Programs that offered W-O CR were more often located in an academic or tertiary facility, served more patients/year, offered more components, treated more patients/session, offered alternative forms of exercise, had more staff (including cardiologists, dietitians, and administrative assistants, but not mental health care professionals), and perceived space and human resources to be less of a barrier to delivery than programs not offering W-O CR (all p less then 0.05). CONCLUSION Women-Only CR was not commonly offered. Only larger, well-resourced programs seem to have the capacity to offer it, so expanding delivery may require exploiting low-cost, less human resource-intensive approaches such as online peer support. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a serious health issue that causes long-term neurological disability, particularly in young adults, athletes and war veterans. Despite the use of different medications or surgical procedures, no effective therapy is currently available to halt its pathogenesis. Here, we have undertaken a novel approach to reduce neuroinflammation and improve cognitive, social and locomotor behaviors in a mouse model of TBI. RNS60 is a physiologic saline solution containing oxygen nanobubbles that is generated by subjecting normal saline to Taylor-Couette-Poiseuille (TCP) flow under elevated oxygen pressure. Recently we have delineated that RNS60 inhibits the expression of proinflammatory molecules in glial cells via type 1A phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase (PI3K)-mediated upregulation of IκBα. In this study, we found that TBI decreased the level of IκBα and increased the activation of NF-κB in hippocampus and cortex as monitored by the upregulation of p-p65. However, intraperitoneal administration of RNS60 increased and/or restored the level of IκBα and inhibited the activation of NF-κB in hippocampus and cortex of TBI mice. Accordingly, RNS60 treatment decreased the activation of astrocytes and microglia and reduced neuronal apoptosis in the brain of TBI mice. RNS60 treatment also reduced vascular damage, attenuated blood-brain barrier leakage and decreased the size of lesion in the brain of TBI mice. Importantly, RNS60 treated mice showed significant improvements in memory, social behavior and locomotor activities while displaying reduction in depression-like behaviors. These results delineate a novel neuroprotective property of RNS60 and suggest its possible therapeutic use in TBI. Methylmalonate semialdehyde dehydrogenase deficiency (MMSDD; MIM 614105) is a rare autosomal recessive defect of valine and pyrimidine catabolism. Four prior MMSDD cases are published. We present a fifth case, along with functional and metabolomic analysis. The patient, born to non-consanguineous parents of East African origin, was admitted at two weeks of age for failure to thrive. She was nondysmorphic, had a normal brain MRI, and showed mild hypotonia. Gastroesophageal reflux occurred with feeding. Urine organic acid assessment identified excess 3-hydroxyisobutyrate and 3-hydroxypropionate, while urine amino acid analysis identified elevated concentrations of β-aminoisobutyrate and β-alanine. Plasma amino acids showed an elevated concentration of β-aminoisobutyrate with undetectable β-alanine. ALDH6A1 gene sequencing identified a homozygous variant of uncertain significance, c.1261C > T (p.Pro421Ser). Ellmans Reagenz Management with valine restriction led to reduced concentration of abnormal analytes in blood and urine, improved growth, and reduced gastroesophageal reflux. Western blotting of patient fibroblast extracts demonstrated a large reduction of methylmalonate semialdehyde dehydrogenase (MMSD) protein. Patient cells displayed compromised mitochondrial function with increased superoxide production, reduced oxygen consumption, and reduced ATP production. Metabolomic profiles from patient fibroblasts demonstrated over-representation of fatty acids and fatty acylcarnitines, presumably due to methylmalonate semialdehyde shunting to β-alanine and subsequently to malonyl-CoA with ensuing increase of fatty acid synthesis. Previously reported cases of MMSDD have shown variable clinical presentation. Our case continues the trend as clinical phenotypes diverge from prior cases. Recognition of mitochondrial dysfunction and novel metabolites in this patient provide the opportunity to assess future patients for secondary changes that may influence clinical outcome. Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common cancer in women in France with 4714 new cases in 2017. More than 70% of patients whose disease is initially locally advanced will present locoregional or distant recurrence. Therapeutic options in this situation are not consensual. They are based on chemotherapy possibly associated with an iterative cytoreductive surgery when it is bearable by the patient. The place of radiotherapy in the management of the disease is hidden in the vast majority of national or international standards. We conducted a general review of the literature to clarify the role of irradiation in the global management of ovarian cancers, particularly in recurrence. INTRODUCTION Australian X-ray operators (XROs) are health workers qualified with a limited radiography licence to perform basic radiography examinations in rural areas of Australia. However, no previous study explored Western Australian (WA) XROs' radiography practice. The purpose of this study was to investigate WA XROs' self-perceived competence in the general radiography practice, and barriers and facilitators to their competence for determination of appropriate strategies to improve quality and safety of the radiographic service provided by them. METHODS Institutional review board approval and informed consent from participants were obtained. Interviews were conducted with the WA XROs to obtain demographic information and identify their self-perceived competence in the general radiography practice, and the barriers and facilitators to their competence. A thematic analysis was used to analyse the interview data. RESULTS A total of nine interviews were conducted (eight nurses and one paramedic). Participants indicated that they felt highly competent in patient care in radiography and adequately competent in the production of diagnostically acceptable images.
