This article focuses on case management, one of the practice components in the principle of care coordination. Case management focuses on school nurse support of individual at-risk students and collaborative actions to reduce barriers to their academic success. This article will clarify how the terms care coordination and case management are used in context of the Framework and provide an example to help the reader apply the concept to practice. This study examines the prevalence of fatal and non-fatal work-related injuries between young (under 45) and older workers (45 and above). A systematic literature review was used aimed at examining studies comparing safety outcomes, namely fatal and non-fatal injuries, between older and younger workers. Design The scoping review protocol outlined by the Joanna Brigg's Institute was used. Terms relating to hearing loss, telephones, and management strategies were searched in CINAHL, MEDLINE, and Web of Science. An additional hand search was also conducted for two journals and two publications from consumer organisations as they were known to publish relevant articles. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to the resulting 1086 texts. Strategies from the selected texts were organised into categories through thematic analyses.Study sample Eighty-four texts were included in the review.Results The effective telephone strategies fall into the following categories amplifying the telephone signal, reducing background noise, listening to the telephone through both ears, accessing text-based supports to understanding telephone speech, using Internet-based telephony, optimising mobile phones, improving telephone skills and communication strategies, and requesting accommodation in the workplace.Conclusion Strategies exist by which the telephone can be made more accessible to workers with hearing loss. In this article, we report the first successful case of fractional CO2 ablation for upper arm contouring.The majority of patients with benign ovarian cysts undergo laparoscopic surgery using both cystectomy and stripping techniques. However, these techniques have difficulty correctly identifying cleavage planes and are prone to cyst rupture. We present a surgical cystectomy technique that correctly identifies the cleavage plane with a low risk of ovarian cyst rupture, even in patients with multicystic ovarian cysts. Cystectomy was performed using Maryland forceps with gentle open and close dissecting motions only. Both the surgeon and assistant handled the ovarian cortex and cyst wall, and soft traction between the cortex and cyst wall as far as the nearby dissection plane without grasping the cyst wall was essential. In patients with multicystic ovarian cysts, making a plane at the notch between cysts decreases the risk of cyst rupture. This technique allows the correct identification of the cleavage plane for dissection and avoids the risk of cyst rupture.Impact StatementWhat is already known on this subject? Our technique might be useful for the preservation of the ovarian reserve because patients in this study had a low proportion of ovarian follicles in the surgical specimen.Prion diseases (e.g. 'mad cow' disease in cattle, chronic wasting disease in deer and elk, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans) have been a major public health concern affecting humans and almost all animals. However, dogs are strongly resistant to prion diseases. Recently, through transgenic techniques, it was reported that the single (surface) residue D159 is sufficient to confer protection against protein conformational change and pathogenesis, thus provides conformational stability for dog prion protein. This made a big breakthrough in dog prion protein research field. For dog prion protein, another advancement is the produce of its NMR structure in 2005. However, all these breakthroughs are still short of enough structural informatics of dog prion protein. This paper studies dog prion protein wild-type and D159N mutant through molecular dynamics (MD) techniques. Our MD results reveal sufficient structural informatics on the residue at position 159 to understand the mechanism underlying the resistance to prion diseases of dogs.
