By monomer-mediated in-situ growth synthesis strategy, with hydroquinone and 1,3,5-tris(4-aminophenyl)benzene as monomers, a core-shell magnetic porous organic polymer was synthesized through a simple azo reaction. Based on this, a magnetic solid-phase extraction-high-performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence detection method was proposed for the analysis of fluoroquinolones in a honey sample. With ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, lomefloxacin, and difloxacin as target analytes, factors affecting the extraction efficiency had been optimized. WAY-262611 supplier The LODs were 1.5-5.4 ng/L (corresponding to 0.23-0.81 μg/kg in honey). The linear range was 0.005-20 μg/L for difloxacin, 0.01-20 μg/L for ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin and lomefloxacin, and 0.02-20 μg/L for enrofloxacin. The enrichment factor was 84.4-91.7-fold with a high extraction efficiency of 84.4-91.7%. The method was assessed by the analysis of target fluoroquinolones in honey samples, and the recoveries for the spiked samples were 79.3-95.8%. The results indicated that the established magnetic solid-phase extraction-high-performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence detection method is efficient for the analysis of trace fluoroquinolones in honey.
Radiation oncology patient pathways are complex. This complexity creates risk and potential for error to occur. Comprehensive safety and quality management programmes have been developed alongside the use of incident learning systems (ILSs) to mitigate risks and errors reaching patients. Robust ILSs rely on the safety culture (SC) within a department. The aim of this study was to assess perceptions and understanding of SC and ILSs in two closely linked radiation oncology departments and to use the results to consider possible quality improvement (QI) of department ILSs and SC.
A survey to assess perceptions of SC and the currently used ILSs was distributed to radiation oncologists, radiation therapists and radiation oncology medical physicists in the two departments. The responses of 95 staff were evaluated (63% of staff). The findings were used to determine any areas for improvement in SC and local ILSs.
Differences were shown between the professional cohorts. link2 Barriers to current ILS use were indicated by 67% of respondents. Positive SC was shown in each area assessed 69% indicated the departments practised a no-blame culture. Barriers identified in one department prompted a QI project to develop a new reporting system and process, improve departmental learning and modify the overall ILS.
An understanding of SC and attitudes to ILSs has been established and used to improve ILS reporting, feedback on incidents, departmental learning and the QA program. This can be used for future comparisons as the systems develop.

Recently, we revealed VvmiR156a could involve in the modulation of gibberellin (GA)-mediated flower and berry development process of grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.). link3 However, how to manipulate this process is unclear. For this, we used the GA-induced grapevine parthenocarpy system to investigate the regulatory roles of VvmiR156a during this process. Here, we cloned the mature and precursor sequences of VvmiR156a in Wink grape and identified its potential target gene VvAGL80, which belongs to the MADS-box gene family. Moreover, using RNA ligase-mediated 5' rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RLM-RACE) and poly(A)polymerase-mediated 3' rapid amplification of cDNA (PPM-RACE) technologies, it confirmed that VvAGL80 was the true target gene of VvmiR159a. Analysis of promoter cis-elements and β-glucuronidase (GUS) staining showed that both VvmiR156a and VvAGL80 contained GA-responsive elements and could respond to GA treatments. Quantitative real-time-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) analysis exhibited the VvmiR156a and VvAGL80 showed opposite expression trends during grapevine flower and berry development, indicating that VvmiR156a negatively regulated the expression of VvAGL80 during this process. After GA treatment, the expression of miR156 in flowers was downregulated significantly, while that of VvAGL80 was upregulated, thereby accelerating grapevine flowering. Furthermore, GA treatment enhanced the negative regulation of VvmiR156a on VvAGL80 in seed, especially at the seed-coat hardening stage, which was the key period of seed growth and development. Our findings enriched the knowledge of the regulatory mechanism of the miRNA-mediated grapevine parthenocarpy process.Printability of bioinks encompasses considerations concerning rheology and extrudability, characterization of filament formation, shape fidelity, cell viability, and post-printing cellular development. Recombinant spider silk based hydrogels might be a suitable material to be used in bioinks, that is, a formulation of cells and materials to be used for bioprinting. Here, the high shape fidelity of spider silk ink is shown by bioprinting the shape and size of a human aortic valve. Further the influence of the encapsulation of cells has been evaluated on spider silk hydrogel formation, hydrogel mechanics, and shape fidelity upon extrusion based bioprinting. It is shown that the presence of cells impacts the gelation of spider silk proteins differently, depending on the used silk variant. RGD-modified spider silk hydrogels are physically crosslinked by the cells, while there is no active interaction between cells and un-tagged spider silk proteins. Strikingly, even at cell densities up to ten million cells per milliliter, cell viability is high after extrusion-based printing, which is a significant prerequisite for future applications. Shape fidelity of the printed constructs is demonstrated using a filament collapse test in the absence and presence of human cells.Inspired by previous disclosure of room-temperature ionic liquids derived from primaquine and cinnamic acids, which displayed slightly enhanced blood-stage activity compared to the parent drug, we have now combined this emblematic antimalarial with natural fatty acids. This affords surface-active ionic liquids whose liver-stage antiplasmodial activity is either retained or slightly enhanced, while revealing blood-stage antiplasmodial activity at least one order of magnitude higher than that of the parent compound. These findings open new perspectives towards the cost-effective recycling of classical drugs that are either shelved or in decline, and which is not limited to antimalarial agents.Recently published reactions of group 4 metallocene bis(trimethylsilyl)acetylene (btmsa) complexes from the last two years are reviewed. Complexes like Cp'2 Ti(η2 -Me3 SiC2 SiMe3 ) and Cp2 Zr(py)(η2 -Me3 SiC2 SiMe3 ) with Cp' as Cp (cyclopentadienyl) and Cp* (pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) have been considered (py=pyridine). These complexes can liberate a reactive low-valent titanium or zirconium center by dissociation of the ligands and act as masked MII complexes (M=Ti, Zr). They represent excellent sources for the clean generation of the reactive coordinatively and electronically unsaturated complex fragments [Cp'2 M]. This is the reason why they were used for many synthetic and catalytic reactions during the last years. As an update to several review articles on this topic, this contribution provides an update with recent examples of preparative organometallic and organic chemistry of these complexes, acting as reagents for a wide range of coordinating and coupling reactions. In addition, applications and investigations concerning reaction products derived from this chemistry are mentioned, too.
Obesity and metabolic status are both modifiable risk factors of lower urinary tract symptoms secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia (LUTS/BPH). However, the association between metabolically healthy obesity (MHO) and LUTS/BPH is largely unexplored. This study aimed to investigate the risk of LUTS/BPH among different metabolic syndrome-body mass index (MetS-BMI) phenotypes in a cohort of Chinese males.
A total of 3321 males from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) without history of LUTS/BPH at baseline were included into the analyses. Participants were categorized into six mutually exclusive groups according to presence or absence of MetS combined with BMI status metabolically healthy normal weight/overweight/obesity (MHN/MHOW/MHO) and metabolically unhealthy normal weight/overweight/obesity (MUN/MUOW/MUO). Adjusted odds ratios (OR) and 95% CI of LUTS/BPH across MetS-BMI categories were estimated with multivariable logistic regression models.
A total of 394 (11.86%) participae findings emphasize metabolically healthy individuals may still benefit from maintaining normal body weight to prevent LUTS/BPH. Our findings also support that those recommendations for LUTS/BPH should highlight the importance of maintaining metabolic health across all BMI groups among Chinese males. The volatile fraction of the leaves of Betula glandulosa Michx. has been investigated for its secondary metabolite composition by GC/MS and GC/FID. The rapid expansion of this shrub species in subarctic landscapes, like the ones found in Nunavik (Northern Québec, Canada), highly impacts ecosystem dynamics. Yet, despite its abundance, few phytochemical investigations have yet been conducted on this species. In this study, we present the first phytochemical investigation of the volatile metabolites of B. glandulosa leaves. Although no essential oil was isolated, volatile compounds were extracted from the hydrosol by steam distillation. The main metabolites observed were linalool (14.6-19.0 %), C6 oxylipins (known as green leaf volatiles, GLV; total of 18.2-40.2 %), eugenol (1.6-8.6 %) and α-terpineol (3.3-4.8 %). Dwarf birch is an important food source for insects and herbivores, so knowledge of its metabolite composition could help understand parts of its functional role in subarctic ecosystems. The composition of the volatile fraction could serve as marker for differentiating B. glandulosa from other dwarf birch species like Betula nana L.A dendrite-free and chemically stabilized lithium metal anode is required for extending battery life and for the application of high energy density coupled with various cathode systems. However, uneven Li metal growth and the active surface in nature accelerate electrolyte dissipation and surface corrosion, resulting in poor cycle efficiency and various safety issues. Here, the authors suggest a thin artificial interphase using a multifunctional poly(styrene-b-butadiene-b-styrene) (SBS) copolymer to inhibit the electrochemical/chemical side reaction during cycling. Based on the physical features, hardness, adhesion, and flexibility, the optimized chemical structure of SBS facilitates durable mechanical strength and interphase integrity against repeated Li electrodeposition/dissolution. The effectiveness of the thin polymer film enables high cycle efficiency through the realization of a dendrite-free structure and a chemo-resistive surface of Li metal. The versatile anode demonstrates an improvement in the electrochemical properties, paired with diverse cathodes of high-capacity lithium cobalt oxide (3.
