Life-threatening head injury risks (0.0% - 100%) were caused by the ground-pedestrian contact, and life-threatening brain injury risks (0.0 - 97.9%) were caused by the initial vehicle-wheelchair contact and ground-pedestrian contact. Thoracic and abdominal compression reported no risks of life-threatening injuries, but may do so in faster impacts or with different wheelchair designs. Protective equipment such as the wheelchair seatbelt or personal airbag may be useful in reducing injury risks but future research is required to investigate their efficacy.The adhesion between flexible epidermal sensors and human skin is essential for maintaining the stable functionality of the sensors. However, it is still challenging for epidermal electronic devices to achieve durable adhesion to the surface of the skin, especially under sweaty or humid conditions. Here, we report a silk fibroin-polyacrylamide (SF-PAAm) double network (DN) hydrogel adhesive with excellent biocompatibility, strong and durable adhesion on wet surfaces, and tunable adhesive properties. The hydrophilic PAAm network greatly improves the water retention capability of the DN hydrogel and reduces the β-sheet crystalline content of SF, leading to excellent adhesive properties of the hydrogel across a wide range of humidity. The SF-PAAm DN hydrogel adhesive can be readily integrated with different epidermal sensor arrays and performs very well in real-time on-body sweat sensing. The SF-PAAm DN hydrogels have great potential for application in various epidermal healthcare sensors as well as medical adhesives for other medical applications.This study aimed to compare the changes in psychological status and cortisol level between multiple sclerosis (MS) patients and a healthy control group (HC). One hundred and fifty-five MS patients and 165 HC subjects had completed questionnaires consisting of 36-Item short health survey (SF-36), Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A), Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II), and fatigue severity score (FSS) before and after (one year from onset) COVID-19 pandemic. The salivary cortisol level was also measured again in 26 MS patients and 14 control individuals. MS patients had lower scores of mental and physical components of quality of life (MCS and PCS), but higher HAM-A, FSS, and BDII scores than HC Before and after COVID-19. There were significant changes in scores of MCS, BDI-II, HAM-A, and FSS after the COVID-19 outbreak in MS patients, but not in PCS score. In HC group, we observed significant changes in scores of MCS, BDI-II, and FSS, but not in scores of PCS and HAM-A. Compared to HC, the MS patients reported greater deterioration in the overall mental health component of their health-related quality of life, and their levels of anxiety and fatigue over the study period. The change of cortisol levels was non-significant with a small effect size.
Evidence of poor sleep health among children in foster care continues to mount, but information about whether and how sleep problems are addressed is unavailable. The goal of this study was to begin to fill these significant knowledge gaps.
Four hundred eighty-five foster caregivers from across the United States completed a survey focused on the sleep health of one child, 4 to 11 years ( M = 6.4; SD = 2.2) currently in their care. Caregivers provided quantitative and qualitative responses to questions regarding training, information, and services received in relation to their child's sleep. Caregivers also reported on the factors and strategies they perceived as most important for helping children in their care sleep well.
Only 13% of caregivers reported receiving any information/education about sleep from agencies or case workers, whereas 55% had sought help from a health provider related to their child's sleep. Nearly half of all caregivers (46%) reported giving their child melatonin. Caregivers reported that a bedtime routine/consistency, reassurance of safety/love, and a calming environment were most important for helping their child sleep well. A recurrent theme in qualitative responses was a need to mitigate child fear/anxiety at night.

To determine the prevalence of vertebral hemangiomas (VHs), establish a new classification of VHs based on their MRI-signal pattern, and study their natural history.
MRI of 1000 consecutive patients who underwent at least two MRI with an interval of at least 3years. Growth rate and change of MRI-signal pattern during the follow-up period were the parameters included in studying the natural history of VHs.
The prevalence of VHs was 41%. VHs were classified as type I-IV with fat-rich VHs (type I), constituted 79% of all VHs. VHs were more common among females 43% versus males 39%,
= .22. The most affected vertebra was L1. Occurrence rates for cervical (1%), thoracic (7%), and lumbar spine (10%) differed significantly (
< .001). The prevalence of VHs increased with age regardless of gender or spinal part involved (
< .001). Only 26% of VHs changed their size and 4% changed their signal during the average follow-up of 7years. All VHs were slowly growing lesions (average expected growth of <3mm/10years). No significant difference between growth rate of VHs type I (0.25mm/year) and other types of VHs. None of the VHs that were initially reported as "metastases cannot be rule out" showed alarming change in signal or size.

Effective methods to control the CD structure and modulate the energy levels are critical but still challenging. Here, we demonstrate a method to modulate the afterglow emission of CDs@SiO2 composites by controlling the carbonization degree of CDs with variable calcining temperatures. The CDs@SiO2-Raw prepared with a hydrothermal bottom-up synthesis method shows a more polymerized structure of CDs with low carbonization degree, which emits long-lived thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) with the lifetime of 252 ms. After calcination at 550 °C, CDs@SiO2-550 exhibits a larger conjugated π-domain structure with higher carbonization degree, thus inducing room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) emission with a lifetime of 451 ms. CID755673 The transformation of the carbonization degree of CD structures leads to changes in energy levels and ΔEST, which affect their afterglow luminescence behaviors. In this study, we first adopted the strategy of breaking the "His-Phe switch" to solve two problems, simultaneously. A structure-based design approach was successfully utilized to obtain compound 16g, which is a potent TRβ agonist (EC50 21.0 nM, 85.0% of the maximum efficacy of 1) with outstanding selectivity for TRβ over TRα and also effectively activates the TRβH435R mutant. Then, we developed a highly efficient synthetic method for 16g. Our serials of cocrystal structures revealed detailed structural mechanisms in overcoming subtype selectivity and rescuing the H435R mutation. 16g also showed excellent lipid metabolism, safety, metabolic stability, and pharmacokinetic properties.
