The directionality of excitation changes dramatically with a sub-nanometric displacement of the illuminating Gaussian beam across the slit and can be used for displacement and refractive index metrology. We demonstrate a theoretical intensity ratio of the BSW excitation in opposite directions exceeding 890, which provides a displacement sensitivity of up to 2.888 nm-1 with a resolution below 0.5 nm over a 100 nm linearity range. Experimentally, a directional intensity ratio more than 90 has been achieved, with a displacement sensitivity of 0.122 nm-1 over a 300 nm linearity range, resulting in a resolution below 8 nm for a 600 nm illumination wavelength. The proposed facile configuration may have potential applications in nanometrology and super-resolution microscopy.

The aim of the present study is to explore the relationship between negative relations with customers and its association with employees' burnout and general health.

Data were collected using an anonymous, self-report questionnaire employed in an Italian company working in the large-scale retail sector. The sample was composed of 610 employees (70% women) working in 28 supermarkets.

Results showed that negative customer relations were associated to higher levels of emotional dissonance (b = .25; p = .000), which in turn was associated with higher levels of burnout (b = .72; p = .017) and consequently to higher levels of poor general health (b = .03; p = .000).

Colleague incivility is one of the subtlest forms of workplace aggression, referring to any low-intensity deviant behavior in violation of the norms of mutual respect with ambiguous intent to harm the target. The meta-RR for the highest category of exposure was 1.15 (95% CI 0.72-1.83; 3 studies). The meta-RR for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) was 1.29 (95% CI 1.02-1.63; 4 studies), that for follicular lymphoma was 0.84 (95% CI 0.61-1.17), and that for chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma was 1.33 (95% CI 0.65-2.70). In March 2020, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak a global pandemic. Healthcare professionals directly involved in diagnosing, treating and caring for patients with COVID-19 are at risk of developing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

This study investigated the prevalence of PTSD among nurses working in a COVID hospital and evaluated associated factors.

A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at Crema Hospital and the Impact of Event Scale - Revised (IES-R) was administered. Data collection took place from July to September 2020, during which 275 questionnaires were distributed.

Of the total sample, 39.88% received a provisional PTSD diagnosis deserving of further analysis. Nurses stated that they were predominantly overwhelmed by intrusive thoughts (M = 1.55). Working in the emergency department during the COVID-19 pandemic (OR=2.40; p=0.02), irregular work shifts (OR=5.41; p=0.01) and coming from a mental health ward (OR=3.80; p=0.02) increased the risk of receiving a provisional PTSD diagnosis. Our findings showed significantly higher IES-R scores among women than among men (p = 0.01). The activities that caused the most distress were related to technical skills required for managing ventilation and intubation devices.

In this paper, we reviewed the types of assays currently available, to address some key aspects that characterize each technique, and might have an impact on results interpretation.
