Describe the results of the first national census of radiotherapy in Mexico in order to make a situational diagnosis of radiotherapy availability, offer more accurate information to radiation oncologists, and promote an adequate scientific based investment for the country.

According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the density of radiotherapy (RT) machines per million habitants in Mexico is approximately 1.7-1.8. Other international organizations such as DIRAC-IAEA report 1.15 per million habitants. National organizations collect data indirectly and previous surveys had a low accrual rate (32.5%). Therefore, a precise census is required.

The Mexican Radiation Oncology Certification Board (CMRO for its acronym in Spanish) conducted a nationwide census from January through November 2019. Gathered information was combined with CMRO database for sociodemographic information and human resources.

The study included 103 RT centers [95.1% answered the survey], with a mediastates (15.6%), 0.1-0.49 in 8 states (25%), 0.5-0.99 in 13 states (40.6%), 1-1.49 in 5 states (15.6%) and 1.5-1.99 in Mexico City (3.1%). The Mexican CMRO has 368 radiation oncologists certified (99 women and 269 men), of whom only 346 remain as an active part of Mexico's workforce.

This is the first time the CMRO conducts a national census for a radiotherapy diagnostic situation in Mexico. The country currently holds a density of clinical and linear accelerators of 1.19 per million habitants. Brachytherapy density is 0.55 devices per million habitants, and 57% of radiotherapy centers have brachytherapy units.

To establish consensus guidelines for a safe clinical practice of accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) interstitial multicatheter brachytherapy (BT).

APBI with interstitial multicatheter BT has proved to be effective in the treatment of early stage breast cancer. This paradigm shift in the approach to early breast cancer conservative treatment, along with the existing controversies on the clinical practice of APBI, prompted the Spanish Brachytherapy Group (GEB) of the Spanish Societies of Radiation Oncology (SEOR) and Medical Physics (SEFM) to address BT APBI in a consensus meeting.

Prior to the meeting, a survey with 27 questions on indication, inclusion criteria, BT modality, implant technique, image guidance and simulation, CTV and OAR definition, dose prescription and fractionation, dose calculation, implant quality metrics and OAR dose constrains was distributed. Items not reaching a level of agreement of 70% were discussed and voted during the meeting.

26 Institutions completed the survey, 60% of them perform APBI procedures. The analysis of the survey showed consensus reached on approximately half the questions. An expert panel discussed the remaining items; thereafter, a voting established the definite consensus.

This document summarizes the consensus guidelines agreed during the meeting of the Spanish Brachytherapy Group SEOR-SEFM. Institutions with BT facilities available should offer interstitial BT APBI as a treatment option to patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria. #link# Institutions willing to implement interstitial BT APBI are encouraged to follow the consensus guidelines established herein.

The No Action Protocol (NAL) was used to diminish the systematic set-up error. Recently, owing to the development of image registration technologies, the on-line positioning control is more often used. This method significantly reduces the CTV-PTV margin at the expense of the lengthening of a treatment session. The efficiency of NAL in decreasing the total treatment time for Head&Neck patients was investigated.

Results of set-up control of 30 patients were analyzed. The set-up control was carried out on-line. For each patient and each fraction, the set-error and the time needed for making the set-up control procedure were measured. Next, retrospectively, the NAL was applied to this data. The number of initial errors (without interventions) and after NAL protocol were compared in terms of errors larger than 3 and 4 mm. The average and total time used for portal control was calculated and compared.

The number of setup errors in the posterior-anterior, inferior-superior, and right-left directions ≥3 mm and ≥4 mm were 98, 79, and 91 sessions and 44, 38 and 30 sessions out of 884 sessions. After NAL protocol the number of errors ≥3 mm and ≥4 mm decreased to 84, 57, and 39 sessions and 31, 15 and 10 sessions, respectively. The average time needed for one set-up control was 5.1 min. NAL protocol allows saving 4049 min for the whole group.

For locations where the random set-up errors are small, the NAL enables a very precise treatment of patients. Implementation of this protocol significantly decreases the total treatment time.

Mounting evidence implicates circular RNAs (circRNAs) in various biological processes during cancer progression. link2 Gastric cancer is a main cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Herein, we aimed at investigating whether circ_002117 mediates gastric cancer progression through endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress.

Bioinformatics analysis detected differentially expressed circRNAs and their target miRNA candidates, and RT-qPCR was performed to detect expression of circ_002117, microRNA (miRNA)-370 and HERPUD1 in gastric cancer tissues and cells. Gastric cancer cells were transfected with plasmids and their proliferative ability and apoptosis were detected with gain- and loss-of-function assay. The ER of treated cells was observed under a transmission electron microscope. Dual-luciferase reporter gene assay and RIP were performed to detect the interaction between HEPRUD1, miR-370 and circ_002117-treated cells were injected into mice to establish xenograft tumor model.

Circ_002117 and HEPRUD1 were poorly expressed whereas miR-370 was highly expressed in clinical cancer tissues and cells. Circ_002117 was indicated to target and suppress miR-370 expression, while HERPUD1 was directly targeted by miR-370. Circ_002117 overexpression or miR-370 deficiency promoted ER stress-induced apoptosis and decreased proliferation of gastric cancer cells, which was reversed by silencing of HEPRUD1. link3 Circ_002117 overexpression or miR-370 depletion significantly suppressed gastric cancer tumorigenesis in vivo

Taken altogether, circ_002117 facilitated ER stress-induced apoptosis in gastric cancer by upregulating HERPUD1 through miR-370 inhibition.

Little is understood about the mechanisms that influence help-seeking behavior in this group. Aims This study aimed to compare transgender and cisgender participants in their likelihood to seek help for both physical and mental health conditions, and to explore whether this help-seeking behavior is predicted by a range of sociodemographic and psychological variables. Methods 123 participants living in Ireland (cisgender= 67; transgender= 56) completed a questionnaire which included demographic questions, as well as measures of optimism (LOT-R), self-esteem (RSES), psychological distress (GHQ-12), attitudes towards seeking psychological help (ATSPPH-SF), and attitudes towards seeking help for a physical health problem (Attitudes Towards Seeking Medical Help Scale- Action/Intervention subscale). Associations between predictoic healthcare and suggests that healthcare professionals should acknowledge the specific healthcare needs and concerns among transgender individuals. In recent decades, the chemistry of stable silylenes (R2Si) has evolved significantly. The first major development in this chemistry was the isolation of a silicocene which is stabilized by the Cp* (Cp* = η5-C5Me5) ligand in 1986 and subsequently the isolation of a first N-heterocyclic silylene (NHSi) in 1994. Since the groundbreaking discoveries, a large number of isolable cyclic silylenes and higher coordinated silylenes, i.e. Si(II) compounds with coordination number greater than two, have been prepared and the properties investigated. However, the first isolable two-coordinate acyclic silylene was finally reported in 2012. The achievements in the synthesis of acyclic silylenes have allowed for the utilization of silylenes in small molecule activation including inert H2 activation, a process previously exclusive to transition metals. This minireview highlights the developments in silylene chemistry, specifically two-coordinate acyclic silylenes, including experimental and computational studies which investigate the extremely high reactivity of the acyclic silylenes. It has been widely acknowledged in debates about nationalism and ethnicity that identity categories used for classifying people along the lines of culture, race, and ethnicity help to enact, that is, bring into being, the collective identities they name. However, we know little about how categories acquire their performative powers. The contribution of this paper is twofold first, it proposes a conceptual framework based on concepts and insights from science and technology studies for investigating the performative powers of statistical identity categories and possibly also other domains. Second, it demonstrates, through an empirical study of two examples from Estonian and Dutch official population statistics, that statistical identity categories enact more than the groups to which they refer. We argue that they also enact national identities and notions of national belonging of majoritarian groups in the host countries. Therefore, statistical identity categories can be used as analytical lenses to study nationalism and processes of nation-building.
