The current study sought to clarify these links by investigating whether negatively biased perceptions of maternal communication mediate links between adolescent internalizing symptoms and their feelings of guilt, shame, and guilt-induction during real-time mother-adolescent discussions. One hundred twenty-three mother-adolescent dyads participated in the study. These dyads were moderately diverse in both race/ethnicity (53% White, 29% Black, 12% Hispanic) and family income (26% earned less than $30,000/year, 22% earned more than $100,000/year) and included adolescents who ranged in age from 12 to 17 (Mage = 13.99) and were approximately half female (54%). Mothers and adolescents engaged in lab discussions about issues of conflict and guilt and rated mothers' positive and negative communication during the tasks; observers rated these same behaviors. Adolescents also reported on their general internalizing symptoms prior to the discussions and feelings of guilt, shame, and experienced guilt induction following each discussion task. Structural equation models, parceling out shared and unique perceptions of maternal communication behaviors, showed that adolescents with more internalizing symptoms reported greater feelings of shame and perceived maternal guilt-induction following the discussion, and that these associations were mediated by adolescents' unique perceptions of more maternal negativity. These findings highlight the potential role of cognitive biases in perpetuating established associations among adolescent internalizing symptoms, shame, and parental guilt-induction.Cancer is one of the most causes of death all over the world, although improvements in its treatment and recognition. Due to the limitations of common anticancer methods, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, attention has been drawn to other anti-cancer compounds, especially natural peptides such as bacteriocins. In this study, we used a combination of two bacteriocins, colicin E1 and enterocin A, against AGS gastric cancer cell lines. In order to evaluate anticancer properties of fusion peptide, we applied MTT assay, real-time PCR, and flow cytometry tests. This is the first report to show the cell growth inhibitory activity of the enterocin A in combination with colicin E1 against AGS human cancer cells. The results of this study showed that this fusion peptide at a concentration of 60.4 µg/mL and 24 h was able to kill half of the tested cancer cells, and treatment of the cells with this concentration increased the expression of bax and caspase 3 genes and reduced the expression of bacl-2 in 24 h. Flow cytometry analysis of annexin V-FITC/propidium iodide results also showed that our peptide was able to induce apoptosis in treated cells compared with control. Taken together, enterocin A-colicin E1 (ent A-col E1) can be considered as a good candidate for anticancer therapies.The enrichment of heavy metals in air-borne particulate matters poses a great threat to health. In order to understand the mineralogical characteristics and sources of heavy metals in atmospheric particulate matter in coal mining cities, PM2.5 (particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter less than 2.5 μm), PM10 (particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter less than 10 μm) and TSP (total suspended particulates) were sampled from Huainan city, China in December 2016 and May 2017. The contents of heavy metals in TSP are the highest, while those in PM2.5 are the lowest. Zn, Mn, and Pb are the main components of heavy metals in Huainan atmospheric particulates. Straw burning activities may result in relatively higher atmospheric particulate matter content in summer than that in winter. The proportion of mineral particles in the studied particulate matters was the highest (40.79%), followed by soot aggregates (35.55%) and coal fly ash (19.74%). The results of energy spectrum analysis show that the main component of soot aggregates is C, and other contents are contributed by elements such as O and Si. Coal fly ash mainly contains C, O, Si, and a small amount of Al and Na. As, Cd, and Hg are the most easily enriched heavy metals. Industrial emissions, traffic discharges, coal combustion and dust emissions were found to be the main sources of heavy metals in atmospheric particulates.Present study was carried out to explore heavy metals pollution and potential ecological risk factors associated with agriculture soil irrigated with industrial effluents of Hayatabad industrial estate, Peshawar (HIEP) and Gadoon industrial estate, Sawabi (GIES) of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan through multivariate geo-statistical tools. Diverse statistical tools like cluster analysis (HC) and principal component analysis (PCA), along with geo-statistical approaches were applied to highlight the geogenic and anthropogenic sources of pollution. The results indicated that concentration of heavy metals in target areas was significantly higher than control. Both soils had significant to moderate enrichment of heavy metals, while Gadoon soil had moderate to considerable ecological risk factor. The geo accumulation indices (Igeo) tendency for heavy metals in both target soil (Gadoon and Hayatabad) were the same. The Pb concentration of both target areas falls in the extremely severely polluted category because of the excessive presence of industries producing lead-containing products. Hence, this study indicated that the majority of toxic heavy metals contributed to soil pollution in the studied areas are coming from industrial and commercial activities.Therapeutic riding (THR) and HeartMath (HM) mindfulness-based interventions have promise for reducing stress in adolescents with autism spectrum disorder. In three 10-week periods, this study compared THR, HM, and control on salivary cortisol, self-reported stress, parent-reported social responsiveness, and heart-rate variability. This crossover design included 27 participants (12-21 years) randomly assigned to order of intervention. Findings suggest that HM and THR manualized protocols are equally beneficial in decreasing cortisol levels immediately following a session, but HM sessions had more impact on heart-rate variability. There was no significant effect on follow-up cortisol levels within a week after either intervention, but THR had more impact on decreasing some self-reported stressors.Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a major cause of acute respiratory tract infections in children and is a public health threat globally. To investigate the spatiotemporal dynamics of RSV evolution, we performed systematic phylogenetic analysis using all available sequences from the GenBank database, together with sequences from Shanghai, China. Both RSV-A and RSV-B appear to have originated in North America, with an inferred origin time of 1954.0 (1938.7-1967.6) and 1969.7 (1962.6-1975.5), respectively. BA-like strains of RSV-B, with a 60-nt insertion, and the ON1 strain of RSV-A, with a 72-nt insertion, emerged in 1997.6 (1996.2-1998.6) and 2010.1 (2009.1-2010.3), respectively. Since their origin, both genotypes have gradually replaced the former circulating genotypes to become the dominant strain. The population dynamic of RSV-A showed a seasonal epidemic pattern with obvious expansion in the periods of 2006-2007, 2010-2011, 2011-2012, and 2013-2014. Thirty fixed amino acid substitutions were identified during the divergence of NA4 from GA1 genotypes of RSV-A, and 13 were found during the divergence of SAB4 from GB1 of RSV-B. Importantly, ongoing evolution has occurred since the emergence of ON1, including four amino acid substitutions (I208L, E232G, T253K, and P314L). RSV-A genotypes GA5, NA4, NA1, and ON1 and RSV-B genotypes CB1, SAB4, BA-C, BA10, BA7, and BA9 were co-circulating in China from 2005 to 2015. In particular, RSV-A genotype ON1 was first detected in China in 2011, and it completely replaced GA2 to become the predominant strain after 2016. These data provide important insights into the evolution and epidemiology of RSV.

Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is potentially lifesaving. However, it comes with negative consequences such as impaired physical functioning, fatigue and poor quality of life. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to determine the effect of exercise and nutrition interventions to counteract negative consequences of treatment and improve physical functioning in patients receiving HSCT.

This systematic review and meta-analysis included randomised controlled trials from three electronic databases between 2009 and 2020. The trials included adult patients receiving HSCT and an exercise or nutrition intervention. Study selection, bias assessment and data extraction were independently performed by two reviewers. Physical functioning outcomes were meta-analysed with a random-effects model.

Thirteen studies were included using exercise interventions (n = 11) and nutrition interventions (n = 2); no study used a combined intervention. Meta-analysis of the trials using exercise intervention showed statistically significant effects on 6-min walking distance (standardised mean difference (SMD) 0.41, 95% CI 0.14-0.68), lower extremity strength (SMD 0.37, 95% CI 0.12-0.62) and global quality of life (SMD 0.27, 95% CI 0.08-0.46).

Our physical functioning outcomes indicate positive effects of exercise interventions for patients receiving HSCT. Heterogeneity of the exercise interventions and absence of high-quality nutrition studies call for new studies comparing different types of exercise studies and high quality studies on nutrition in patients with HSCT.

Caring for children with cancer is considerably stressful for parents and may negatively affect their physical and psychological well-being. Resilience plays a pivotal role in maintaining psychological well-being in the face of stress and adversity. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the effectiveness of psychological interventions in promoting resilience among parents of children with cancer.

Five English databases and two Chinese databases were subjected to a systematic search from inception to March 2020. The methodological quality of the included randomised controlled trials was evaluated using the Cochrane risk of bias tool (RoB 2.0). Meta-analyses and descriptive analyses were used. Subgroup analyses of the intervention modes and time since diagnosis were also conducted.
