The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes, patterns of failure and laryngeal preservation rates in patients with T1N0 glottic cancer treated with surgery or radiotherapy.
Retrospective study of T1N0 glottic cancer patients treated in our institution between January 2007 and December 2017. Histologically proven squamous cell carcinoma patients, treated with upfront cordectomy/partial laryngectomy (S group) or radiotherapy (RT group) were included. Elective treatment of the neck was not permitted. Local failure (LF), disease-free survival (DFS), ultimate disease-free survival (UDFS), laryngectomy-free survival (LFS), disease-specific mortality (DSM) and overall survival (OS) were evaluated.
Two hundred and one patients were eligible (172 S group, 29 RT group), with a median follow-up of 38.8 months. Overall, 33 (16%) patients had a recurrence, 30 (17%) in the S group and 3 (10%) in the RT group. Local failure was the predominant site of failure (28 S, 2 RT). Overall, of all those that were salvaged, 17 (8%) underwent total laryngectomy (15 S, 2 RT). There was no significant difference in the 5-year cumulative incidence of LF (20.8% S, 8.1% RT,
=0.138), 5-y LFS (85.0% vs. 91.7%,
=0.809), 5-y DFS (67.5% vs. 82.1%,
=0.343), 5-y UDFS (82.5% vs. 90.3%,
=0.647) and 5-y OS (84.5% vs. 90.3%,
=0.892). Multivariate analysis showed no correlation between initial treatment and the analyzed outcomes.

This paper provides descriptions of both IS and OBM, highlighting their commonalities and unique featuers. The paper concludes with examples of how researchers have used IS and OBM to promote practitioners' use of evidence-based practices and services for children and youth with ASD.
Increase in total health expenditures is one of the main challenges of health systems worldwide, and its inequality is considered as a concern in global arena especially developing countries. This study aims to measure inequality in the distribution of selected indicators of national health accounts across the Iranian provinces.
In this study, the data on health financing agents from provincial health accounts from 2008 to 2016 were collected. Gini coefficient (GC) was used to measure inequality. The population and the number of service providers in each province were the bases to measure the GC. The Coefficient of Variation (CV) and the Rate Ratio (RR) were used to determine the dispersion and variation across the provinces. Disparity index was employed to measure the average deviation of the out-of-pocket (OOP) proportion from the desired OOP proportion presented in national development plans (NDPs) of Iran.
The distribution of resources using both bases were unequal, especially in OOP, with the higheexpenditures was higher than public one. Distribution of OOP spent by households at provincial level showed a high inequality. It is suggested that inequality measures to be considered in NDPs to illustrate how resources are distributed at the geographical level. NHA framework can help to provide robust evidence base for policymaking.

Emerging studies have disclosed long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) as pivotal modulators in the progression of prostate cancer (PCa). Current research planned to figure out the involvement of lncRNA nicotinamide nucleotide transhydrogenase antisense RNA 1 (NNT-AS1) in PCa.
RNA expression was examined using RT-qPCR in PCa cells. Functional assays assessed the viability, proliferation, apoptosis and migration of PCa cells. RNA pull down and luciferase reporter experiments detected the interplay between miRNA and lncRNA or mRNA.
NNT-AS1 was apparently upregulated in PCa cells. NNT-AS1 deficiency abrogated PCa cell viability, proliferation and migration but promoted apoptosis. Besides, miR-496 could be sequestered by NNT-AS1 to elevate the expression of DNA damage inducible transcript 4 (DDIT4) in PCa. Rescue assays indicated that overexpressed DDIT4 or restrained miR-496 could reverse the influence of NNT-AS1 depletion on malignant processes in PCa cells.

Several studies were conducted to explore the prognostic value of modified Glasgow Prognostic Score (mGPS) in pancreatic cancer, which reported contradictory results. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to summarize and further investigate the correlation between mGPS and overall survival (OS) in pancreatic cancer.
A systematic literature search was performed in PubMed, EMBASE, ISI Web of Science, Cochrane library databases and OVID to identify eligible studies published from Jan 1, 2011 to June 20, 2020. Pooled hazard ratios (HRs) with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to detect the prognostic significance of mGPS in patients with pancreatic cancer.
A total of 222 non-repetitive studies were identified, and 20 related studies that explored the association between survival outcomes and mGPS in pancreatic cancer patients were finally enrolled in this meta-analysis. The results showed a significant correlation between high level of mGPS and poor OS (HR = 1.50, 95% CI 1.20-1.89, P < 0.0001). Similar results were observed in the subgroup analyses based on the treatment regimen and research region.
Our study suggested the close association between poor prognosis and high level of mGPS, which will be helpful for future clinical applications in patients with pancreatic cancer.

Large-scale initiatives like The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) performed genomics studies on predominantly Caucasian kidney cancer. In this study, we aimed to investigate genomics of Chinese clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC).
We performed whole-transcriptomic sequencing on55 tumor tissues and 11 matched normal tissuesfrom Chinese ccRCC patients.We systematicallyanalyzed thedata fromour cohortand comprehensively compared with the TCGA ccRCC cohort.
It found that PBRM1 mutates with a frequency of 11% in our cohort, much lower than that in TCGA Caucasians (33%). Besides, 31 gene fusions including 5 recurrent ones, that associated with apoptosis, tumor suppression and metastasis were identified. We classified our cohort into three classes by gene expression. Class 1 shows significantly elevated gene expression in the VEGF pathway, while Class 3 has comparably suppressed expression of this pathway. Class 2 is characterized by increased expression of extracellular matrix organization genes and is associated with high-grade tumors.
