These conclusions are generalized to the broader members of this structure type with the examination of the CP schemes for the isostructural Mo4Zr9B, Al5Co2, and Mg5Pd2 phases. Finally, we screen the structural literature using the ToposPro software to identify three additional structure types that have similar intergrowth patterns the Dy4CoCd, La23Ni7Mg4, and Gd14Co3In3 types. An analysis of the interatomic distances within the octahedral networks of these structures suggests that these networks commonly facilitate the reconciliation of packing incompatibilities in intermetallic chemistry.Recently we have demonstrated that the surface plasmon of noble metal nanoparticles can effectively enhance the ECL intensity of Ru(bpy)32+, and we named this detection principle as surface-enhanced electrochemiluminescence (SEECL-I). However, SEECL based on photomultiplier tube (PMT) detection can only detect one target at a time, which is not suitable for multiple targets detection. In this work, we combined our previous developed SEECL with a bioimaging device to develop a novel multiplexed immunassay for simultaneous and fast analysis of cancer markers. A core-shell nanocomposite consisted of gold-silicon dioxide nanoparticles doped with Ru(bpy)32+(Au@SiO2-Ru) with strong ECL emission was employed as ECL label due to the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of AuNPs, which can significantly enhance the ECL emission of Ru(bpy)32+. The ECL signals from the 4 × 4 electrode arrays were collected using the constant potential method (current-time curve method) imaging with a sCOMS camera. As a proof-of-concept application, we demonstrated the use of the proposed SEECL-I for simultaneous detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), neuron specific enolase (NSE), and squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC) in exhaled breath condensates (EBCs) with low detection limit (LOD) of 0.17, 0.33, and 0.33 pg/mL (S/N = 3), respectively. The results demonstrated that the proposed SEECL-I strategy can provide a high sensitivity, fast analysis, and high-throughput platform for clinical diagnosis of cancer markers in EBCs.

While there is recent data suggesting an advantage of computed tomography angiography (CTA) over transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) for preprocedural left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) planning, there is limited published experience for sizing strategies. Device sizing for LAAC may be challenging and noninvasive algorithms that improve this selection process are warranted.

We sought to evaluate the safety and the feasibility for the implementation of a novel CTA-based sizing methodology for WATCHMAN™ FLX device in a series of patients undergoing LAAC using the TruPlan™ software package.

A prospective analysis of 136 consecutive patients who underwent LAAC over a 12-month period in a single, large academic hospital in the United States was conducted. CTA-guided preprocedural planning and intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) was performed in all. Procedural success, adverse events, length of procedure, number of devices used, and length of stay were evaluated.

A total of 136 patients who underwent thodology for WATCHMAN™ FLX in LAAC was safe, feasible and associated with excellent procedural outcomes. Further studies are warranted to confirm if the features specific to TruPlan™ may reduce the number of deployment attempts, the number of devices utilized in the procedure, and the risk of complications. There is still uncertainity about the use of computed tomography-scan for left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) device sizing. The main reason for this disappointing position is likely to relate to the scarcity of robust data, since there is still difference among institutions with regards how to perform measurement of the devices. Dallan et al. report their own experience on the use of a novel computed tomography angiography-based (CTA) for sizing the Watchman Flex device for LAAO. The authors through the TruPlan software package that a preprocedural CTA sizing protocol can be applied successfully with intracardiac echocardiography guidance and provide excellent procedural outcomes. The applied CTA protocol is safe and can provide high success rates with the WatchmanTM FLX device reducing the number of deployment attempts and reducing the risk of complications.

Left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) is a form of conduction system pacing. Long-term data on the safety and performance of LBBAP 1 year postdevice implantation has not been well described.

Sixty-five patients (49% females) who received LBBAP for bradycardia indications using the SelectSecure 3830 lead (Medtronic) were retrospectively evaluated. Clinical variables were examined. Lead parameters were obtained at implant and during regular follow-up. Mean age of patients was 75.7 ± 10.1 years with left ventricular ejection fraction 59.8 ± 10.4%. Indications for pacing were atrioventricular block 55%, sinus node dysfunction 19%, tachy-brady syndrome 15%, atrioventricular node ablation 8%, and bail out cardiac resynchronization therapy 3%. Mean baseline QRS measured 120 ± 38 ms, paced QRS duration was 138 ± 22ms. Paced QRS narrowed by 24 ms in those with pre-existing left bundle branch block (BBB), increased by 1 ms in those with pre-existing right BBB, and increased by 42 ms in those with no BBB. LBBAP threshold at implant was 0.521 ± 0.153 V at 0.4 ms, and increased to 0.654 ± 0.186 V at 3 months (+26%), 0.707 ± 0.186 V at 6 months (+36%), and 0.772 ± 0.220 V at 12 months (+48%). Patients with left BBB showed the maximum benefit with QRS narrowing 24 ms. Pacing impedance remained unchanged with no procedure-related complications.

LBBAP is a durable form of conduction system pacing with pacing thresholds remaining relatively stable over 12 months post device implantation. Patients with left BBB display the narrowest paced QRS.

These networks were compared to a network formed by a computational metric widely used to assess phonological similarity (i.e., one-phoneme metric). The phonological association network and the misperception network were topographically more similar to each other than either were to the one-phoneme metric network, but there were several network features in common between the one-phoneme metric network and the phonological association network. To assess the influence of network structure on processing, we compared the influence of degree (i.e., neighborhood density) from each of the networks on visual and auditory lexical decision reaction times obtained from two psycholinguistic megastudies. The effect of degree differed across network types and tasks. We discuss the use of each approach to determine phonological similarity and a possible direction forward for language research through the use of multiplex networks.

To overcome liver failure, we focused on liver regeneration mechanisms by the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and Kupffer cells (KCs). It is known that the HSC-secreted Mac-2-binding protein glycan isomer (M2BPGi) activates KC in the fibrotic liver. However, its importance for liver regeneration of the HSCs/M2BPGi/KCs axis after hepatectomy is still unknown. The aim of this study was to clarify whether the HSC-derived M2BPGi can activate KCs after hepatectomy, and elucidate the new molecular mechanism of liver regeneration.

We examined the effect of M2BPGi on human hepatocytes and KCs, and explored secretory factors from M2BPGi-activated KCs using proteomics. Furthermore, the effect on liver regeneration of glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78) as one of the M2BPGi-related secreted proteins was examined in vitro and in murine hepatectomy models.

Although M2BPGi had no hepatocyte-promoting effect, M2BPGi promoted the production of GRP78 in KCs. The KC-driven GRP78 promoted hepatocyte proliferation. GRP78 administration facilitated liver regeneration after 70% hepatectomy and increased the survival rate after 90% hepatectomy in mice.

The M2BPGi-activated KCs secrete GRP78, which facilitates liver regeneration and improves the survival in a lethal mice model. Our data suggest that the new hepatotrophic factor GRP78 may be a promising therapeutic tool for lethal liver failure.

TMK also has pharmaceutical option value, which has attracted interests in commercial use of TMK for pharmaceutical innovation in China. However, the increased use of TMK for non-traditional purposes might lead to a change in the customary treatment of TMK as common goods of relevant communities and peoples, and may lead to significant tension faced by both providers and users of TMK in China. We find there is a significant gap in literature analysing the phenonmenon of domestic biopolitics concerning TMK in China. Closely connected problem is the contradictory relationship between providers and users of TMK, especially between the indigenous and local communities, and corporate and industrial actors. Therefore, urgent research is needed to fill this literature gap.One of the most challenging caregiving roles today is providing informal care to an individual with dementia. A new program, "AT-Home with Dementia," was created by three collaborative social service agencies to offer simple assistive technologies to persons with dementia and their informal caregivers. Staff, equipped with a traveling kit of everyday devices, offered items during home visits to enhance memory, functional activities, safety, and comfort of persons with dementia. A limited formative program review led to improvements in the new program's reach, service delivery, and data. The results showed that the program enhanced the home environment of the caregiving dyad and led to greater independence of persons with dementia (PWD) and self-assurance among caregivers. Existing community agencies may refer to this program to serve individuals with early-stage dementia. Finally, community agencies and funders may consider adapting this program to provide support to the informal care providers and PWD.
