Three patients (15%) experienced drug-related Grade ≥3 adverse events, while three patients (15%) had Grade ≥2 pneumonitis/RP within 3 months after durvalumab initiation. Three months after durvalumab initiation, all the patients were alive and four patients (20%) experienced disease progression. Conclusion Durvalumab can be a feasible treatment option for patients with stage III NSCLC with baseline Grade 1 RP following CCRT.(Trial registration number UMIN000036061. The registration period was between March 2019 and December 2019.).DNA hydroxymethylation plays a very important role in some biological processes, such as DNA methylation process. In addition, its presence can also cause some diseases. In this paper, the electrical properties of cytosine hydroxymethylated (Chm) DNA sequences are studied. The density functional theory (DFT) and Landauer-Büttiker framework are used to study the decoherence conductance and transmission of the Chm strands in different configurations, which provides a theoretical basis for the detection of Chm. The results show that the conductance of the hydroxymethylated DNA strand is smaller than that of the native and methylated strands. The length dependence of the Chm strands is also studied. With the length increasing, the conductance becomes larger. This study shows that DNA methylation can be detected electrically.Cadmium (Cd) has been recognized as one of the most toxic heavy metals, which is continuously discharged into environments through anthropogenic (industrial activities, fertilizer production, and waste disposal) and natural sources with anthropogenic sources contributing greater than the natural sources. Therefore, Cd concentration sometimes increases in feeds, fodders, water bodies, and tissues of livestock including poultry in the vicinity of the industrial areas, which causes metabolic, structural, and functional changes of different organs of all animals. In poultry, bioaccumulation of Cd occurs in several organs mainly in the liver, kidney, lung, and reproductive organs due to its continuous exposure. Intake of Cd reduces growth and egg laying performance and feed conversion efficiency in poultry. Chronic exposure of Cd at low doses can also alter the microscopic structures of tissues, particularly in the liver, kidney, brain, pancreas, intestine, and reproductive organs due to increased content of Cd in these tissues. Continuous Cd exposure causes increased oxidative stress at cellular levels due to over-production of reactive oxygen species, exhausting antioxidant defense mechanisms. This leads to disruption of biologically relevant molecules, particularly nucleic acid, protein and lipid, and subsequently apoptosis, cell damage, and necrotic cell death. The histopatholocal changes in the liver, kidneys, and other organs are adversely reflected in hemogram and serum biochemical and enzyme activities. The present review discusses about Cd bioaccumulation and histopathological alterations in different tissues, pathogenesis of Cd toxicity, blood-biochemical changes, and its different ameliorative measures in poultry. This investigation was aimed at determining the concentration levels of five toxic heavy metals (lead, cadmium, chromium, arsenic, and mercury) in dried Porphyra and Laminaria samples from coastal city of China. Inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) was used for determination of lead, cadmium and total arsenic. Atomic fluorescence spectrometry was used for mercury, and liquid chromatography coupled with ICP-MS was used for arsenic speciation. The mean concentrations of lead, cadmium, chromium, total arsenic, and mercury were 0.96 ± 0.03 mg/kg, 2.62 ± 0.07 mg/kg, 1.64 ± 0.08 mg/kg, 36.67 ± 0.53 mg/kg, and 7.56 ± 0.42 μg/kg for Porphyra samples and 0.61 ± 0.03 mg/kg, 0.48 ± 0.02 mg/kg, 3.78 ± 0.56 mg/kg, 43.85 ± 1.42 mg/kg, and 46.61 ± 2.02 μg/kg for Laminaria samples. The results were comparable with previous similar research. The potential health risk assessment was conducted by comparing the calculated weekly intakes of toxic metals from Porphyra and Laminaria with provisional tolerable weekly intake. Consumption of these seaweeds does not seem to pose a risk for the consumers' health regarding their content of heavy metals. However, the potential health risk of cadmium should not be overlooked for consumers with high intake of Porphyra.Orthopedic implant coatings with optimal surface features to achieve favorable osteo/angio-genesis and inflammatory response would be of great importance. However, to date, few coatings are capable of fully satisfying these requirements. In this work, to take advantage of the structural complexity of micro/nano-topography and benefits of biological trace elements, two types of boron-containing nanostructures (nanoflakes and nanolamellars) were introduced onto plasma-sprayed calcium silicate (F-BCS and L-BCS) coatings via hydrothermal treatment. The C-CS coating using deionized water as hydrothermal medium served as control. learn more Boron-incorporated CS coating stimulated osteoblastic differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). Specifically, the combination of β1 integrin-vinculin-mediated cell spreading and activation of bone morphogenetic protein signaling pathway acted synergistically to cause significant upregulation of runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2) protein and Runx2 gene expression in BMSCs on the F-BCS coating surface, which induced the transcription of downstream osteogenic differentiation marker genes. F-BCS coating allowed specific boron ion release, which favored angiogenesis as evidenced by the enhanced migration and tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells in the coating extract. Boron-incorporated coatings significantly suppressed the expression of toll-like receptor adaptor genes in RAW264.7 macrophages and subsequently the degradation of nuclear factor-κB inhibitor α, accompanied by the inactivation of the downstream pro-inflammatory genes. In vivo experiments confirmed that F-BCS-coated Ti implant possessed enhanced osseointegration compared with L-BCS- and C-CS-coated implants. These data highlighted the synergistic effect of specific nanotopography and boron release from orthopedic implant coating on improvement of osseointegration.
