of referral waiting time to receive treatment for AAA, the patient received chiropractic treatment with a hybrid rehabilitation to address the disc herniation causing severe physical disability. Through the treatments, the patient's pain was significantly alleviated with careful consideration of potential risk factors associated with AAA. In addition, the acute disc herniation was successfully managed by a series of chiropractic treatments before and after the operation for AAA. This case supports that low back pain in patients with AAA can be managed by manual therapy, in contrast to a widespread belief that manual therapy is contraindicated in AAA. More case reports of AAA patients with low back pain are warranted to assess the effectiveness and safety of manual therapy along with surgical treatment for AAA.Paraneoplastic cerebellar ataxia is a paraneoplastic neurological syndrome (PNS) that can be the first clinical manifestation of underlying cancer. It is usually associated with onco-neuronal antibodies and has no other specific paraclinical feature. After the surgical and oncologic treatment of the primary cancer, the remaining neurological symptoms have limited therapeutic options. We describe a case of severe ataxia as the primary manifestation of ovarian cancer, with a significant clinical and paraclinical improvement of the neurological symptoms after 20 sessions of rTMS intervention.Serum creatinine level begins to increase after a decrease in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) by 50% and more, so the question emerged about a more accurate method of determining GFR. The study aimed to determine the role of renal damage markers in the diagnosis of early-stage renal disease in patients with latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA). We included 84 patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) caused by diabetic kidney disease (DKD), as well as 25 representatives of the control group. Patients were divided into three groups - 43 people with LADA, 21 with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), and 20 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). GFR was assessed using six formulas after establishing the category of GFR and albuminuria. The GFR rate estimated by the CKD-EPI formula in patients with LADA and DKD did not significantly differ from that of CKD-EPI cysC, slightly different from MDRD GFR (10.6% higher, respectively) but 21.9% lower compared to CG formula. In patients with LADA and T1DM, GFR was higher in cases with existing albuminuria, regardless of the formulas used. Thus, the non albuminuria phenotype is accompanied by a greater degree of renal impairment, which indicates the need to determine serum cystatin C in the early stages of LADA. Cystatin C levels are the most accurate, early, and independent predictor of the development and progression of CKD in patients with DM, including LADA.Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is the instability or dislocation of the hip joint at birth that may occur in utero, during infancy, and childhood. This condition was identified as an important challenge. This study aimed to determine the clinical and ultrasound results of Pavlik harness treatment for DDH in patients referred to the pediatric clinic of Imam Khomeini Hospital in Ahvaz. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study in which 100 newborns aged 15 to 30 days were included by the census method after obtaining parental consent. Follow-up of the infants was performed at 3 and 6 months after treatment. All analyzes were performed using SPSS version 22 at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the mean age of the infants was 23.46±2.12 days, of which 33 infants were boys and 67 girls. The involvement on the right and left sides was 39% and 50%, respectively, and 11% of the infants had bilateral involvement. The mean value of acetabular index before placement was 25.48±6.509 and 26.38±3.866 on the right and left sides, which after 3 months of placement, was reduced to 21.62±2.578 and 21.57±2.839, respectively. Pavlik harness treatment was associated with acceptable radiological results in infants. This technique seems to be a suitable and applicable attempt to treat this problem and prevent serious and irreversible complications of late diagnosis.Miscarriage is the most common complication of pregnancy. Moreover, vitamin D deficiency is a prevalent concern among women of reproductive age, particularly in the Arab world, where the link between vitamin D deficiency and miscarriage is still unknown. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between vitamin D and miscarriage by comparing the concentration of vitamin D among women with spontaneous abortion and pregnant women. A total of 80 subjects were enrolled in this study and divided into two groups. The first group included 40 women with spontaneous abortions aged between 18 and 40 years. The second group included 40 pregnant women without previous history of miscarriages. Total 25-hydroxy vitamin D (25-OH-VD) measurement was estimated with a Dry Fluorescence Immunoassay analyzer using the Lansionbio LS-1100 instrument. The relationship between the five age groups and the vitamin D status of women with spontaneous abortion was not significant (p>0.05). There was no significant relationship between the miscarriage trimesters and vitamin D status (p>0.05) and between the five age groups (p>0.05). In our study, 95% of women with spontaneous abortion had vitamin D deficiency, compared to only 17.5% of pregnant women. A normal range of vitamin D improves the growth of the fetus and prevents pregnancy complications and miscarriage, promoting the growth of blood vessels in the placenta and improving the function of immune cells.
