CcoLI, protrudes into the active site. The results of mutational assays indicate that Lys71 is important for the AP lyase activity of R.CcoLI. Our results help to elucidate the mechanism by which HALFPIPE superfamily proteins from mesophiles efficiently introduce double-strand breaks to specific sites on double-stranded DNA.Macrotermes barneyi, widely distributed in southern China, is the major fungus-growing termite in the subfamily Macrotermitinae. It has no flagellated protists in the guts. Here, we report occurrence of gregarine, a protozoan parasite in the digestive tract of M. barneyi. The general morphology and ultrastructure of the gregarine gamonts and syzygies by light micrograph and scanning electron micrograph are presented. SSU rDNA sequence analysis showed that the termite gregarine has the highest identity (90.10%) to that of Gregarina blattarum from cockroaches. Phylogenetic analysis based on the SSU rDNA sequences from diverse insect eugregarines indicated that the gregarine from M. barneyi is phylogenetically close to G. blattarus, L. erratica and G. tropica from Gregarinidae and Leidyanidae families, and may represent a novel species. This study expands our knowledge about the diversity of terrestrial eugregarines parasitizing in termites.Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is used to analyze human body composition by applying a small alternating current through the body and measuring the impedance. The smaller the electrode of a BIA device, the larger the impedance measurement error due to the contact resistance between the electrode and human skin. Therefore, most commercial BIA devices utilize electrodes that are large enough (i.e., 4 × 1400 mm2) to counteract the contact resistance effect. LY 3200882 We propose a novel method of compensating for contact resistance by performing 4-point and 2-point measurements alternately such that body impedance can be accurately estimated even with considerably smaller electrodes (outer electrodes 68 mm2; inner electrodes 128 mm2). Additionally, we report the use of a wrist-wearable BIA device with single-finger contact measurement and clinical test results from 203 participants at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital. The correlation coefficient and standard error of estimate of percentage body fat were 0.899 and 3.76%, respectively, in comparison with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. This result exceeds the performance level of the commercial upper-body portable body fat analyzer (Omron HBF-306). With a measurement time of 7 s, this sensor technology is expected to provide a new possibility of a wearable bioelectrical impedance analyzer, toward obesity management.Executive function plays a critical role in regulating behaviour. Behaviour which directs attention towards the correct solution leads to increased executive function performance in children, but it is unknown how other animals respond to such scaffolding behaviour. Dogs were presented with an A-not-B detour task. After learning to go through gap A to obtain the reward, the barrier was reversed, and the dogs had to inhibit their learned response and enter through gap B on the opposite side. Failure to do so is known as the perseveration error. In test trials, dogs taking part in one of two scaffolding conditions, a pointing condition, where the experimenter pointed to the new gap, and a demonstration condition, where the experimenter demonstrated the new route, were no less likely to commit the perseveration error than dogs in a control condition with no scaffolding behaviour. Dogs' lack of responsiveness to scaffolding behaviour provides little support for suggestions that simple social learning mechanisms explains scaffolding behaviour in humans. Instead, our results suggest that the theory of natural pedagogy extends to the development of executive function in humans. This suggests that human children's predisposition to interpret ostensive-communicative cues as informative may be an innate, species-specific adaptation.Walking while using a mobile phone has been shown to affect the walking dynamics of young adults. However, this has only been investigated using treadmill walking at a fixed walking speed. In this study, the dynamics of over ground walking were investigated using lower trunk acceleration measured over 12 consecutive trials, following differing walking speed and mobile phone use instructions. Higher walking speed significantly increased the proportion of acceleration along the vertical measurement axis, while decreasing the proportion of acceleration along the anteroposterior axis (p less then 0.001). Moreover, higher walking speed also resulted in increased sample entropy along all measurement axes (p less then 0.05). When walking while texting, the maximum Lyapunov exponent increased along the anteroposterior and vertical measurement axes (p less then 0.05), while sample entropy decreased significantly along the vertical axis (p less then 0.001). Walking speed and mobile phone use both affect the walking dynamics of young adults. Walking while texting appears to produce a reduction in local dynamic stability and an increase in regularity, however, caution is required when interpreting the extent of this task effect, since walking speed also affected walking dynamics. The existing control chart for monitoring the blood components by attribute is designed using classical statistics. The existing attribute control chart can be applied only when the experimenter is sure about the proportion of defective or all the observations in the sample are determined. In this paper, new attribute control charts for monitoring the blood components under the neutrosophic statistics will be presented. The design of the proposed control chart is given under the neutrosophic statistical interval method. The applications of these control charts demonstrate that the proposed control charts are quite effective, adequate, flexible, and informative for monitoring the blood components under uncertain environment.Multimode fibers (MMFs) have the potential to carry complex images for endoscopy and related applications, but decoding the complex speckle patterns produced by mode-mixing and modal dispersion in MMFs is a serious challenge. Several groups have recently shown that convolutional neural networks (CNNs) can be trained to perform high-fidelity MMF image reconstruction. We find that a considerably simpler neural network architecture, the single hidden layer dense neural network, performs at least as well as previously-used CNNs in terms of image reconstruction fidelity, and is superior in terms of training time and computing resources required. The trained networks can accurately reconstruct MMF images collected over a week after the cessation of the training set, with the dense network performing as well as the CNN over the entire period. In Australia, significant shifts in species distribution have occurred with the loss of megafauna, changes in indigenous Australian fire regime and land-use changes with European settlement. The emu, one of the last megafaunal species in Australia, has likely undergone substantial distribution changes, particularly near the east coast of Australia where urbanisation is extensive and some populations have declined. We modelled emu distribution across the continental mainland and across the Great Dividing Range region (GDR) of eastern Australia, under historical, present and future climates. We predicted shifts in emu distribution using ensemble modelling, hindcasting and forecasting distribution from current emu occurrence data. Emus have expanded their range northward into central Australia over the 6000 years modelled here. Areas west of the GDR have become more suitable since the mid-Holocene, which was unsuitable then due to high precipitation seasonality. However, the east coast of Australia has become climatically sub-optimal and will remain so for at least 50 years. The north east of NSW encompasses the range of the only listed endangered population, which now occurs at the margins of optimal climatic conditions for emus. Being at the fringe of suitable climatic conditions may put this population at higher risk of further decline from non-climatic anthropogenic disturbances e.g. depredation by introduced foxes and pigs. The limited scientific knowledge about wild emu ecology and biology currently available limits our ability to quantify these risks.Aim to compare the home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) and visit blood pressure monitoring in a clinical phase I single-arm pilot trial. The 18% sodium substitute salt was used in 43 hypertensives for 8 weeks, and visited once a week, while weekly visit blood (VBP) pressure, daily home blood pressure (HBP) and urine test results before and after intervention were collected. 43 hypertensive patients were recruited, 4 were lost. And enrolled 39 patients for analysis. The VBP were lower than morning HBP and night HBP (P less then 0.05). And VBP was good correlated with morning BP (SBP r = 0.692, P less then 0.001, DBP r = 0.789, P less then 0.001) and night BP (SBP r = 0.571, P less then 0.001, DBP r = 0.738, P less then 0.001). The results of mixed linear model analysis showed that patients' visit SBP (- 11.4 mmHg, 95% CI - 17.0 to - 5.7, P less then 0.001), morning home SBP (- 10.0 mmHg, 95% CI - 16.4 to - 3.6, P = 0.003) and night home SBP (- 10.2 mmHg, 95% CI - 15.8 to - 4.6, P = 0.001) decreased significantly, after intervention. Both HBP and VBP showed that 18% substitute salt intervention could decrease the blood pressure of hypertensives. Medication led to VBP lower than HBP, but the two still had a good correlation.Trial registration NCT03226327. Registered 21 July 2017-Retrospectively registered, http//www.clinicaltrials.gov .Cardiolipin (CL), a crucial component in inner mitochondrial membranes, interacts with cytochrome c (cyt c) to form a peroxidase complex for the catalysis of CL oxidation. Such interaction is pivotal to the mitochondrial regulation of apoptosis and is affected by the redox state of cyt c. In the present study, the redox-dependent interaction of cyt c with CL was investigated through amide hydrogen/deuterium exchange coupled with mass spectrometry (HDXMS) and quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D). Ferrous cyt c exhibited a more compact conformation compared with its ferric form, which was supported by the lower number of deuterons accumulated and the greater amplitude reduction on dissipation. Upon association with CL, ferrous cyt c resulted in a moderate increase in deuteration, whereas the ferric form caused a drastic increase of deuteration, which indicated that CL-bound ferric cyt c formed an extended conformation. These results were consistent with those of the frequency (f) - dissipation (D) experiments, which revealed that ferric cyt c yielded greater values of |ΔD/Δf| within the first minute. Further fragmentation analysis based on HDXMS indicated that the effect of CL binding was considerably different on ferric and ferrous cyt c in the C-helix and the Loop 9-24. In ferric cyt c, CL binding affected Met80 and destabilized His18 interaction with heme, which was not observed with ferrous cyt c. An interaction model was proposed to explain the aforementioned results.
