Despite the global agreements on adolescents' sexual and reproductive health and rights, access to and utilisation of these services among the youth/adolescents remain unsatisfactory in low- and middle-income countries which are a significant barrier to progress in this area. This review established factors influencing access and utilisation of youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services (YFSRHS) among the youth in sub-Saharan Africa to inform programmatic interventions.

A systematic review of studies published between January 2009 and April 2019 using PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, Medline, and Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar databases was conducted. Studies were screened based on the inclusion criteria of barriers and facilitators of implementation of YFSRHS, existing national policies on provision of YFSRHS, and youth's perspectives on these services.

A total of 23,400 studies were identified through database search and additional 5 studies from other sources. After the full-text scrng YFSRHS should aim at intensive training of health workers and put in place quality implementation standard guidelines in clinics to offer services according to youth's needs and preferences. In addition, educating the youth through community outreaches and health education programs for those in schools can facilitate utilisation and scale up of the service.

Successful human embryo implantation requires the differentiation of endometrial stromal cells (ESCs) into decidual cells during a process called decidualization. ESCs express specific markers of decidualization, including prolactin, insulin-like growth factor-binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1), and connexin-43. Decidual cells also control of trophoblast invasion by secreting various factors, such as matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases. Preimplantation factor (PIF) is a recently identified, embryo-derived peptide with activities at the fetal-maternal interface. It creates a favorable pro-inflammatory environment in human endometrium and directly controls placental development by increasing the human trophoblastic cells' ability to invade the endometrium. We hypothesized that PIF's effects on the endometrium counteract its pro-invasive effects.

We tested sPIF effect on the expression of three decidualization markers by RT-qPCR and/or immunochemiluminescence assay. We examist that PIF accentuates the decidualization process and the production of endometrial factors that limit trophoblast invasion. By controlling both trophoblast and endometrial cells, PIF therefore appears to be a pivotal player in the human embryo implantation process.

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is significantly associated with the risk of cardiovascular disease and its prevalence is showing a trend of getting younger. Previous studies on the relationship between elements and MetS were mostly reported in adults with single element analysis, while reports in children with combined effects of multiple elements were very limited. The aim of this study is to investigate the association between whole blood Cu, Mg and Zn in both single and combined effects and MetS components in rural Chinese children aged 6-12years based on the data from 2010-2012 China National Nutrition and Health Survey.

A total of 911 children (51.2% male, 48.7% female) aged 6-12years were included. Basic characteristics and MetS component parameters were collected and determined by trained stuffs. Elements were detected by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to examine the independent relationship between elements and MetS componech.

Placing a peripheral vein catheter can be challenging due to several factors, but using ultrasound as guidance increases the success rate. The purpose of this review is to investigate the knowledge already existing within the field of education in ultrasound-guided peripheral vein catheter placement and explore the efficacy and clinical impact of different types of education.

In accordance with PRISMA-guidelines, a systematic search was performed using three databases (PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL). Saracatinib Two reviewers screened titles and abstracts, subsequently full-text of the relevant articles. The risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane Collaboration risk of bias assessment tool and the New Ottawa scale.

Of 3409 identified publications, 64 were included. The studies were different in target learners, study design, assessment tools, and outcome measures, which made direct comparison difficult. The studies addressed a possible effect of mastery learning and found e-learning and didactic classroom teaching tos still warranted. The model ethanologenic bacterium Zymomonas mobilis has many advantages for diverse biochemical production. Although the impact of temperature especially high temperature on the growth and ethanol production of Z. mobilis has been reported, the transcriptional profiles of Z. mobilis grown at different temperatures have not been systematically investigated. In this study, Z. mobilis wild-type strain ZM4 was used to study the effect of a broad range of temperatures of 24, 30, 36, 40, and 45 °C on cell growth and morphology, glucose utilization and ethanol production, as well as the corresponding global gene expression profiles using RNA-Seq-based transcriptomics. In addition, a recombinant Z. mobilis strain expressing reporter gene EGFP (ZM4_EGFP) was constructed to study the effect of temperature on heterologous protein expression at different temperatures. Our result demonstrated that the effect of temperature on the growth and morphology of ZM4 and ZM4_EGFP were similar. The biomass of these two strains decrthen selected for genetics study using the strategies of plasmid overexpression of candidate gene or replacement of the native promoter of candidate gene by an inducible Ptet promoter. The genetics studies indicated that ZMO0236, ZMO1335, ZMO0994, operon groESL, and cspL, which encodes Mrp family chromosome partitioning ATPase, flavoprotein WrbA, an uncharacterized protein, chaperonin Cpn10 and GroEL, and an exogenous cold shock protein, respectively, were associated with heat tolerance, and recombinant strains over-expressing these genes can improve their heat tolerance. Our work thus not only explored the effects of temperature on the expression of exogenous gene EGFP and endogenous genes, but also selected and confirmed several genes associated with heat tolerance in Z. mobilis, which provided a guidance on identifying candidate genes associated with phenotypic improvement through systems biology strategy and genetics studies for other microorganisms.Access to randomized clinical trial (RCT) protocols is necessary for the interpretation and reproducibility of the study results, but protocol availability has been lacking. We determined the prevalence of protocol availability for all published cancer RCTs in January 2020. We found that only 36.1% (48/133) of RCTs had an accessible protocol and only 11.3% of RCTs (15/133) had a publicly accessible protocol that was not behind a paywall. Only 18.0% (24/133) of RCTs were published in conjunction with the protocol on the journal website. In conclusion, few cancer RCTs have an accessible research protocol. Journals should require publication of RCT protocols along with manuscripts to improve research transparency.

Learning from a few samples to automatically recognize the plant leaf diseases is an attractive and promising study to protect the agricultural yield and quality. The existing few-shot classification studies in agriculture are mainly based on supervised learning schemes, ignoring unlabeled data's helpful information.

In this paper, we proposed a semi-supervised few-shot learning approach to solve the plant leaf diseases recognition. Specifically, the public PlantVillage dataset is used and split into the source domain and target domain. Extensive comparison experiments considering the domain split and few-shot parameters (N-way, k-shot) were carried out to validate the correctness and generalization of proposed semi-supervised few-shot methods. In terms of selecting pseudo-labeled samples in the semi-supervised process, we adopted the confidence interval to determine the number of unlabeled samples for pseudo-labelling adaptively.

The average improvement by the single semi-supervised method is 2.8%, and that by the iterative semi-supervised method is 4.6%.

The proposed methods can outperform other related works with fewer labeled training data.

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a systemic autoimmune disease characterized by specific vascular and obstetric manifestations and by antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) positivity. Microvascular damage in the course of APS and "aPL carrier" patients without symptoms is poorly investigated.

This study aims to compare nailfold videocapillaroscopy (NVC) microvascular parameters in APS patients and non-symptomatic "aPL carriers" and to investigate their possible correlations with different aPL subtypes.

NVC was performed during standard evaluations in 18 APS patients (mean age 50 ± 13.8 years), 24 "aPL carriers" without symptoms (mean age 46.4 ± 16.4 years), and 18 control patients (CTR) (mean age 74 ± 12.5 years) taking oral anticoagulants for non-immunological indications (i.e., cardiovascular accidents). All patients were investigated for the presence of dilated capillaries, giant capillaries, microhemorrhages, capillary loss, and further non-specific/specific abnormalities (i.e., branched "bushy" capilrameters. Further investigations are needed to better characterize the microvascular endothelium damage induced by aPL.

APS patients showed significantly a greater number of non-specific NVC abnormalities than "aPL carriers", particularly the "comb-like" NVC pattern. Oral anticoagulants may represent a confounding factor for isolated microhemorrhages. Not any correlation was found between aPL subtypes and NVC parameters. Further investigations are needed to better characterize the microvascular endothelium damage induced by aPL.

To establish regression models of physical and equivalent dose in 2Gy per fraction (EQD

) plan parameters of two kinds of hybrid planning for stage III NSCLC.

Two kinds of hybrid plans named conventional fraction radiotherapy & stereotactic body radiotherapy (C&S) and conventional fraction radiotherapy & simultaneous integrated boost (C&SIB) were retrospectively made for 20 patients with stage III NSCLC. Prescription dose of C&S plans was 2Gy × 30f for planning target volume of lymph node (PTV

) and 12.5Gy × 4f for planning target volume of primary tumor (PTV

), while prescription dose of C&SIB plans was 2Gy × 26f for PTV

and sequential 2Gy × 4f for PTV

combined with 12.5Gy × 4f for PTV

. Regression models of physical and EQD

plan parameters were established based on anatomical geometry features for two kinds of hybrid plans. The features were mainly characterized by volume ratio, min distance and overlapping slices thickness of two structures. The possibilities of regression models of EQD

plan parameters were verified by spearman's correlation coefficients between physical and EQD

plan parameters, and the influence on the consistence of fitting goodness between physical and EQD

models was investigated by the correlations between physical and EQD

plan parameters.
