Hop distance, peak tibial acceleration (PTA), time to PTA, and the acceleration slope were assessed during each hop landing.

Repeated-measures analysis of variance determined no significant effect of the attachment method on hop metrics (P = .252). Across 3 trials, both fixation methods (DST and SS) had excellent reliability values (intraclass correlation coefficient .868-.941) for PTA and acceleration slope but not for time to PTA (intraclass correlation coefficient .397-.768). The PTA for DST (27.22 [7.94] g) and SS (26.21 [10.48]g) was comparable and had a moderate, positive relationship (DST r = .72, P < .01; SS r = .77, P < .01) to SLH distance.

Tibial inertial measurement units with triaxial accelerometers can reliably assess PTA during performance of the SLH, and SS is a viable alternative tibial attachment to DST.

The present looking time study investigated whether infants are able to distinguish between two abstract categories (food and toys), and how this ability may extend beyond perceived information by manipulating object familiarity in several ways. Test trials displayed 1) the exact familiarized objects paired as they were during familiarization, 2) a cross-pairing of these same familiar objects, 3) novel objects in the same category as the familiarized items, or 4) novel objects in a different category. Compared to the most familiar test trial (i.e., Familiar Category, Familiar Objects, Familiar Pairings), infants looked longer to all other test trials. Although there was a linear increase in looking time with increased novelty of the test trials (i.e., Novel Category as the most novel test trial), the looking times did not differ significantly between the Novel Category and Familiar Category, Unfamiliar Objects trials. This study contributes to our understanding of how infants form object categories based on object familiarity, object co-occurrence, and information abstraction. This paper presents an intensification study of an ozonation process through an ultrasonic pre-treatment for the elimination of humic substances in water and thus, improve the quality of water treatment systems for human consumption. Humic acids were used as representative of natural organic matter in real waters which present low biodegradability and a high potential for trihalomethane formation. Androgen Receptor phosphorylation Ultrasonic frequency (98 kHz, 300 kHz and 1 MHz), power (10-40 W) and sonicated volume (150-400 mL) was varied to assess the efficiency of the ultrasonic pre-treatment in the subsequent ozonation process. A direct link between hydroxyl radical (HO) formation and fluorescence reduction was observed during sonication pre-treatment, peaking at 300 kHz and maximum power density. Ultrasound, however, did not reduce total organic carbon (TOC). Injected ozone (O3) dose and reaction time were also evaluated during the ozonation treatment. With 300 kHz and 40 W ultrasonic pre-treatment and the subsequent ozonation step (7.4 mg O3/Lgas), TOC was reduced from 21 mg/L to 13.5 mg/L (36% reduction). HO attack seems to be the main degradation mechanism during ozonation. A strong reduction in colour (85%) and SUVA254 (70%) was also measured. Moreover, changes in the chemical structure of the macromolecule were observed that led to the formation of oxidation by-products of lower molecular weight. In this study, we aimed to detect promising prognostic factors of breast cancer and interpreted the relevant mechanisms using an integrated bioinformatics analysis. RNA sequencing profile of breast cancer was downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and the Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) databases, which were combined as a group (TCGA_GTEx). GSE70947 dataset was from Gene Expression Omnibus. Blue and turquoise modules, respectively identified in TCGA_GTEx database and GSE70947 dataset using weighted co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), were both notably associated with breast cancer. By comparing genes in the two significant modules with differentially expressed genes (DEGs), we obtained a set of 40 shared genes, which were mainly enriched in chromosome segregation and mismatch repair pathway. After protein-protein interaction (PPI) network and overall survival analysis, two hub genes EXO1 and KIF4A were extracted from the set of 40 shared genes, which were up-regulated and associated with the dismal outcome of breast cancer patients. There was a notable negative correlation between EXO1 and KIF4A expression and age of breast cancer patients, whereas a positive relationship with two another clinical traits stage and tumor category was detected. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that the two hub genes could be independent prognostic factors of breast cancer. Mechanistically, gene correlation analysis suggested that EXO1 and KIF4A exerted their oncogenic role via promoting breast cancer cell proliferation. Overall, our findings identify two promising individual prognostic predictors of breast cancer and pave the new way for diagnosis and therapy strategy of breast cancer.Thousands of genes produce polyadenylated mRNAs that still contain one or more introns. These transcripts are known as retained intron RNAs (RI-RNAs). In the past 10 years, RI-RNAs have been linked to post-transcriptional alternative splicing in a variety of developmental contexts, but they can also be dead-end products fated for RNA decay. Here we discuss the role of intron retention in shaping gene expression programs, as well as recent evidence suggesting that the biogenesis and fate of RI-RNAs is regulated by nuclear organization. We discuss the possibility that proximity of RNA to nuclear speckles - biomolecular condensates that are highly enriched in splicing factors and other RNA binding proteins - is associated with choices ranging from efficient co-transcriptional splicing, export and stability to regulated post-transcriptional splicing and possible vulnerability to decay.
