Conclusions Early childhood caries has a definite negative impact on the OHRQoL of children. At one month follow up after complete oral rehabilitation, the quality of life improved significanty as assessed by children's self reports as well as parental perceptions of their child's OHRQoL. © 2020 Craniofacial Research Foundation. Most cases are secondary to bronchopleural fistulae or pleural intervention and can occur in the absence of immunosuppression. We report a case of PA in a young patient after pleurodesis for recurrent pneumothorax. Clinical resolution was achieved with systemic and local antifungal therapy combined with surgical debridement. Hepatotoxicity led to a switch from voriconazole to isavuconazole, with a successful outcome. © 2020 The Author(s).Although associations between neighborhood socioeconomic conditions and health have been well established, their geographical scope is mostly limited to Western societies, while multilevel studies in the non-Western context (e.g., Japan) are limited to specific cities/regions within countries. This consequently limits the external validity of the findings. To fill the gap, this study examined the associations between neighborhood socioeconomic conditions and health-related indicators by using nationwide cross-sectional data in Japan. selleck chemicals Individual data was collected from a nationwide online survey conducted in 2015 (n = 4593). Self-rated health, mental distress (Kessler Psychological Distress Scale K6), smoking, and physical activity were analyzed in relation to neighborhood conditions. Analyses of multilevel logistic regression models were done using the Areal Deprivation Index (ADI) with population density as the neighborhood-level independent variable. After adjusting for individual covariates, ADI showed significant positive associations with poor self-rated health (odds ratio for one standard deviation increase and 95% confidence interval 1.09, 1.00-1.19), mental distress (1.09, 1.02-1.16), current smoking (1.11, 1.03-1.19), and physical inactivity (1.11, 1.04-1.18). Population density was not associated with the four dependent variables. Analyses of the nationwide survey data in Japan showed that neighborhood socioeconomic conditions were independently associated with multiple health statuses and behaviors. These analyses may contribute to generalizing existing findings. Lastly, the results indicate the importance of neighborhood socioeconomic conditions in reducing health disparities in Japan. © 2020 The Author(s).Information technology applications for patient-collection of family health history (FHH) increase identification of elevated-risk individuals compared to usual care. It is unknown if the method of collection impacts data collected or if simply going directly to the patient is what makes the difference. The objective of this study was to examine differences in data detail and risk identification rates between FHH collection directly from individuals using paper-based forms and an interactive web-based platform. This is a non-randomized epidemiologic study in Singaporean population from 2016 to 2018. Intervention was paper-based versus web-based interactive platform for FHH collection. Participant demographics, FHH detail, and risk assessment results were analyzed. 882 participants enrolled in the study, 481 in the paper-based group and 401 in the web-based group with mean (SD) age of 45.4 (12.98) years and 47.5% male. Web-based FHH collection participants had an increased number of conditions per relative (p-value less then 0.001), greater frequency of reporting age of onset (p-value less then 0.001), and greater odds of receiving ≥1 risk recommendation both overall (OR 3.99 (2.41, 6.59)) and within subcategories of genetic counselling for hereditary cancer syndromes (p-value = 0.041) and screening and prevention for breast (p-value = 0.002) and colon cancer (p-value = 0.005). This has significant implications for clinical care and research efforts where FHH is being assessed. Using interactive information technology platforms to collect FHH can improve the completeness of the data collected and result in increased rates of risk identification. Methods of data collection to maximize benefit should be taken into account in future studies and clinical care. Published by Elsevier Inc.Aspirin (Asp) is one of the most important and ancient member of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), commonly used in medication of fever, pain and inflammation. It can inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandin by blocking the cyclooxygenase (COX). Attempts have been taken to analyze aspirin together with some of its modified derivatives applying quantum mechanical calculations in order to compare their physicochemical and biochemical properties. Density functional theory (DFT) with B3LYP/6-31G (d, p) basis set has been employed to elucidate their thermal, molecular orbital, equilibrium geometrical properties in gas phase. Molecular docking and nonbonding interactions have been performed against human cyclooxygenase-2 protein 5F1A to investigate the binding affinity and mode(s) of newly designed aspirin derivatives. ADMET prediction has been utilized to compare the absorption, metabolism, and carcinogenic properties of new derivatives with parent drug (Asp). Thermal and geometrical results support the thermochemical stability and equilibrium geometry of all the structures. From the molecular docking simulation, most of the derivatives exhibited better binding affinity than parent drug (Asp) with the receptor protein (5F1A). ADMET prediction disclosed the improved pharmacokinetic properties with lower acute oral toxicity of some derivatives. Based on quantum chemical, molecular docking and ADMET analysis, this investigation can be useful to understand the physicochemical and biochemical/biological activities of Asp and its modified derivatives to search a new antipyretic analgesic drug. © Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2020.
