Curriculum mapping can be used as a tool to facilitate the development of the LPN-to-BSN pathway. LPN-centered curriculum options may be key to increasing the number of BSN nurses. [J Nurs Educ. 2022;61(11)646-649.].

Although mental health symptoms increased during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, little is known about the associations between nursing students' perceived risk of contracting COVID-19 and their academic and psychological well-being. This study examined associations between perceived COVID-19 risk, likelihood of completing nursing education, and mental health factors of nursing students.

A total of 979 nursing students completed self-report measures of perceived COVID-19 risk, anticipated academic completion, anxiety and depressive symptoms, stress, coping self-efficacy, hope, and social support.

Students with higher perceived COVID-19 risk reported increased anxiety and depression as well as decreased likelihood of graduating, coping self-efficacy, and levels of social support.

Findings indicate the need for increased mental health support for nursing students for successful completion of their programs. Educators should increase support and proactively strengthen positive psychology factors to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 and other crises on nursing students' well-being.

There is a call for leadership in every nursing role. Thus, nursing faculty must self-reflect on their leadership abilities and seek support from their surrounding resources to be successful leaders in their current and future roles.

An exploratory descriptive study was conducted to query nursing faculty's perceptions of their leadership self and means efficacy. An anonymous online survey using the Leadership Efficacy Questionnaire that measures leader means efficacy was sent to universities in the United States.

Sixty-nine faculty participated. The majority (92.8%) of respondents were women between the ages of 32 and 71 years. The participants included both diploma and university educators with varied experience. Leader action efficacy yielded a 70.4% confidence score, with leader means efficacy of 66.5% and leader self-regulation efficacy of 77.6%.

Faculty in higher nursing education must be able to lead with confidence and be supported by their respective institutions. Further research on leadership training is needed.

In most nursing schools, Holocaust and genocide studies are not part of the curriculum. However, studying past horrors involving health care professionals is essential for forming a clear moral compass to navigate future nursing practice. This article analyzes a unique Holocaust and genocide curriculum for graduate nurse practitioner students and its effects on participants.

The students wrote reflective accounts, which were analyzed using qualitative content analysis.

The studies had a profound effect on the students, who adopted a critical perspective and became more sensitive to wrongdoing and social suffering, more involved in current ethical and social issues, and more willing to engage in social advocacy. The course strengthened the moral responsibility of the students, transforming them into critical intellectuals.

Holocaust and genocide studies enhance nurses' humanistic approach and help them confront dogma, challenge social denial, and resist oppression, discrimination, and structural racism.

Higher education wants a satisfied workforce to ensure the organization reaches their stated or evolving goals; however, if faculty are dissatisfied, there can be harmful and long-term consequences on productivity and organizational outcome. This study examined nursing faculty's job satisfaction and intent to stay in universities in the United States and Canada.

This study used a nonexperimental, survey research design with correlational analysis. The sample included 746 U.S. and Canadian nursing faculty. A secondary data source from the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education also was used; the data contained responses to an online survey.

Job satisfaction demonstrated statistically significant positive relationships with personal and family policies, collaboration, tenure clarity, institutional leadership, shared governance, and engagement.

Understanding the different factors influencing job satisfaction and intent to stay is one step toward meeting the challenge of a diversified academic nursing workforce.

Support for diverse nursing students needs to be built into existing peer-mentoring programs to foster success for all students.

Students were intentionally matched in a peer-mentoring program, BUDDY-UP, on several factors, which included students' race and ethnicity (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color [BIPOC]) and gender, and whether they were first-generation.

Mentors and mentees expressed satisfaction and derived benefits from the intentionally matched mentoring program. Participant comments demonstrated that these are not just extra supports but instead are fundamental to their essential everyday needs and ability to be successful both academically and socially.

Incorporating support for all students needs to be a foundational aspect in the development of peer-mentoring programs to support the ability for all students to be successful in nursing education.

The number of people undergoing cancer screening decreased during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic may have affected the willingness and motivation of undergoing cancer screening by those eligible for it.

This study aims to clarify the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the intention to undergo cancer and esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) screening.

We performed a web-based survey on the intention to undergo screening among 1236 men and women aged 20-79 years. The numbers of participants by sex and 10-year age groups were equal. The survey was conducted in January 2021, during which the government declared a state of emergency because of the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan. Emergency declarations were issued in 11 prefectures among all the 47 prefectures in Japan.

In total, 66.1% (817/1236) of the participants felt anxious about undergoing screening due to COVID-19. More women than men were anxious about undergoing screening. By modality, EGD had the highest percentage of participants wovide correct information to examinees.

Vaccines are promising tools to control the spread of COVID-19. An effective vaccination campaign requires government policies and community engagement, sharing experiences for social support, and voicing concerns about vaccine safety and efficiency. The increasing use of online social platforms allows us to trace large-scale communication and infer public opinion in real time.

This study aimed to identify the main themes in COVID-19 vaccine-related discussions on Twitter in Japan and track how the popularity of the tweeted themes evolved during the vaccination campaign. Furthermore, we aimed to understand the impact of critical social events on the popularity of the themes.

We collected more than 100 million vaccine-related tweets written in Japanese and posted by 8 million users (approximately 6.4% of the Japanese population) from January 1 to October 31, 2021. We used Latent Dirichlet Allocation to perform automated topic modeling of tweet text during the vaccination campaign. In addition, we performnd personal vaccination experience, and the Tokyo Olympic Games disrupted public opinion but not the course of the vaccination campaign. The methodology developed here allowed us to monitor the evolution of public opinion and evaluate the impact of social events on public opinion, using large-scale Twitter data.Over the past two decades, pediatric intensive care research networks have been formed across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia/New Zealand. The U.K. Paediatric Critical Care Society Study Group (PCCS-SG) has over a 20-year tradition of fostering collaborative research, leading to the design and successful conduct of randomized clinical trials (RCTs). To date, the PCCS-SG network has delivered 13 different multicenter RCTs, covering a spectrum of study designs, methodologies, and scale. Lessons from the early years have led PCCS-SG to now focus on the entire process needed for developing an RCT, starting from robust preparatory steps such as surveys, data analysis, and feasibility work through to a definitive RCT. Pilot RCTs have been an important part of this process as well. Facilitators of successful research have included the presence of a national registry to facilitate efficient data collection; close partnerships with established Clinical Trials Units to bring together clinicians, methodologists, statisticians, and trial managers; greater involvement of transport teams to recruit patients early in trials of time-sensitive interventions; and the funded infrastructure of clinical research staff within the National Health Service to integrate research within the clinical service. The informal nature of PCCS-SG has encouraged buy-in from clinicians. Greater international collaboration and development of embedded trial platforms to speed up the generation and dissemination of trial findings are two key future strategic goals for the PCCS-SG research network.

Dry January, a temporary alcohol abstinence campaign, encourages individuals to reflect on their relationship with alcohol by temporarily abstaining from consumption during the month of January. Though Dry January has become a global phenomenon, there has been limited investigation into Dry January participants' experiences. One means through which to gain insights into individuals' Dry January-related experiences is by leveraging large-scale social media data (eg, Twitter chatter) to explore and characterize public discourse concerning Dry January.

We sought to answer the following questions (1) What themes are present within a corpus of tweets about Dry January, and is there consistency in the language used to discuss Dry January across multiple years of tweets (2020-2022)? (2) Do unique themes or patterns emerge in Dry January 2021 tweets after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic? and (3) What is the association with tweet composition (ie, sentiment and human-authored vs bot-authored) and engagement with Dry January tweets?

We applied natural language processing techniques to a large sample of tweets (n=222,917) containing the term "dry january" or "dryjanuary" posted from December 15 to February 15 across three separate years of participation (2020-2022).
