All the costs were adjusted for inflation in 2018 U.S. dollars. The Tips From Former Smokers® campaign was conducted and the survey data were collected during 2012-2018. Analyses were conducted in 2019.

During 2012-2018, the Tips From Former Smokers® campaign was associated with an estimated 129,100 premature deaths avoided, 803,800 life years gained, 1.38 million quality-adjusted life years gained, and $7.3 billion in healthcare sector cost savings on the basis of an estimated 642,200 campaign-associated lifetime quits. The Tips From Former Smokers® campaign was associated with cost savings per lifetime quit of $11,400, per life year gained of $9,100, per premature deaths avoided of $56,800, and per quality-adjusted life year gained of $5,300.

We sought to determine the impact of the indication for shunt placement on shunt-related outcomes after major arterial injuries. We hypothesized that a shunt placed for damage control indications would be associated with an increase in shunt-related complications including shunt dislodgement, thrombosis, or distal ischemia.

A prospective, multicenter study (eleven level one US trauma centers) of all adult trauma patients undergoing temporary intravascular shunts (TIVS) after arterial injury was undertaken (January 2017-May 2019). Exclusion criteria included age <15years, shunt placement distal to popliteal/brachial arteries, isolated venous shunts, and death before shunt removal. Clinical variables were compared by indication and shunt-related complications. The primary endpoint was TIVS complications (thrombosis, migration, distal ischemia).

The 66 patients who underwent TIVS were primarily young (30years [IQR 22-36]) men (85%), severely injured (ISS 17 [10-25]) by penetrating mechanisms (59%), and control indications were not associated with shunt complications in this prospective, multicenter study.

To summarize the ultrasonographic imaging features of central mammary ductal papillary masses, this retrospective study included 56 participants. In identifying benign versus malignant lesions, the most significant indicators were angular edges and the long diameter of the tumor parallel to the duct. In the comparison of diagnostic efficacy for central mammary ductal tumors, the post-operative pathologic malignant upgrade rate of BI-RADS was 33.3%, and that of the new standard criteria was 14.2%. The angle of the wall of the tumor relative to the duct was most helpful. When BI-RADS is used to evaluate a papillary mass in a central duct, it is more accurate when the tumor is parallel to the duct than parallel to the skin.
