Copyright © 2020, Yatsu et al.Madelung's deformity (MD) is frequently associated with Leri-Weill's dyschondrosteosis (LWD) even if the primary isolated form (PI-MD) is much more common. Recent studies pointed out how two abnormal ligaments, the Vickers ligament (VL) and the radiotriquetral ligament (RTL), are defining traits of MD. To date, in PI-MD, both VL and RTL have been reported. In MD associated with LWD (LWD-MD), the VL is also present, but the RTL has never been reported. We herein report the first case of MD associated with a genetically confirmed LDW with an RTL, detected on MRI. This report describes the MRI imaging features of MD-LWD, which have not been adequately characterized in previous literature. Copyright © 2020, De Leucio et al.Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) is a life-threatening drug-induced hypersensitivity reaction that is most closely associated with antiepileptics and antibiotics. While cases of DRESS are rare, here we present a case of DRESS in an adult male following administration of rosuvastatin who presented with fevers, generalized rash, and facial fullness. Vitals on presentation were temperature 102oF, pulse 95/min, blood pressure 95/47 mmHg, and respiratory rate of 14/min. His physical examination revealed scleral icterus, generalized blanching maculopapular rash, facial fullness, and right upper quadrant tenderness. Laboratory investigations found hemoglobin 10 gm/dl, white blood cell count 16.0 K/uL, peripheral eosinophil count 1,700 K/uL, alkaline phosphatase 2,501 U/L, aspartate transaminase 620 U/L, alanine transaminase 680 U/L, total bilirubin 13.2 mg/dl with a direct component of 9 mg/dl, blood urea nitrogen 66 mg/dl, creatinine 5.20 mg/dl, glomerular filtration rate 8 ml/min, and immunoglobulin E level 623 IU/mL. Serology for viral hepatitis, Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus, and human herpesvirus 6 was negative. It gives off two terminal branches, the radial and ulnar arteries. According to the literature, the brachial artery might present a deviation from the normal pattern in 20% of the cases. High bifurcation of the artery seems to be the most common variation and may result in a series of complications during surgery and interventional radiology. An embryological overview is necessary for a better understanding of this variant. The brachial artery is being developed during embryonic life by the main trunk of the axis artery. The superficial brachial artery is also an important stable fetal vessel for normal arterial morphogenesis of the upper limb. Most treatment guidelines recommend the use of ultrapotent topical corticosteroids. However, the relapse rate is usually high. Through a retrospective study we evaluated the efficacy and safety of stromal vascular fraction of adipose tissue as therapy for lichen sclerosus. Material and methods For this retrospective review, we obtained data on patients with vulvar lichen sclerosus treated with autologous fat grafting enriched with adipose derived stromal vascular fraction cells. Data collected through a modified vulvo-vaginal symptoms questionnaire were analyzed before treatment, six months and 24 months after treatment. The 19 items questionnaire was subdivided in four categories symptoms, signs, social functioning and sexual functioning. Global scores and partial scores for each category were analyzed using paired t-test. For all statistical analyses, a value of p ≤ 0.05 was considered statistically significant. All data are presented as mean ± SD. Results Thirty nine patients were included in the study. Thirty seven patients (94.87%) experienced a significant decrease in global score at six months and 24 months after treatment (p less then 0.05). Decrease in scores were also statistically significant between pretreatment and 24 months after treatment for each of the four questionnaire categories - symptoms, signs, social functioning and sexual functioning (p less then 0.05). Conclusions This retrospective study showed that the use of autologous fat grafting enriched with adipose derived stromal vascular fraction is safe and leads to significant and long lasting improvement in patients with vulvar lichen sclerosus. Diabetes is a major risk factor for cardiac dysfunctions, and olive oil prevents diabetes-induced adverse myocardial remodeling. Objective The study aimed to evaluate the effects of olive oil against streptozotocin-induced cardiac dysfunction in animal models of diabetes and ischemia and reperfusion (I/R)-induced cardiac arrhythmias. Methods Diabetes was induced in male rats with a single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (60 mg/kg i.p), rats were treated for five, 15, or 56 days with olive oil (1 ml/kg p.o). Control animals received saline. Blood glucose and body weight were monitored every two weeks. At the end of the treatment, rats were sacrificed and hearts were isolated for mounting on Langedorff's apparatus. The effect of olive oil on oxidative stress and histopathological changes in the cardiac tissues were studied.
