© 2020 The Authors. Published by the British Institute of Radiology.High-dose-rate interstitial brachytherapy (HDR-ISBT) is relatively rarely applied for the head and neck cancer. However, its dose distribution is more confined than intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and can deliver higher dose while sparing surrounding normal tissues. In this case report, the effectiveness of HDR-ISBT as a boost following IMRT for post-operative recurrent oropharyngeal cancer patient was indicated. A 73-year-old male who developed local recurrence after surgery for oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Salvage IMRT up to 70 Gy concurrent with weekly cetuximab was planned. However, CT taken at 60 Gy found a residual tumor, then, boost HDR-ISBT was proposed. 1 week after 60 Gy of IMRT, HDR-ISBT, 12 Gy in 2 fractions, was delivered under local anesthesia. MRI taken 2 months after HDR-ISBT showed no residual tumor. It was demonstrated that boost HDR-ISBT following IMRT for local recurrence of oropharyngeal cancer was performed safely and showed favorable efficacy. © 2020 The Authors. Published by the British Institute of Radiology.Aiming to raise awareness for the possibility of schistosomal involvement of the central nervous system in travellers returning from endemic areas and/or immigrants to nonendemic areas, the authors report a case of neuroschistosomiasis in a Portuguese patient coming from the Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe with good clinical outcome following praziquantel therapy. This is the first case of neuroschistosomiasis associated with São Tomé and Príncipe reported in literature and further studies are needed to confirm which species of this parasite are endemic of that region. We conclude that early diagnosis is key to reduce clinical severity and therefore validation of new diagnostic techniques and establishment of consensual treatment guidelines would be important. © 2020 The Authors. The most common sites of metastases reported include the bones, liver and lung. Metastasis to the urinary bladder is relatively uncommon with only a few case reports in literature. Published by the British Institute of Radiology.Cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis (CTX) is a rare metabolic disease with autosomal recessive inheritance. It is caused by mutations of the CYP27A1 gene, which codifies for sterol 27-hydroxylase, an enzyme that is responsible for the synthesis of cholic acids. In CTX, cholic acid synthesis is impaired, leading to accumulation of the precursor chenodessossicholic acid) in various organs and tissues. The clinical manifestations of CTX include chronic diarrhea, early-onset cataracts, tendon xanthomas and neurological disturbances. Therapy with oral chenodessossicholic acid has been shown to provide significantly better outcomes for affected individuals; therefore, recognition of this disease and awareness of its suggestive instrumental signs is extremely important. In this study, we describe the imaging findings in a 43-years-old male who was diagnosed with CTX and studied through ultrasound, CT and MRI. It is important that the neurology and radiology communities are aware of this multi-imaging findings recognition of them is important, as due to the high variability of the manifestation of this disease; it could impact on early diagnosis of a condition rarely seen, but manageable. © 2020 The Authors. Percutaneous embolization of spinal tumours are undertaken much less frequently, though its use has been reported in hypervascular spinal metastases1,2 and spinal paraganglioma.3 We present a patient in whom pre-operative percutaneous embolization has been performed to a recurrent lumbar nerve root haemangioblastoma that had previously been embolized using a transarterial approach.
