This review article summarizes the roles of estrogens and related sex hormones, immunological and genetical differences, and the benefits and limitations of existing experimental tools to fill in gaps in our understanding of the sex-based variation in PAH development and progression. Finally, we highlight the potential of a new tissue chip-based model mimicking PAH-afflicted male and female pulmonary arteries to study the sex-based differences in PAH and to develop personalized therapies based on patient sex and responsiveness to existing and new drugs.Until now, there is no clear definition of microtissue; it usually refers to the microtissue formed by the aggregation of seed cells under the action of cell-cell or cell-extracellular matrix (ECM). Compared with traditional cell monolayer culture, cells are cultivated into a three-dimensional microstructure in a specific way. The microstructure characteristics of microtissue are similar to natural tissues and can promote cell proliferation and differentiation. Therefore, it has a broader range of biomedical applications in tissue engineering. The traditional tissue engineering strategy is to add high-density seed cells and biomolecules on a preformed scaffold to construct a tissue engineering graft. However, due to the destruction of the ECM of the cells cultured in a monolayer during the digestion process with trypsin, the uneven distribution of the cells in the scaffold, and the damage of various adverse factors after the cells are implanted in the scaffold, this strategy is often ineffective, and the subs tissue engineering microtissue have not been fully elucidated. The purpose of this review is to discuss the latest research progress of microtissue and provide a reference for future research.Gastric emptying and gastric accommodation play a role in generation of upper gastrointestinal symptoms. Although both functions have been measured simultaneously using MRI or 99mTc SPECT methodology, the correlation of these two functions has not been evaluated simultaneously using a solid and liquid meal. To study relationships of whole or proximal stomach volumes to emptying, we concurrently measured postprandial gastric accommodation and emptying (over 4 h) of a 111In-labeled mixed solid and liquid meal. A semiautomated method allowing selection of a segmentation threshold based on a grayscale image was used to measure volume of the proximal half of the stomach, defined as the top half of axial slices along the vertical length of the stomach. A correction factor derived from phantom studies was applied for upscatter from the 99mTc to the 111In window. Relationships of time to emptying 10%, 25%, 50%, and 75% of the meal to fasting and postprandial gastric volumes were evaluated using Spearman correlation. accommodation volumes of the whole and proximal stomach were significantly correlated with gastric emptying. Larger stomach volumes were associated with slower gastric emptying.Maize (Zea mays L.) is one of the most important cereal crops in China, and the planting area reached 41.3 million hectares in 2019. Root rot is a widespread disease that occurs at the seedling stage of maize, resulting in leaf wilting, root rot and even plant death, and consequently yield and quality losses. During an investigation of spring maize in 2020, seedlings with wilted leaves and dark brown necrotic spots on root were observed in the fields in Kuancheng Manchu Autonomous County, Hebei Province, China. Symptomatic plants were collected for pathogen isolation and identification. The soil on roots was washed off with running water. Then, 2-3 mm necrotic root segments were sampled and surface sterilized with 75% ethanol for 2 min, rinsed three times with sterile distilled water, air-dried on sterile filter paper, and plated on potato dextrose agar (PDA). Plates were incubated at 28℃ in darkness for 3 days. A nonsporulating, dematiaceous fungus growing from root segments was transferred to fresh PDA plat These results confirmed the pathogenicity of B. zeicola on maize root. B. zeicola mainly causes an important foliar disease in many regions of the world, known as Northern corn leaf spot, in addition, it can also cause ear rot and stalk rot of maize (Liu et al. 2015). To our knowledge, this is the first report of root rot caused by B. zeicola on maize in China, which extends the known agents of maize root rot. Therefore, it is necessary to explore effective seed-applied fungicides for disease control. Alofanib in vitro Also, more attention should be paid to develop hybrids with resistance to this disease.Michelia alba (common name white champaca), native to Indonesia, is a preciously ornamental and medicinal plant in the west and southeast of China and widely distributed in Nanning, Guangxi, China (Hou et al. 2018). In May 2020, a foliar disease of M. alba was observed in Nanning (22°51' N; 108°17' E), Guangxi, China, present on ca. 20-30% of the leaves. The disease began to develop from the margins of leaves in most cases. The symptoms recorded were light yellow spots, which gradually developed into ellipsoidal to irregular brown spots, surrounded by a wide yellow halo. The spots gradually enlarged in size and became grey-brown, with the dimension of 3.5 × 2.8 to 11.0 × 3.5 cm, even more than half of leaf area. In the later stage of infection, these spots coalesced resulting in necrosis and early shedding of the leaves. Sometimes black acervuli were observed on some lesions. For isolation of the fungus, ten symptomatic leaves were randomly sampled from five trees and washed with sterile water. Small pieces o (wounded left half blade and unwounded right half blade) were inoculated with different methods for each isolate, and the tests were repeated three times. Four days after inoculation, leaf spots were observed on all wounded leaves, while 5-10% of the unwounded leaves showed lesions. Control leaves inoculated with PDA discs and sterile water remained symptomless. Colletotrichum. siamense was re-isolated from the lesions, confirming Koch's postulates. At least 60 plant species have been reported to be infected by C. siamense worldwide (Ji et al. 2019). To our knowledge, this is the first report of C. siamense causing leaf spot on M. alba in China.
