Self-perceived burden (SPB) is an important predictor of quality of life (QoL) in patients with advanced cancer. However, the mechanism how SPB affects patients' QoL remains unclear. This study aimed to examine the potential mediating roles of existential distress (ED) and anxiety in the relationship between SPB and QoL.

A multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted. 352 advanced cancer patients were recruited from three hospitals in southeast of China. The Self-perceived Burden Scale, the Existential Distress Scale, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and the Quality-of-Life Concerns in the End of Life Questionnaire were adopted to collect data. Hayes's bootstrapping method was used to analyze the data.

SPB was negatively associated with QoL (P < 0.01). ED and anxiety partially mediated the relationship between SPB and QoL (P < 0.01). Moreover, ED had direct effects on anxiety, and sequentially QoL (P < 0.01). The serial multiple mediation model of SPB accounted for 73.25% of the variance in QoL in advanced cancer patients.

Predicting morphological changes to anatomical structures from 3D shapes such as blood vessels or appearance of the face is a growing interest to clinicians. Machine learning (ML) has had great success driving predictions in 2D, however, methods suitable for 3D shapes are unclear and the use cases unknown.

This systematic review aims to identify the clinical implementation of 3D shape prediction and ML workflows. Ovid-MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus and Web of Science were searched until 28th March 2022.

13,754 articles were identified, with 12 studies meeting final inclusion criteria. These studies involved prediction of the face, head, aorta, forearm, and breast, with most aiming to visualize shape changes after surgical interventions. ML algorithms identified were regressions (67%), artificial neural networks (25%), and principal component analysis (8%). Meta-analysis was not feasible due to the heterogeneity of the outcomes.

In this retrospective study we have used data from the Swedish Brain Tumour Registry and included patients in Sweden age 65 years or older, with surgery 1999-2017 for high grade gliomas. We analysed number of surgical procedures per year and which factors contribute to postoperative morbidity and mortality.

The study included 1998 surgical interventions from an area representing 60% of the Swedish population. In this study, genome-wide and comparative analyses of ATPS in Cardamine hupingshanensis, including sequence and structural analyses, were performed. The expression of ChATPS gene family members in C. hupingshanensis under selenium (Se) stress was also investigated, and our results suggest that ChATPS1-2 play key roles in the response to Se stress. Nine ATPS genes were found from C. hupingshanensis, which share highly conserved sequences with ATPS from Arabidopsis thaliana. In addition, we performed molecular docking of ATP sulfurylase in complex with compounds ATP, selenate, selenite, sulfate, and sulfite. The livestock research community needs a gene expression and alternative splicing database contributing to livestock genetic improvement.

We report the construction of LivestockExp ( https//bioinfo.njau.edu.cn/livestockExp ), a web-based database server for the exploration of gene expression and alternative splicing using 43,710 uniformly processed RNA-seq samples from livestock animals and several relative species across six orders. The database is equipped with basic querying functions and multiple online analysis modules including differential/specific expression analysis, co-expression network analysis, and cross-species gene expression conservation analysis. In addition to the re-analysis of public datasets, users can upload personal datasets to perform co-analysis with public datasets. The database also offers a wide range of visualization tools and diverse links to external databases enabling users to efficiently explore the results and to gain additional insights.

Here, we propose a comprehensive method for reducing aerosol emissions in a CO2 capture system under the synergy of aerosol formation inhibition and wet electrostatic precipitation. The gas-solvent temperature difference plays a vital role in aerosol formation, with aerosol emissions of 740.80 mg/m3 at 50 K and 119.36 mg/m3 at 0 K. Different effects of SO2 and SO3 on aerosol formation are also found in this research; the aerosol mass concentration could reach 2341.25 mg/m3 at 20 ppm SO3 and 681.01 mg/m3 at 50 ppm SO2 with different aerosol size distributions. After the CO2 capture process, an aerosol removal efficiency of 98% can be realized by electrostatic precipitation under different CO2 concentrations. Due to the high concentration of aerosols and aerosol space charge generated by SO2 and SO3, the removal performance of the wet electrostatic precipitator decreases, resulting in a high aerosol emission concentration (up to 130.26 mg/m3). Thus, a heat exchanger is installed before the electrostatic precipitation section to enhance aerosol growth and increase aerosol removal efficiency. Under the synergy of aerosol formation inhibition and electrostatic precipitation, an aerosol removal efficiency of 99% and emission concentrations lower than 5 mg/m3 are achieved, contributing to global warming mitigation and environmental protection.

Selenium-binding protein 1 (SELENBP1), a member of the selenium-containing protein family, plays an important role in malignant tumorigenesis and progression. However, it is currently lacking research about relationship between SELENBP1 and immunotherapy in colorectal cancer (CRC).
