Both MorM and whorl-like structures consistently showed positivity for CD10 and CDX2, with low ki67; cytokeratins pattern was also overlapping, although more variable. Hard keratin was focally/multifocally positive in 8 MorM cases and focally in one conventional squamous differentiation case. Hair matrix tumors showed no morphological or immunophenotypical overlap with MorM. MorM shows wide morphological and immunophenotypical overlap with the whorl-like structures of adamantinomatous craniopharyngiomas, which are analogous to enamel knots of tooth development. This suggests that MorM might be an aberrant mimic of odontogenic differentiation.
Ochronosis and alkaptonuria are manifestations of the same condition-a rare autosomal recessive disorder resulting from a constitutional lack of homogentisate 1,2-dioxygenase (HGD) with the consequent accumulation of homogentisic acid (HGA). In ochronosis, HGA undergoes autoxidation as well as enzymatic oxidation to form an ochronotic pigment that accumulates in cartilage and connective tissues. In the beginning, there is homogentisic aciduria and pigmentation of cartilages and other connective tissues. In later years, generalized osteoarthritis of the spine and large joints, termed ochronotic arthropathy, develops.
The diagnosis is confirmed by quantitative measurement of HGA in urine and mutation analysis of the HGD gene. One of the differential diagnoses for the skin findings is exogenous ochronosis, a limited hyperpigmentation of skin caused by some chemicals. As for the lumbar spine findings, there can be radiographic similarities with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) including reduced intervertebral disc phenomenon and broad syndesmophytes. Here, we present a case of a patient with probable ochronosis that was treated many years as ankylosing spondylitis without response, and we provide a review of the current literature on ochronosis pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment.
Early-Onset Scoliosis (EOS) (defined as a curvature of the spine ≥ 10° with onset before 10years of age) if not properly treated, can lead to increased morbidity and mortality. Traditionally Growing Rods (TGRs), implants fixated to the spine and extended every 6-8months by surgery, are considered the gold standard, but Magnetically Controlled Growing Rods (MCGRs) avoid multiple surgeries. While the potential benefit of outpatient distraction procedure with MCGR is huge, concerns still remain about its risks, up to the release of a Medical Device Alert (MDA) by the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) advising not to implant MCGRs until further notice. The aim of this literature review is to (1) give an overview on the use of MCGRs and (2) identify what is currently understood about the surgical, implant and patient factors associated with the use of MCGRs.
Systematic literature review.
Surgical factors such as use of single rod configuration or incorrect rod contouring might affect early failure of MCGRs. Patient's older age and higher BMI are correlated with rod slippage. Wear debris and distraction mechanism failure may result from implant design and iteration.
Despite the complications reported, this technology still offers one of the best solutions to spine surgeons dealing with severe EOS. Lowering the complication rate by identifying risk factors for failure is possible and further studies in this direction are required. Once the risk factors are well described, some of these can be addressed enabling a safer use of MCGRs.

In doing so he also was prescient to recognize, in 1955, that the most significant danger to the future of humanity are developments in molecular biology and biotechnology, in contrast to the post-World War global threat of thermonuclear weapons. These insights are engaged here in view of recent discussion of the need for international regulation of heritable human genome editing and the announcement in 2018 of the birth of the world's first gene-edited babies in China. Heidegger's call for meditative thinking requires modern medicine and the life sciences to appropriate the phenomenological conception of the human "way to be" (Seinsweise) such that it is not restricted to the "present-at-hand" (vorhanden) physiology and pathology of the human body (Körper).SDG711 is a histone H3K27me2/3 transmethylase in rice, a homolog of CLF in Arabidopsis, and plays key roles in regulating flowering time and panicle development. In this work, we investigated the role of SDG711 in rice seed development. Overexpression and downregulation of SDG711 lead to a decrease and increase in the expression level of genes related to starch accumulation, resulting in smaller seeds or even seed abortion. ChIP assay showed that SDG711-mediated H3K27me3 changed significantly in genes related to endosperm development, and SDG711 can directly bind to the gene body region of several starch synthesis genes and amylase genes. In addition, H3K4me3 and H3K9ac modifications also cooperate with H3K27me3 to regulate the development of the endosperm. Our results suggest that the crosstalk between SDG711-mediated H3K27me3 and H3K4me3, and H3K9ac are involved in starch accumulation to control normal seed development.Difficulties with speech and swallowing occur in patients with Parkinsonism. Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) is proven as an effective treatment for speech and swallowing function in idiopathic Parkinson's disease (IPD). The effect of LSVT on swallowing function in multiple system atrophy-cerebellar type (MSA-C) is unknown. We sought to determine LSVT's effect on swallowing function in MSA-C patients compared to IPD patients. LSVT-LOUD was performed on 13 patients with Parkinsonism (6 IPD and 7 MSA-C). Trichostatin A molecular weight Maximum phonation time (MPT), voice intensity, Speech Handicap Index-15 (SHI-15), Swallowing-Quality of Life (SWAL-QOL), National Institutes of Health-swallowing safety scale (NIH-SSS), and videofluoroscopic dysphagia scale (VDS) before and after LSVT were analyzed and reevaluated three months after treatment. The IPD and MSA-C groups showed significant improvements in overall speech and swallowing measures after LSVT. In particular, pharyngeal phase score and total score of VDS improved significantly in both groups.
