This study aimed to evaluate the essential oil of Ocimum gratissimum L. (EOOG) for anesthesia and in the transport of Oreochromis niloticus. Experiment I determined the time of anesthesia induction and recovery during anesthesia of O. niloticus exposed to different concentrations of EOOG (0, 30, 90, 150, and 300 mg L-1). Based on data from Experiment I, Experiment II evaluated the effect of 0, 30, and 90 mg L-1 EOOG on blood parameters and oxidative stress immediately after anesthesia induction and 1 h after recovery. Experiment III evaluated the effect of 0, 5, and 10 mg L-1 EOOG on blood variables immediately after 4.5 h of transport of juveniles. Concentrations between 90 and 150 mg L-1 EOOG were efficient for anesthesia and recovery. The use of 90 mg L-1 of EOOG prevented an increase in plasma glucose. Other changes in blood parameters and oxidative stress are discussed. The use of 10 mg L-1 EOOG in transport increased plasma glucose and decreased hematocrit values immediately after transport. It is concluded that the use of 90 and 150 mg L-1 EOOG causes anesthesia and recovery in O. niloticus within the time intervals considered ideal. The use of 90 mg L-1 EOOG favored stable plasma glucose soon after anesthesia induction and 1 h after recovery, but caused changes in the antioxidant defense system by increasing hepatic and kidney ROS. The transport of 12 g O. niloticus for 4.5 h can be performed with concentration of 5 mg L-1 of EOOG.CA-125, coded by MUC16 gene, is responsible to many kinds of tumor metastasis. However, the related mechanism remains unclear. We have established a novel manner to reveal gallbladder cancer metastasis related to serum CA-125 levels through the C-terminal polypeptide of MUC16 gene production. MUC16 C-terminal polypeptide significantly promoted gallbladder cancer cell migration and invasion in vitro. EIDD-2801 Mass spectrum indicated that interaction of MUC16 C-terminal fragment with the C-terminal domain of stathmin1 inhibited the phosphorylation of stathmin1 to promote the combination with tubulin. Stathmin1 knockdown inhibited the migration and invasion of gallbladder cancer cells in vitro and lung metastasis in vivo induced by MUC16 C-terminal polypeptide. The high expression level of MUC16c consistent with stathmin1 was also confirmed in gallbladder cancer tissues. Our study revealed the underlying mechanism of gallbladder cancer metastasis related to CA-125 levels, which was beneficial for CA-125 in gallbladder cancer diagnose and therapy.Indigenous village chickens (IVCs) greatly contribute to food security and rural development. Consequently, IVCs cover incidental expenses, economically empower women, and support the livelihood of disadvantaged groups. Interestingly, ritual practices of traditional communities across the Global South utilise IVCs. IVCs provide several ecosystem services and possess adaptation traits resulting in their being able to survive and reproduce with minimal care. Explorative behaviours and general hardiness aroused from natural selection enable IVCs to adapt to a wide range of agroecology and management systems. IVCs are mainly kept in the extensive production system with scarce production inputs. Their management history and uncontrolled mating have enabled IVCs to have unique and diverse phenotypes. Flock size is small, typically less than 100, and the family flock consists of birds of both sexes and different ages making management a demanding task. IVCs lay few eggs (~ 40 to 60 annually) and have small body weights (~ 1.6 kg for adult cock) and low growth rates; nevertheless, they offer multiple as well as unique products and services. Productivity can be improved significantly with appropriate changes to management. There is a wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and practice associated with IVC production, which together with identified cost-effective interventions incorporating improvements in management, nutrition, disease control, and/or genetics have the potential to achieve profitable and sustainable production for the benefit of subsistence farmers and their families.

Thyroid eye disease (TED) is an autoimmune disease that causes retro-orbital inflammation and subsequent proptosis, corneal exposure, strabismus, and variable vision changes. European studies have shown that TED can severely impact quality of life (QOL), but little is known about the QOL of patients with TED in the USA. Given that patient QOL influences TED severity classifications and subsequent treatment, understanding physician-perceived patient QOL is extremely important.

This retrospective chart review (conducted in 2018) examined QOL in US patients with moderate-to-severe TED, as reported by treating physicians who regularly manage patients with TED (≥ 5 patients in prior 12months). The physicians graded patients' overall QOL (7-point Likert scale; 1 = "not at all impaired", 7 = "extremely impaired"), assessing mental health, vision changes, and ocular structural signs/symptoms. Patient demographics and clinical findings were examined to understand the impact of disease presentation on physician-pers were more frequently reported by patients with TED than in the general US population. Ocular pain, strabismus, and diplopia appear to be main drivers of physician-perceived QOL impairment in this sample of US patients with TED.

Patients' QOL, as evaluated by US physicians, is highly impacted by the activity and severity of TED. Additionally, mental health issues were more frequently reported by patients with TED than in the general US population. Ocular pain, strabismus, and diplopia appear to be main drivers of physician-perceived QOL impairment in this sample of US patients with TED.The gun embodiment effect is the consequence caused by wielding a gun on judgments of whether others are also holding a gun. This effect could be responsible for real-world instances when police officers shoot an unarmed person because of the misperception that the person had a gun. The gun embodiment effect is an instance of embodied cognition for which a person's tool-augmented body affects their judgments. The replication crisis in psychology has raised concern about embodied cognition effects in particular, and the issue of low statistical power applies to the original research on the gun embodiment effect. Thus, the first step was to conduct a high-powered replication. We found a significant gun embodiment effect in participants' reaction times and in their proportion of correct responses, but not in signal detection measures of bias, as had been originally reported. To help prevent the gun embodiment effect from leading to fatal encounters, it would be useful to know whether individuals with certain traits are less prone to the effect and whether certain kinds of experiences help alleviate the effect.
