CD induces apoptosis by enhancing phosphorylation of JNK, further exploring the combination of CD and SP600125 reduced the overexpression of phosphate JNK levels. The mechanism of action of CD in 5FU on human oral cancer cells is reported for the first time and can hopeful to be a potential therapeutic agent for 5FU against human oral cancer cells.Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) function as essential regulators in the development and progression of multiple tumors. However, the molecular mechanisms of MIR31HG in regulating ESCC progression remain unknown. Here, we confirmed that MIR31HG facilitated ESCC cells proliferation in vivo. Besides, MIR31HG knockdown increases the percentage of cells at the G1 phase, along with reduced arrest in S phase and MIR31HG overexpression exhibits the opposite effects. Overexpressed MIR31HG decreases the percentage of apoptotic ESCC cells. Interestingly, MIR31HG can function as a competing endogenous RNA by sponging miR-34a. The rescue experiments demonstrated that MIR31HG function is partially reversed by inhibiting miR-34a. In addition, we found c-Met is a target gene of miR-34a and is indirectly regulated by MIR31HG. Taken together, our findings revealed that MIR31HG promotes ESCC progression by regulating miR-34a/ c-Met axis and may provide a new prospective for exploration and understanding of the biological effects of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Background and purpose Fufang-Zhenzhu-Tiaozhi Capsule (FTZ), a traditional Chinese medicine, has been shown obvious effects on the treatment of dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether FTZ can ameliorate rabbit iliac artery restenosis after angioplasty by regulating adiponectin signaling pathway. Experimental approach The rabbit iliac artery restenosis model was established through percutaneous iliac artery transluminal balloon angioplasty and a high-fat diet. Twenty eight male New Zealand rabbits (8-week-old) were divided into sham operation group (Group Ⅰ), model group (Group Ⅱ), atorvastatin group (Group Ⅲ) and FTZ group (Group Ⅳ), with 7 rabbits in each group. Vascular stenosis was analyzed with Digital Subtraction Angiography. Level of adiponectin (APN), and inflammatory factor including interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) as well as monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) was measured by Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay; and injured iliac artery was collected for Hematoxylin-eosin staining and Western Blotting detection of expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-alpha (PPAR-α), adenosine 5'-monophosphate -activated protein kinase (AMPK) and phosphorylated adenosine 5'-monophosphate -activated protein kinase (p-AMPK). Besides, we evaluated FTZ's safety for the first time. Key results Percutaneous iliac artery transluminal balloon angioplasty and high-fat diet result in inflammatory response and restenosis. Compared with Group Ⅱ, iliac artery restenosis was significantly ameliorated in Group Ⅳ (P 0.05). Conclusions and implications FTZ could effectively reduce serum lipids and ameliorate rabbit's iliac artery restenosis after angioplasty, and its mechanism may be related to activation of APN signaling pathway.Isorhamnetin is one of the most important active ingredients in the fruits of Hippophae rhamnoides L. and the leaves of Ginkgo biloba L., which possesses extensive pharmacological activities. At present, there have been numerous investigations on isorhamnetin, which has the effects of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular protection, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidation, organ protection, prevention of obesity, etc. The related mechanisms involve the regulation of PI3K/AKT/PKB, NF-κB, MAPK and other signaling pathways as well as the expression of related cytokines and kinases. Isorhamnetin has a high value of development and application. However, the investigations on its mechanism of action are limited and lack of detailed scientific validation. The manuscript reviewed the pharmacological effects of isorhamnetin and related mechanisms of action for the development of its medicinal properties further.Lentiviral vectors (LVs) have provided an efficient way to integrate our gene of interest into eukaryote cells. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-derived LVs have been vastly studied to become an invaluable asset in gene delivery. This abled LVs to be used in both research laboratories and gene therapy. Pseudotyping HIV-1 based LVs, abled it to transduce different types of cells, especially hematopoietic stem cells. A wide range of tropism, plus to the ability to integrate genes into target cells, made LVs an armamentarium in gene therapy. The third and fourth generations of self-inactivating LVs are being used to achieve safe gene therapy. Not only advanced methods enabled the clinical-grade LV production on a large scale, but also considerably heightened transduction efficiency. One of which is microfluidic systems that revolutionized gene delivery approaches. Since gene therapy using LVs attracted lots of attention to itself, we provided a brief review of LV structure and life-cycle along with methods for improving both LV production and transduction. Also, we mentioned some of their utilization in immunotherapy and gene therapy.Extreme weather events pose significant threats to urban health in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa where there are systemic health challenges. This paper investigates health system vulnerabilities associated with flooding and extreme heat, along with strategies for resilience building by service providers and community members, in Accra and Tamale, Ghana. We employed field observations, rainfall records, temperature measurements, and semi-structured interviews in health facilities within selected areas of both cities. T3 activator Results indicate that poor building conditions, unstable power supply, poor sanitation and hygiene, and the built environment reduce access to healthcare for residents of poor urban areas. Health facilities are sited in low-lying areas with poor drainage systems and can be 6 °C warmer at night than reported by official records from nearby weather stations. This is due to a combination of greater thermal inertia of the buildings and the urban heat island effect.
