Background Adiantum lunulatum Burm. F. #link# leaf (AL) and its related species have been used traditionally for the treatment of various diseases. Objective The present study evaluated the hepatoprotective, and antioxidant activities of ethanolic extract of AL. Methodology and Result The hepatoprotective effect of AL was evaluated against ethanol-induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Administration of ethanol (2 g/kg) showed a significant biochemical and histological deterioration in the liver of experimental animals. Pretreatment with ethanolic extract of AL (250 and 500 mg/kg b.wt. p.o) significantly reduced the elevated levels of serum enzymes like serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (AST), serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), total protein, total bilirubin and reversed the hepatic damage in the liver which evidenced the hepatoprotective activity. The superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) level notably increased due to doses of AL. Conclusion The results of the present study demonstrate that the ethanolic extract of AL possesses hepatoprotective and antioxidant activities. Graphical Abstract.Background This study assesses the effectiveness of nurse-led intervention on self-management, self-efficacy, and blood glucose level among patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) attending diabetic Out patient department (OPD) in Sri Ramachandra Hospital, Chennai. Methods In this study, the experimental group received nurse-led intervention on video-assisted teaching regarding nature of the disease condition including, diet, medication, hand and leg exercises, home care management, for 30 mins. Then a demonstration of hand and leg exercise was done followed by return demonstration done by the participants. The participants in the control group did not receive nurse-led intervention; they received only routine care. On the 15th day, when the patients came for the first follow-up, posttest was conducted for both the experimental and control groups. Results There was a statistically considerable difference noted in self-management (t=29.639; p less then 0.001), self-efficacy (t=28.293; p less then 0.001), FBS (t=2.415; p less then 0.05), and PPBS (t=2.102; p less then 0.05) in the posttest among patients with Type 2 DM in the experimental group. Conclusions The study concluded that the nurse-led intervention through video-assisted teaching is an effective method to recover self-management and self-efficacy as well as reduce the fasting blood sugar and postprandial blood sugar among patients with Type 2 DM.Objectives The main objective of the present study is to evaluate the mitigative effect of hydroalcoholic extract of Momordica cymbalaria fruits against sodium fluoride (NaF) induced hepatotoxicity. Methods In this study, Wistar male albino rats were randomly divided into five groups of six rats each. Group I and II served as normal and toxic controls. Group III as plant control received extract at a dose of 400 mg/kg b. wt, p.o and Groups IV and V as treatment groups received extract at a dose 200 and 400 mg/kg b. wt, p.o for 30 days. All groups except Groups I and III received 100 ppm of NaF through drinking water. After completion of the study, blood collected for the estimation of liver blood serum biomarkers such as aspartate aminotransferases (AST), alanine aminotransferases (ALT), alkaline Phosphatase (ALP), direct and total bilirubin, total protein and albumin. The liver tissue homogenate was for estimation of lipid peroxidation, catalase, and reduced glutathione levels. Results The results showed that NaF intoxication caused elevation of liver blood serum levels and lipid peroxidation; decreased levels of serum total protein, albumin and liver reduced glutathione, and catalase observed. The treatment groups showed decreased elevated serum biomarkers (ALT, AST, and ALP), liver lipid peroxidation and increased serum total protein and albumin, liver reduced glutathione and catalase levels in a dose-dependent manner. Histopathological studies also further strongly supported for mitigative effects of the plant. Conclusions In conclusion, our findings of the study indicated that M. cymbalaria fruits were a potential drug candidate in the treatment of NaF induced hepatotoxicity.Objectives This study aimed to explore the protective mechanism of caffeic acid (CAA) and chlorogenic acid (CHA) on cyclosporine (CSA) induced hypertensive rats. Methods Effect of CAA and CHA on diastolic blood pressure (DBP), mean arterial pressure (MAP), angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), e-nucleotide triphosphate dephosphorylase (e-NTPDase), 5' nucleotidase and adenosine deaminase (ADA) activity in CSA-induced hypertensive rats were determined. Results CAA and CHA administration stabilized hypertensive effect caused by CSA administration. Also, altered activity of ACE (lung), e-NTPDase, 5' nucleotidase, ADA as well as elevated malondiadehyde (MDA) level was restored in all the treated hypertensive rats in comparison with the untreated hypertensive rats. Conclusion Hence, these observed results could underlie some of the mechanisms through which CAA and CHA could offer antihypertensive effect.

In this paper, we describe the steps followed for the development of a certified reference material for immunoglobulin G antibodies against β2-glycoprotein I (also known as apolipoprotein H). These steps include processing of the material, commutability, the impact of dilution, the appropriate reconstitution conditions, homogeneity and stability during transport and storage.

) to understand the transmission dynamics of the COVID-19 outbreak at a district level. We used standard mathematical modeling approaches to assess the utility of these factors in determining the effectiveness of COVID-19 responses and projecting the size of the epidemic.

Timely access to quality health care information during outbreaks of infectious diseases can be effective to curtail the spread of disease and feelings of anxiety. Although existing studies have extended our knowledge about online health information-seeking behavior, processes, and motivations, rarely have the findings been applied to an outbreak. Moreover, there is relatively little recent research on how people in China are using the internet for seeking health information during a pandemic.

The aim of this study is to explore how people in China are using the internet for seeking health information during a pandemic. Drawing on previous research of online health information seeking, this study asks the following research questions how was the "#COVID-19 Patient Seeking Help" hashtag being used by patients in Wuhan seeking health information on Weibo at the peak of the outbreak? and what kinds of health information were patients in Wuhan seeking on Weibo at the peak of the outbreak?

Using entity identification and textual analysis on 10,908 posts on Weibo, we identified 1496 patients with COVID-19 using "#COVID-19 Patient Seeking Help" and explored their online health information-seeking behavior.
