This study focused on gender education for medical and nursing students, because gender competency is essential for them to provide effective and appropriate healthcare and to promote equal rights to health. A questionnaire was administered to 50 health care professionals to explore the gender concepts and gender knowledge that they deem imperative and often teach to medical and nursing undergraduate students in class. Sexism, gender awareness, sexual harassment, the topics of three acts related to gender equity, and patriarchy are the gender concepts participants deemed most crucial for students to learn and understand. However, disparities were noted between the gender concepts frequently taught by the participants and the gender knowledge they considered essential for students. The 50 experts emphasized teaching the concept of patriarchy and the cultivation of students' structural competency in addition to identifying directions for gender, medical, and health care education. By highlighting the key gender-related concepts, the present research findings may benefit teachers who intend to integrate gender into the curriculum but are limited by time constraints. The results offer a professional development direction for teachers endeavoring to incorporate gender into the curriculum and their teaching.Traditional rigid column base connections are damaged to different degrees after an earthquake and the damage is generally nonrecoverable. Thus, the cost of repairing or dismantling is quite high. A new type of slip-friction column base connection is proposed in this paper, which aims to replace the yielding energy dissipation of the traditional column base connection by the sliding friction energy dissipation between the arc endplates, thus achieving the design objective of damage-free energy dissipation. Finite element simulation was conducted to study the hysteretic performance of the proposed connections considering different axial compression ratios. The research indicates that both kinds of the proposed connections show good energy dissipation behavior and the increase of axial compression force can increase the energy dissipation ability. It also shows that the two kinds of connections can achieve the objective of damage-free energy dissipation. For the proposed connection, future research is still needed such as corresponding tests in the laboratory, the effect of the connection on the whole structure, and the re-centering systems for the connections. The GABAergic neural circuit is involved in the motile activities of both larval and juvenile sea urchins. Therefore, its function is inherited beyond metamorphosis, despite large scale remodeling of larval organs during that period. However, the initial neural circuit formation mechanism is not well understood, including how glutamate decarboxylase-expressing blastocoelar cells (GADCs) construct the neural circuit along the circumoral ciliary band (a ciliary band-associated strand, CBAS) on the larval body surface. In this study, using whole-mount immunohistochemistry and 3D reconstructed imaging, the ontogenic process of CBAS patterning was studied by focusing on Netrin and the interaction with its receptor, Unc-5. During the early 2-arm pluteus stage, a small number of GADCs egress onto the apical surface of the larval ectoderm. Then, they line up on the circumoral side of the ciliary band, and by being inserted by a further number of GADCs, form longer multicellular strands along the Netrin stripe. Application of a synthetic peptide, CRFNMELYKLSGRKSGGVC of Hp-Netrin, that binds to the immunoglobulin domain of Unc-5 during the prism stage, causes stunted CBAS formation due to inhibition of GADC egression. This also results in reduced ciliary beating. Thus, the Netrin/Unc-5 interaction is involved in the construction and function of the CBAS.Phytophthora palmivora (Butler) is an hemibiotrophic oomycete capable of infecting over 200 plant species including one of the most economically important crops, Theobroma cacao L. commonly known as cocoa. It infects many parts of the cocoa plant including the pods, causing black pod rot disease. This review will focus on P. palmivora's ability to infect a plant host to cause disease. We highlight some current findings in other Phytophthora sp. A-196 Histone Methyltransf inhibitor plant model systems demonstrating how the germ tube, the appressorium and the haustorium enable the plant pathogen to penetrate a plant cell and how they contribute to the disease development in planta. This review explores the molecular exchange between the oomycete and the plant host, and the role of plant immunity during the development of such structures, to understand the infection of cocoa pods by P. palmivora isolates from Papua New Guinea.Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have been used in many fields due to its wide applicability. In this kind of network, each node is independent of each other and has its own local clock and communicates wirelessly. Time synchronization plays a vital role in WSNs and it can ensure accuracy requirements for coordination and data reliability. However, two key challenges exist in large-scale WSNs that are severe resource constraints overhead and multihop time synchronization errors. To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted low-consumption time synchronization algorithm based on cross-technology communication (CTC) for a large-scale WSN. This algorithm uses a UAV to send time synchronization data packets for calibration. Moreover, to ensure coverage and a high success rate for UAV data transmission, we use CTC for time synchronization. Without any relays, a high-power time synchronization packet can be sent by a UAV to achieve the time synchronization of low-power sensors. This algorithm can achieve accurate time synchronization with almost zero energy consumption for the sensor nodes. Finally, we implemented our algorithm with 30 low-power RF-CC2430 ZigBee nodes and a Da Jiang Innovations (DJI) M100 UAV on a 1 km highway and an indoor site. The results show that time synchronization can be achieved accurately with almost zero energy consumption for the sensor nodes, and the time synchronization error is less than 30 μs in 99% of cases.
