This study aimed to examine the relationship between physical performance and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in Chinese older adults.
The sample comprised 956 relatively healthy and aged ≥65 years old Chinese community-dwelling participants (mean age, 72.56 ± 5.43 years; 56.8% female), which did not include those with dementia, severe cognitive impairment, mental illness etc. The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and the Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) scale were used for the initial classification of patients with MCI. Physical performance was measured via hand grip, Timed Up and Go Test (TUGT), and 4-m walking speed.
The physical performance (grip strength, TUGT, and 4-m walking speed) correlated with MCI. The grip strength [odds ratio (OR) = 0.96, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.93-0.99] and 4-m walking speed (OR = 0.25, 95% CI = 0.10-0.64) correlated negatively with MCI, while TUGT (OR = 1.08, 95% CI = 1.03-1.13) and MCI correlated positively.
The physical performance (grip strength, TUGT, and 4-m walking speed) correlated with MCI. Further analysis showed that the grip strength was associated with overall cognition, time orientation, recall, and language, while TUGT and 4-m walking speed were associated with overall cognition and various cognitive domains, except recall.

Studies have shown that microRNA (miRNA) regulates gene expression of osteoporosis (OS). It is known that miR-197-3p is abnormally expressed in osteoporosis. This study is to investigate the mechanism of miR-197-3p in regulating osteoblast differentiation.
Rats were ovariectomized to establish an animal model of postmenopausal osteoporosis. link2 link= Epigenetic activity The expression of miR-197-3p and KLF10 was detected in ovariectomized rat models. Primary osteoblasts and MC3T-E1 cells were divided into the control group, miR-197-3p inhibitor group, NC inhibitor group and miR-197-3p inhibitor + si-KLF10 group. The expression of miR-197-3p and Kruppel-like factor 10 (KLF10) was detected by qRT-PCR and Western blot. The relationship between miR-197-3p and KLF10 was analyzed by bioinformatics and luciferase reporter assay. Cell viability was evaluated by MTT assay. The ALP activity measurement and mineralization analysis were performed.
The expression of miR-197-3p was significantly raised in ovariectomized osteoporosis rats. link3 During the differentiation of osteoblasts, the expression of miR-197-3p was significantly decreased, while the expression of KLF10 was significantly raised in primary osteoblasts and MC3E3T1 cells. The expression of RUNX2, ALP, OCN and OSX in miR-197-3p inhibitor group and MC3T3-E1 group was significantly raised, and the cell survival rate and mineralized nodule were raised as well. KLF10 may be the downstream target gene of miR-197-3p. After co-transfection of miR-197-3p inhibitor and si-klf10, ALP, Runx2, OCN and OSX mRNA, cell survival rate and mineralized nodule were significantly decreased in primary osteoblasts and MC3T3-E1 cells.
MiR-197-3p Inhibition promoted osteoblast differentiation and reduced OS by up-regulating KLF10.

Depression is highly prevalent in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Diabetic depression has been shown to be associated with low-grade systemic inflammation. In recent years, the systemic immune-inflammation (SII) index has been developed as an integrated and novel inflammatory indicator. The aims of this study were to investigate the relationship between diabetic depression and SII levels, adjusting for a wide range of potential confounding factors, to examine the potential of SII in predicting diabetic depression.
The present cross-sectional study was conducted among adults with DM in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey between 2009 and 2016, the SII level was calculated as the platelet counts × neutrophil counts/lymphocyte counts. Patient Health Questionnaire-9 was used to measure depression in patients with DM. link2 Multivariable logistic regression and propensity score-matched analysis were used to analyze the association between SII levels and depression.
A total of 2566 patients with DM were included in the study, of which 370 (13.3%) were diagnosed with depression. Multivariable logistic regression showed that high SII level was an independent risk factor for diabetic depression (OR = 1.347, 95% CI 1.031-1.760,
= 0.02882) after adjusting for covariates. The relationship between SII and diabetic depression was further verified by propensity score-matched analysis.
Our data suggest that SII is a risk factor for depression in patients with DM. The SII may be an easily accessible and cost-effective strategy for identifying depression in patients with DM. More studies are warranted to further analyze the role of SII in depression in diabetic patients.

Exercise might be the most promising non-pharmaceutic intervention to address the large variety of risk factors related to the pronounced estradiol decline during peri- and early-postmenopause. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of an 18-month multipurpose exercise program on risk factors and symptoms related to the menopausal transition. Fifty-four women 1-5 years postmenopause with osteopenia or osteoporosis were randomly assigned 1) to a high impact weight-bearing/high-intensity/velocity resistance training group (EG n=27) exercising three times a week or 2) to an attendance control group (CG n=27) that performed low-intensity exercise once a week. Both groups were supplemented with cholecalciferol and calcium. link3 The primary study endpoint was bone mineral density (BMD) at lumbar spine (LS) and total hip, secondary outcomes were lean body mass (LBM), total and abdominal body percentage, metabolic syndrome Z-Score (MetS-Z), menopaansition.
Magnetotransport properties of granular oxide-segregated CoPtCr films were studied on both macroscopic and microscopic length scales by performing bulk and point-contact magnetoresistance measurements, respectively. Such a perpendicular magnetic medium is used in state-of-the-art hard disc drives and, when combined with magnetotransport phenomena for read/write operations, may lead to a novel concept for magnetic recording with high areal density.
The CoPtCr films were deposited by an epitaxy-like sputtering and contained several perpendicularly magnetized granular-media layers with different coercivities; they are very much like the state-of-the-art perpendicular magnetic medium, which can be found in today's hard disc drives. Magnetoresistive properties of bulk films were assessed by measuring the film resistance in the standard Van der Pauw geometry, while the local transport was probed by the point-contact technique.
The bulk measurements showed only a negligible magnetoresistance of less than 0.02%ics of the contacts and bias dependence of the contact magnetoresistance - both the local point-contact resistance and magnetoresistance were found to decrease with the applied dc bias.
Persons with HIV (PWH) are living to advanced age as a result of ART. These epidemiological changes highlight the importance of innovating chronic care delivery of PWH, but there is limited research regarding patient preferences for chronic care delivery.
We conducted in-depth interviews of 20 PWH who receive care at the Duke Infectious Diseases Clinic. Manuscript was coded and we used thematic analysis to identify emerging themes from interviewees' responses.
Insights of the interviews revealed a strong affinity of PWH with their HIV providers and a reliance on them for primary care as a result. Participants also expressed a strong preference for receiving NCD care from a single provider, regardless of their current chronic disease care configuration. Participants also stated a willingness to embrace new roles of non-provider HIV clinic staff in their chronic disease care.
Overall, persons living with HIV prefer consolidation and co-location of their care, and are willing to endure minor inconveniences to accommodate this preference. Efforts towards promoting primary care integration into HIV clinics are warranted.

An important measure of hospital quality is the satisfaction of the patients receiving in-patient care. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess skin cancer patients' experiences in a university hospital setting as a measure of quality of cancer care.
Questionnaires were mailed to patients with skin cancer after receiving in-patient overnight treatment in the dermatological unit of the university hospital Erlangen (Germany) from 1 September to 30 November 2017. Patients were asked to evaluate their overall experience of this episode of care and to complete the Picker Inpatient Survey questionnaire on specific aspects of their care, such as patient satisfaction regarding contact with staff, need for information, recommendation of the hospital as well as tumor-specific questions. The results were re-coded as problems and reported as frequencies and their percentage.
A total of 103 of 159 questionnaires were returned (64.8%). All patients rated the treatment and care they had received to be good or very of patients were satisfied with the in-patient skin cancer treatment. However, physicians and nurses can enhance patient satisfaction by addressing patients' fears and anxieties regarding their disease and treatment. Besides, our results highlight the importance of psycho-oncological support.
