Catheter ablation is considered as the standard treatment for all patients with symptomatic drug-refractory tachyarrhythmia. The safety and efficacy of the procedure in the adult population is well-established. Due to the small size of the patient and difficulty in attaining venous access, infants are rarely subjected to radiofrequency ablation. Here, we report a case of drug-refractory AV nodal re-entrant tachycardia in a two-year-old child. Radiofrequency ablation was performed with a 5-Fr sized medium-curve ablation catheter deployed at the slow pathway region where a fractionated A-wave with slow-pathway potential was recorded. After ablation, no recurrence of SVT at the end of 12 months of follow-up was observed.Radiofrequency catheter ablation has become the standard of care for the management of various arrhythmias and, in fact, the first-line therapy for many tachyarrhythmias. This study assessed the safety of catheter ablation (CA) with FLUORO versus without FLUORO (SANS FLUORO) in patients with the following common arrhythmias atrial fibrillation (AF), atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, and ventricular tachycardia. A total of 1,258 CA procedures were performed in 816 consecutive patients over a 53-month period (SANS FLUORO CA 609 patients; FLUORO CA 209 patients). The secondary outcome was the efficacy of AF ablation in FLUORO versus SANS FLUORO patients. Ultimately, there was no statistically significant difference found concerning the safety of CA in the SANS FLUORO and FLUORO groups in terms of procedure time, vascular complications, tamponade, stroke, or death. FLUORO patients had markedly increased FLUORO time, increased radiation exposure, and increased dose-area product (all p less then 0.0001). AF development after SANS FLUORO CA of AF was not different from that after FLUORO CA regardless of the pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) modality used (cryoablation versus radiofrequency) at 24 months (p = 0.21). Additionally, women fared just as well as men after CA ablation for AF. At 36 months, 58% of SANS FLUORO AF device patients were free from AF. As such, SANS FLUORO CA of common arrhythmias appears to be as safe as FLUORO CA but with a markedly reduced level of radiation exposure. By contrast, this Review examines an alternative tactic in which a set of attractive noncovalent interactions operating between transition metal ligands and substrates are used to control enantioselectivity. Examples where this creative approach has been successfully applied to render fundamental synthetic processes enantioselective are presented and discussed. In many of the cases examined, the ligand scaffold has been carefully designed to accommodate these attractive interactions, while in others, the importance of the critical interactions was only elucidated in subsequent computational and mechanistic studies. Through an exploration and discussion of recent reports encompassing a wide range of reaction classes, we hope to inspire synthetic chemists to continue to develop asymmetric transformations based on this powerful concept.

Few studies have tested a commonly held assumption that cyber victimization is more harmful than in-person victimization. This study examined differential longitudinal relations between in-person and cyber victimization and outcomes, including problem behaviors and distress symptoms. Possible moderation by gender and grade was also explored.

Participants were 1,542 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students (77% African American or Black; 21% Latino/a) who completed surveys in the fall, winter, spring, and summer.

The two forms of victimization combined to predict increases in physical and relational aggression, cyberbullying, and delinquency, but victimization did not predict increases in distress or substance use. There were generally no differences in the strength of relations between in-person and cyber victimization for longitudinal outcomes, although there were some cross-sectional differences.
