The study aim is a comparative proteome-based analysis of different autologous bone entities (alveolar bone [AB], iliac cortical [IC] bone, and iliac spongiosa [IS]) used for alveolar onlay grafting.

Site-matched bone samples of AB, IC, and IS were harvested during alveolar onlay grafting. Proteins were extracted using a detergent-based (sodium dodecyl sulfate) strategy and trypsinized. Proteome analysis was performed using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). MaxQuant was used for peptide-to-spectrum matching, peak detection, and quantitation. Linear models for microarray analysis (LIMMA) were used to detect differentially abundant peptides and proteins.

A total of 1730 different proteins were identified across the 15 samples at a false discovery rate of 1%. Partial least-squares discriminant analysis approved segregation of AB, IC, and IS protein profiles. LIMMA statistics highlighted 66 proteins that were more abundant in AB then in IC (vs. 92 proteins were enriched in IC over AB). Gene Ontology enrichment analysis revealed a matrisomal versus an immune-related proteome fingerprint in AB versus IC.

This pilot study demonstrates an ECM protein-related proteome fingerprint in AB and an immune-related proteome fingerprint in IS and IC.

A simple check test method was designed to confirm whether a 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) filter for formaldehyde can be used to measure other compounds.

Sample mixtures containing the same concentrations of formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and acetone were spiked to the DNPH-filter, extracted, and then measured using high performance liquid chromatography with photodiode array detector (HPLC-PDA). check details The amounts of DNPH-derivatives versus the amounts of spiked samples were then plotted.

When the amount of DNPH<<the total amount of spiked samples, the amount of DNPH-derivatives was formaldehyde>acetaldehyde>>acetone. This order corresponded to the relative rate constants for the reaction. Therefore, this study confirmed that acetone was not collected at the formaldehyde sampling rate.

This check test easily measured the reaction rate order and can be used as a simple test to determine whether other samples can be measured by the analytical methods used for the specified sample.

This study aimed to unveil perrhenate sorption properties of the filamentous sheaths formed by Sphaerotilus montanus, Sphaerotilus natans and Thiothrix fructosivorans.

The adsorptions of perrhenate on lyophilizates of the above-mentioned filamentous sheaths were analysed by ICP, IR, XPS and EDX. The capacity reached 82 mg per g-adsorbent, when using S. natans. The Langmuir coefficient of this adsorbent was found to be the largest of the three. The adsorption capacity was discussed with respect to the amount of nitrogen and phosphorus in the adsorbents. The occurrence of anion exchange was implied by the IR spectrum changes before and after adsorption. The adsorption data fitted well with a pseudo-second-order equation, suggesting that the rate is determined by the chemical bond formation.

A significant amount of perrhenate was adsorbed on the sheaths formed by S. montanus, S. natans and T. fructosivorans. The adsorption was correlated with the elemental compositions. A strong chemical bond formation was suggested from the results of the Langmuir adsorption isotherm and kinetic analysis.

The capacity obtained for S. natans is one of the largest adsorptions amongst the similar biomaterials, implying the possibility of providing economical adsorbents of rare metal oxyanions.

However, there has been a constant concern with respect to its long-term usage as some of the studies have identified the risk of cutaneous malignancy associated with phototherapy. The carcinogenic potential of PUVA has been demonstrated in most US studies; however, the studies done on Asian and Arabian-African population have not corroborated similar findings, thus suggesting that the darker skin may confer protection against the development of cutaneous malignancy following phototherapy. The main aim of the present study was to assess the safety of phototherapy (bath PUVA and NBUVB) in Indian population (Fitzpatrick skin types IV and V) with respect to its carcinogenic potential and to determine the maximum cumulative dose that our patients could tolerate without developing any untoward complications such as cutaneous malignancy. All patients who received phototherapy between January 2006 an. However, more studies need to be done on the Asian population to substantiate the same.

The purpose of this study was to analyse the effects of siderophore-producing bacteria and bacterial siderophore on the iron nutrition of apple rootstocks under iron-deficient conditions.

We isolated three Pseudomonas strains, SP1, SP2 and SP3 from the rhizosphere of the Fe-efficient apple rootstocks using the chrome azurol S agar plate assay. We found that all three strains had the ability to secrete indole acetic acid-like compounds and siderophores, especially SP3. When Fe-inefficient rootstocks treated with SP3 were grown in alkaline soil, an increase in the biomass, root development, and Fe concentration was observed in the plants. In addition, SP3 secreted pyoverdine, a siderophore that can chelate Fe

to enhance the bioavailability of Fe for plants. We purified the pyoverdine from the SP3 culture supernatant. Hydroponic experiments were conducted with a Fe-deficient solution supplemented with pyoverdine, resulting in a reduction in the chlorosis caused by Fe deficiency and marked improvement in Feural production.

Plant beneficial rhizobacteria (PBR) improve salt tolerance and plant yield in vegetable plants by producing 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate-deaminase, indole-3-acetic acid and phosphate solubilization. Organic-based carrier material is needed to ensure the PBR's uniform application, distribution, survival and functioning in a variety of fields. The PBR also use carbon present in the carrier as food and energy source. The selection of a suitable organic-based carrier material for the application of the PBR in normal and saline soils always has received less attention. The current study compared the PBR suitability of different organic-based carrier materials (biochar, biogas residues [BGRs] and coconut powder) and evaluated their effects on okra productivity under normal and saline soil conditions.

In a pot experiment, the PBR strain Bacillus sp. MR-1/2 (accession number, MG548383) was applied with/or without organic-based carrier materials to okra grown in three different soils S1 (EC 1.0dS m

), S2 (ults, while in soil S3, biochar as carrier for PBR resulted in enhanced potassium (K

) and calcium (Ca

) uptake and increased the productivity of okra.

Response of different carrier materials in supporting PBR under different soil conditions was variable. This study will help in the selection and use of best suitable carrier material for PBR application under different soil conditions. It is recommended that farmer should use BGR as carrier material for PBR application in normal soils while biochar should be used as carrier for the PBR application in saline soil.

This study was carried out from January 2018 to March 2020 in Kolkata, eastern India to determine the prevalence rates and epidemiological patterns associated with the major viral agents of gastroenteritis among children ≤5 years of age. Molecular characterization of GARV, the predominant agent of viral gastroenteritis, was done to understand their genotype diversity.

1284 of 3157 stool samples (~40%) from children (≤5 years) with acute gastroenteritis tested positive for one or more enteric viruses with positivity rates 25.11%, 8.74%, 6.62% and 6.11% for GARV, HAdV-F, AstV and NoV respectively. Co-infection was observed in 5.31% of cases. Associated clinical/meteorological variables like age, sex, symptoms, temperature and precipitation were assessed to find any correlation between these and enteric virus infection rates. >70% of viral gastroenteritis cases were observed in 6-24 months' age group. GARV and AstV infection occurred mostly during cooler months while HAdV-F infection mostly occurred durineline data for future surveillance studies in evaluating the impact of the introduced GARV vaccine on the overall prevalence of viral gastroenteritis.

To overcome the defective unstable production of p-coumaric acid (p-CA) using episomal plasmids and simultaneously achieve genetic stability and high-copy integration in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Two-micron plasmids were used to obtain high titres of p-CA, but p-CA production was decreased significantly in a nonselective medium after 72h. To overcome the defect of unstable p-CA production during fermentation, delta integration with the triosephosphate isomerase gene from Schizosaccharomyces pombe (POT1) was employed as a selection marker to integrate heterologous p-CA synthesis cassette, and the high-level p-CA-producing strain QT3-20 was identified. In shake flask fermentation, the final p-CA titre of QT3-20 reached 228.37 mg L

at 168 h, 11-fold higher than integrated strain QU3-20 using URA3 as the selective marker, and 9-fold higher than the best-performing episomal expression strain NKE1. Additionally, the p-CA titre and gene copy number remained stable after 100 generations of QT3-20 in a nonselective medium.

We achieved high-copy genome integration and stable heterologous production of p-CA via a POT1-mediated strategy in S. cerevisiae.

With superior genetic stability and production stability in a nonselective medium during fermentation, the high-level p-CA-producing strain constructed via POT1-mediated delta integration could serve as an efficient platform strain, to eliminate the threat of unstable and insufficient supply for future production of p-CA derivatives, make downstream processing and biosynthesis much simpler.
