To analyze the oral health-related impact profile in patients treated with three different types of dental prosthesis in student courses.

This prospective bicenter clinical trial was conducted with 151 patients being treated with fixed (n = 70), removable (n = 61), or telescopic dental prostheses (n = 20) in clinical student courses of two German universities from October 2018 to October 2019. All patients completed three standardized German versions of the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-G49/53) before prosthetic treatment (T0), at control after 1 week (T1), and after 3 months (T2), divided into five dimensions (a) appearance, (b) oral function, (c) psychosocial impact, (d) linguistic limitations, and (e) orofacial pain. Data were analyzed with Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Wilcoxon signed-rank, Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney, and Cronbach's alpha tests.

Within T0-T1 and T0-T2, greater improvements were determined for removable compared with fixed dental prostheses for the dimensions' oral function (p ≤ 0.014), linguistic limitations (p ≤ 0.016), and appearance (p ≤ 0.003). No significant differences were found between fixed and telescopic dental prostheses (p ≥ 0.104) or between removable (partial dental prosthesis with clasps and complete dental prosthesis) and telescopic dental prostheses (p ≥ 0.100). Within T1-T2, a significant improvement in orofacial pain could be determined (p = 0.007).

Restorations presented an improvement in oral health-related quality of life. Removable dental prostheses showed better improvement than fixed ones in various dimensions.

Electric scooters (e-scooters) are an emerging way of mobility in cities around the world. Despite quickly rising numbers of e-scooters, limited studies report on incidence and severity of e-scooter-associated injuries. The aim of our study was to report on these injuries and identify potential protective measures to ultimately decrease e-scooter-associated morbidity.

We performed a retrospective multicentre study including all patients, who were admitted to three major trauma departments in Vienna from May 2018 to September 2019. We analysed patients' data, including demographics, injury pattern, types of injury and subsequent treatment.

A total number of 175 patients (115 males, 60 females) sustained e-scooter-associated injuries. Patients' mean age was 34.4 years [4-74]. While the mean Injury Severity Score (ISS) was 3.4, 11 patients presented with an ISS ≥ 9 and 2 patients with an ISS ≥ 16. ISS increased with age. Radial nerve palsy (RNP) associated with humeral shaft fracture (HSF) is the most common nerve complication in long bone fractures. There is still controversy over the need for immediate exploration of the radial nerve (RN) in HSF with RNP. The purpose of the current study was to determine which situations of HSF with RNP require early exploration of the RN.

This is a retrospective study that included 55 patients who had visited the emergency department of the current authors' hospital and had been diagnosed with HSF between March of 2005 and September of 2015. Of these 55 patients, 14 (25.4%) had been diagnosed with HSF with RNP. We reviewed the medical records of those 14 patients and their radiographs to evaluate each fracture's type, location, pattern, energy of trauma, status of RN injury, and time until recovery from RNP.

All the 14 RNP patients had suffered high-energy trauma. Three had fractures in the proximal third (21.4%), six in the middle third (42.9%), and five in the distal third (35.7%). The three patients (21.4%) with incomplete recovery of RNP all had proximal third fractures; two of these three patients had RN transection.

Radiomic involves testing the associations of a large number of quantitative imaging features with clinical characteristics. Our aim was to extract a radiomic signature from axial T2-weighted (T2-W) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the whole prostate able to predict oncological and radiological scores in prostate cancer (PCa).

This study included 65 patients with localized PCa treated with radiotherapy (RT) between 2014 and 2018. For each patient, the T2-W MRI images were normalized with the histogram intensity scale standardization method. Features were extracted with the IBEX software. The association of each radiomic feature with risk class, T-stage, Gleason score (GS), extracapsular extension (ECE) score, and Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS v2) score was assessed by univariate and multivariate analysis.

A multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted between February 2016 and March 2017 in five tertiary hospitals in China, and 1922 women aged 30-69 years old were recruited. Women aged 30-39 years (group A) underwent ABUS and HHUS, and women aged 40-69 (group B) underwent additional MG. Images were interpreted using the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS). All BI-RADS 4 and 5 cases were confirmed pathologically. Sensitivities and specificities of all modalities were compared.

There were 83 cancers in 677 women in group A and 321 cancers in 1245 women in group B. In the whole study population, the sensitivities of ABUS and HHUS were 92.8% (375/404) and 96.3% (389/404), and the specificities were 93.0% (1411/1518) and 89.6% (1360/1518), respectively. ABUS had a significantly higher specificity to HHor breast cancer diagnosis, and may have a potential indication for its further use in the breast cancer early detection.

An automated workflow for age- and sex-specific estimation of regional brain volume changes from structural MRI relative to a standard population is presented and evaluated for feasibility.

T1w MRI scans are preprocessed in a standardized way comprising gray matter (GM) segmentation, normalization, modulation, and spatial smoothing. Resulting GM images are then compared to precomputed age- and sex-specific GM templates derived from the population-based Nathan Kline Institute Rockland Sample, and voxel-wise z-maps are compiled. z-maps are color-coded and fused with the subject's T1w images.
