Although the text was seen as effective in the death HWLs, most participants dismissed the images. This research has implications for IT HWLs in Canada and globally. These results suggest that graphic images may be impactful in IT HWLs. Images must be supplemented with informative text that increases believability, relatability, and comprehensibility. These modifications would create HWLs that are engaging, informative, and that form part of a wider effort to spread awareness about the harmful effects of IT.Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a promising HIV prevention method. However, the rollout of PrEP among men who have sex with men (MSM) is facing challenges. This study sought to understand PrEP acceptability and service use challenges among MSM in China. The study was conducted in 2018 in Guangdong Province using a mixed-methods approach. Among 489 HIV-negative MSM who completed an online survey, 374 (76.5%) had heard of PrEP before. The most common PrEP information sources were internet/social media (32.1%) and community-based organizations (30.4%). Two-thirds (n=328) of the MSM would accept PrEP even the protective efficacy is less than 100%, 60.1% (n=294) expressed willingness to use PrEP once it is approved in China, and 59.3% (n=290) were willing to pay out of pocket. Employment, disclosure of MSM status, and mental health issues were associated with PrEP acceptability. In-depth interviews with 30 MSM revealed that high cost, low accessibility, and stigma in clinic settings were barriers to PrEP using. Primary care-based PrEP services were acceptable, but patients' confidentiality was a concern. ARV-110 PrEP promotion efforts should address social and mental health challenges among MSM and mobilize primary care systems and community-based organizations to achieve the best result.

This study was aimed at improving the water solubility and oral bioavailability of Chl by self-microemulsifying drug delivery system (Chl-SMEDDS).

Compatibility experiments, pseudo-ternary phase diagram and central composite design were used to optimize the formulation. The selected systems were further evaluated for physical characteristics, including particle size, zeta potential, and appearance. The stability,

dispersion test, and

intestinal perfusion experiments were used to evaluate the SMEDDS.

The optimal composition of Chl-SMEDDS included Labrafil M 1944 CS (35%), kolliphor RH 40 (46%), Transcutol HP (19%) and 60 mg/g Chl. The appearance of water emulsified Chl-SMEDDS was green and transparent. The particle size, ζ-potential, and transmission electron microscopy studies showed that spherical globules of Chl-SMEDDS with a size of about 22.82 ± 1.29 nm and a negative surface charge of -24.21 ± 3.45 mV were obtained. Chl-SMEDDS could remain stable at 25 °C and 4 °C for at least 6 months. The dispersion test showed that Chl-SMEDDS dispersed spontaneously to form microemulsion after disintegration of capsule shell and 90% drug dispersed in just 30 min in pH 1.2 HCl without any drug precipitation during the test period.

intestinal perfusion experiment revealed that the main absorption site for Chl-SMEDDS was duodenum.

This study indicates that SMEDDS formulation could be an effective strategy for the oral administration of Chl.

The main scope of the present investigation was to improve the bioavailability of perphenazine (PPZ) by incorporating it into the nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs).

As a result of lipophilic nature and poor aqueous solubility, as well as extensive hepatic metabolism, PPZ has low systemic bioavailability via the oral route. NLCs have shown potentials to surmount the oral delivery drawbacks of poorly water-soluble drugs.

The PPZ-NLCs were prepared by the emulsification-solvent evaporation method and subjected for particle size, zeta potential, and entrapment efficiency (EE) analysis. The optimized NLCs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and powder X-ray diffractometry (PXRD). Besides,

release behavior, storage stability, and pharmacokinetic studies followed by a single-dose oral administration in rats were performed.

Optimized PPZ-NLCs showed a particle size of less than 180 nm with appropriate EE of more than 95%. Microscopic images captured with SEM and TEM exhibited that NLCs were approximately spherical in shape. DSC and PXRD analysis confirmed reduced crystallinity of PPZ after incorporation in NLCs. FTIR spectra demonstrated no chemical interactions between PPZ and NLC components.

release studies confirmed the extended-release properties of NLC formulations. PPZ-NLCs exhibited good stability at 4 °C within three months. The oral bioavailability of NLC-6 and NLC-12 was enhanced about 3.12- and 2.49-fold, respectively, compared to the plain drug suspension.

NLC can be designated as an effective nanocarrier for oral delivery of PPZ.

Animal-assisted interventions (AAIs) are increasingly popular as treatments to reduce anxiety. However, there is little empirical evidence testing the mechanisms of action in AAIs, especially among adolescents. We examined whether two possible mechanisms, social interaction and/or physical contact with a therapy dog, might reduce anxiety during a social stressor.

To test these mechanisms, we randomly assigned 75 adolescents with low, middle, and high levels of social anxiety to complete a laboratory-based social evaluative stressor in one of three conditions social interaction with a therapy dog (no physical interaction), social plus physical interaction with a therapy dog, or no interaction with a therapy dog. We measured self-reported anxiety and autonomic reactivity during the social stressor to assess the effects of contact with a therapy dog.

We found no evidence that the presence of a real dog, with or without the opportunity to touch it, reduced anxiety or autonomic reactivity or improved cognitive performance relative to the presence of a stuffed dog in the control condition, regardless of levels of preexisting social anxiety.
