Background Snoring is a common condition. Previous studies have reported the relationships between snoring and metabolic syndrome (MetS) and/or its five components hypertension, hyperglycemia, low-high density lipoprotein (low-HDL), high-triglyceride level, and abdominal obesity. However, conclusions have been inconsistent, and there has been no comprehensive summary on this. Therefore, we performed a systematic review on the relationships between snoring and MetS, including each of MetS' components. Methods A systematic review and a meta-analysis were conducted following the Meta-analysis of Observational Studies in Epidemiology group and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis guidelines. Electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library were searched for publications from inception to 15 July 2020. The inverse-variance weighted method was used in the meta-analysis to calculate the pooled odds ratios (ORs) and their 95% confidence intervals (CIs) to determine.02-1.04), and 1.17 (95% CI, 1.16-2.89), respectively. Conclusion Snoring was a risk factor of MetS, and a dose-response relationship existed between the two. Timely intervention in identifying snorers can minimize as much as possible the risk of metabolic syndrome in those who snore.Temporal gait asymmetry (TGA) is a persistent post-stroke gait deficit. Compared to conventional gait training techniques, rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS; i.e., walking to a metronome) has demonstrated positive effects on post-stroke TGA. Responsiveness of TGA to RAS may be related to several factors including motor impairment, time post-stroke, and individual rhythm abilities. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between rhythm abilities and responsiveness of TGA when walking to RAS. Assessed using behavioral tests of beat perception and production, participants with post-stroke TGA (measured as single limb support time ratio) were categorized according to rhythm ability (as strong or weak beat perceivers/producers). We assessed change in TGA between walking without cues (baseline) and walking while synchronizing footsteps with metronome cues. Most individuals with stroke were able to maintain or improve TGA with a single session of RAS. Within-group analyses revealed a difference between strong and weak rhythm ability groups. Strong beat perceivers and producers showed significant reduction (improvement) in TGA with the metronome. Those with weak ability did not and exhibited high variability in the TGA response to metronome. Moreover, individuals who worsened in TGA when walking to metronome had poorer beat production scores than those who did not change in TGA. However, no interaction between TGA improvement when walking to metronome and rhythm perception or production ability was found. While responsiveness of TGA to RAS did not significantly differ based on strength of rhythm abilities, these preliminary findings highlight rhythm ability as a potential consideration when treating post-stroke individuals with rhythm-based treatments.Objective To summarize the characteristics of muscle-specific receptor tyrosine kinase antibody-positive myasthenia gravis (MuSK-MG) in Northeast China. Methods We retrospectively collected 183 confirmed MG patients and divided them into three groups based on the type of serum antibodies MuSK-MG (14 cases), acetylcholine receptor (AChR)-MG (130 cases), and double-seronegative (DSN)-MG (39 cases). The clinical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and prognosis data were analyzed. Results MuSK antibody was detected in 26.7% of seronegative MG. The mean age of onset in MuSK-MG was 53.2 ± 13.6 years. Fifty percent of MuSK-MG patients with an onset symptom of pure ocular muscle weakness. The time from onset to other muscle groups' involvement and the time from onset to myasthenic crisis had no significant difference among the three groups (P > 0.05). The proportion of Osserman classification I in MuSK-MG group was lower than that in DSN-MG group. The proportion of Osserman classification IV in MuSK-MG group was higher than that in the other two groups. The incidences of other coexisting autoimmune diseases in MuSK-MG group were higher. Prognosis after the treatment of steroid combined with tacrolimus for MuSK-MG was similar to AChR-MG treated with steroid combined with an immunosuppressant agent (P > 0.05). Conclusion Patients with MuSK-MG in Northeast China have a modestly later onset age and a proportion of patients may have a mild form of the disease with delayed disease progression. These definitions reflected a potential temporal condition as well as the variety of time perspectives underpinning the authors' conceptualizations of the construct. This paper conducted a broad literature review to analyze works that have adopted a temporal framework or supported a time-based definition of the construct. The analysis indicates two different conceptualizations of the construct as a permanent/steady mindset and as a changeable/episodic experience. As a reflective paper, the present contribution develops an overall framework for views and theories on meaningful work. It reports a critical review on the matter to elevate understanding of meaningful work for further research and applied implications in work and organizational studies.On March 10, 2020, Italy went into lockdown due to the Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic. The World Health Organization highlighted how the lockdown had negative consequences on psychological well-being, especially for children. The present study aimed to investigate parental correlates of children's emotion regulation during the COVID-19 lockdown. Within the Social Cognitive Theory framework, a path model in which parenting self-efficacy and parental regulatory emotional self-efficacy mediated the relationship between parents' psychological distress and both children's emotional regulation, and children's lability/negativity, was investigated. A total of 277 parents of children aged from 6 to 13 years completed an online survey that assessed their psychological distress, regulatory emotional self-efficacy, and parenting self-efficacy. Parents reported also children's emotional regulation and lability/negativity. A structural equation model (SEM) using MPLUS 8.3 was tested. Results showed that the hypothesized model exhibited excellent fit, chi-square (83) = 140.
