To characterize acalabrutinib tolerability, we pooled safety data from 1040 patients with mature B-cell malignancies treated with acalabrutinib monotherapy in nine clinical studies (treatment-naïve n = 366 [35%], relapsed/refractory n = 674 [65%]; median [range] age 67 [32-90] years; median [range] prior treatments 1 [0-13]; median [range] duration of exposure 24.6 [0.0-58.5] months). The most common adverse events (AEs) were headache (38%), diarrhea (37%), upper respiratory tract infection (22%), contusion (22%), nausea (22%), fatigue (21%), and cough (21%). Serious AEs (SAEs) occurred in 39% of patients; pneumonia (6%) was the only SAE that occurred in ≥2%. Deaths due to AEs occurred in 52 patients (5%); pneumonia (n = 8) was the only fatal AE to occur in ≥3 patients. AEs led to treatment discontinuation in 9%. Micro-RNAs (miRNAs) regulate biologic processes by potently inhibiting protein expression, and pre-clinical studies have explored their roles in AKI. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of miRNAs as therapeutics in pre-clinical AKI. Study screening, data extraction, and quality assessments were performed by 2 independent reviewers. Seventy studies involving 42 miRNA species were included in the analysis. All studies demonstrated significant effects of the miRNA intervention on kidney function and/or histology, with most implicating apoptosis and phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) signaling. Although physical spectroscopic methods such as FT-Raman and Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) are used to detect chemical changes in cancer tissues, their potential has not been investigated with respect to carcinogenesis. Here, we used a synthetic long read (SLR) sequencing approach, LoopSeq, to generate accurate sequencing reads that span full length transcripts using standard short read data. LoopSeq identified isoforms from control samples with 99.4% accuracy and a 0.01% per-base error rate, exceeding the accuracy reported for other long-read technologies. The Council on Nutrition appetite questionnaire (CNAQ) and the simplified nutritional appetite questionnaire (SNAQ) are short and simple appetite assessment tools, which were using in ALS patients. In our study, the CNAQ and SNAQ were translated into Chinese, and their reliability and validity were tested. The Chinese version of the CNAQ (CNAQ-C) presented more appropriate reliability and validity than the SNAQ. Among the 94 ALS patients, 50 patients (53.2%) had loss of appetite, and we found that anxiety and/or depression contributed to the loss of appetite in the ALS patients. We reconfirmed that loss of appetite was associated with greater weight loss but not with clinical features of ALS. The loss of appetite caused by emotional problems in ALS patients should be taken seriously, and early intervention should be implemented to reduce weight loss.
