To evaluate clinical and electrophysiological features of sleep-related head jerk (SRHJ) and electromyographic activity of superficial neck muscles during head jerk.
Totally, 850 cases with video-polysomnography recording were collected, among which 50 presented with SRHJ. In these 50 patients, 15 underwent electromyography (EMG) check on bilateral sternocleidomastoid (SCM) and trapezius muscles as well as chin, while 35 had only chin EMG check. Further, the sensitivity and specificity of the both EMGs were calculated and compared.
Six among the 50 SRHJ patients had a primary complaint of involuntary head jerks associated with impaired sleep. Approximately 76.1% of head jerks occurred during REM sleep with the median head jerk index of 5.9/h, 64.5% of which were associated with electroencephalogram arousals and 66.4% with body movements. One patient showed SRHJ predominantly in NREM sleep but also in wakefulness. Surface EMG of SCM/trapezius muscles showed a sensitivity of 92% and a specificity of 97.8%, whereas chin EMG had a sensitivity of 14.5% and a specificity of 98.8%.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) are significant causes of liver-associated morbidity and mortality for millions of people globally. Ethiopia is one of the viral hepatitis-endemic countries with no national strategy for surveillance and limited data. As such, this study aimed to investigated the extent and associated risk factors of HBV and HCV among community members in southern Ethiopia.
A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted from January 2020 to August 2020. A structured questionnaire was used to collect behavioral and sociodemographic data. Serum samples were collected and assayed for seromarkers of HBV (HBsAg, anti-HBc, and anti-HBs) and HCV (anti-HCV) using ELISAs. In HBsAg-positive samples, HBV DNA was further quantified using RT-PCR. Data were entered into EpiData 3.1 and analyzed using SPSS 21.0. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis were employed.
The study included 693 participants. Seromarkers for HBsAg, anti-HCV, anti-HBc, and anti-HBs werow prevalence of HCV. This indicates that HBV is a major health problem in this community. Population-based surveillance, care, and treatment, as well as behavioral change and education programs, should be enhanced to minimize risk exposure.
In the big data era, many institutions (ie, hospitals) and firms use various methods to encourage people to disclose more personal information to gain competitive advantages in many businesses, such as healthcare and the Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Discussions on antecedents of individuals' willingness to reveal private data from individual differences perspective are limited. Drawing on information boundary theory, we examine how self-construal prompts a different regulatory focus (promotion focus versus prevention focus), thus, affects individuals' willingness to disclose private data.
A mixed-method approach was used to examine our hypothesis. Study 1 (N = 93, participants in China) manipulated self-construal in lab experiments and examined participants' actual disclosure behavior in the emerging IoT context of connected cars. Study 2 (an online survey, N = 200, participants in US) measured chronic self-construal in another disclosure context (healthcare app), replicating the preliminary effect asclose literature, and offers an effective, actionable strategy on how institutions and firms can facilitate individuals' personal information disclosure.

A medico-legal case (MLC) involves any injury or medical condition in which law enforcement agencies investigate and fix the responsibility regarding of an injury or medical condition. Incorrect or incomplete medico-legal reports (MLRs) may trigger a pause or delay in legal proceedings and patients' rights could be violated. The aim of this study is to describe the characteristics of MLCs and to identify errors in the MLRs.
This retrospective, descriptive study was conducted in a teaching hospital in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. In total, 418 MLRs furnished during a 6-month period and reviewed for characteristics of MLCs and identification of errors.
A total of 418 MLRs were included in the present study. link2 Fights or physical assault and battery formed the major proportion of MLCs amounting to 83% of MLCs. Blunt injury was the dominant type of injury in most of the cases (81.8%). In relation to errors in MLRs, no MLR in the present study were without errors.

To compare the effect of isotonic crystalloid solutions between lactated Ringer's solution (LRS) and normal saline solution (NSS) on lactate clearance in septic patients at the emergency department (ED).
This study is a single-center retrospective chart review. The study enrolled patients older than 18 years with sepsis and initial serum lactate level >2 mg/dL in the ED. The primary outcome was to determine which isotonic solution was better for serum lactate clearance in septic patients. The secondary outcomes were serum creatinine change within 24 h and the 48-h survival rate after admission.
A total of 120 patients were enrolled with a median crystalloid volume administered in the ED of 1000 mL. Within 2 h of resuscitation, there was no difference in lactate clearance between the LRS and NSS groups with median values of 29.2% and 25%, respectively (P=0.839). The 48-h survival rate after admission did not differ between the LRS and NSS groups with median values of 90% and 86%, respectively. Both isotonic solutions increased serum creatinine levels within 24 h of treatment with median values of 0.3 for each group (P=0.647).
