Experimental results show the long-term stability of PM LFPs decoding performance of stroke rats as the trained Kalman model could be used to accurately decode force some days later which provides a possibility for online decoding system. In conclusion, our work shows that even under CFA ischemia, high-frequency power of LFPs from RFA is still able to accurately decode force signals and has long stability, which provides the possibility of BMIs for motor function reconstruction of chronic stroke patients.

Electrical impedance myography (EIM) is a recent technology to assess muscle health. As of today, the clinical application of EIM has been applied only to evaluate muscle condition using non-invasive surface electrodes in contact with the skin; however, intermediate tissues at the recording site introduce confounding artifacts which reduce the technique's performance as a biomarker of neuromuscular disorders (NMD). Here, we develop and test in humans a new approach using two concentric needles for intramuscular EIM recordings.

First, we study the recording characteristics of dual concentric needle EIM via analytical models and finite element models (FEMs). Next, the validity of the models is verified by performing experiments on saline and agar phantoms. Finally, 8 subjects with various neuromuscular diseases were studied measuring tibialis anterior, biceps, deltoid, adductor pollicis brevis, first dorsal interosseous and flexor carpi radialis muscles.

Analytical and FEM simulations are in good agreement with a maximum experimental discrepancy 8% and 9% using gauge needles 26 and 30, respectively. The inter-session reproducibility, as measured by the intraclass correlation coefficients for all muscles studied, was 0.926, which is comparable or exceeds the reproducibility of other well-established electrophysiological tests to assess muscle health.

The reproducibility of the technique support future clinical validation of needle EIM for assessment of disease status, either as part of standard patient care or as biomarker measure in clinical trials.

In order to improve the health of travellers during travel it is important to better understand the health problems faced by travellers in different destinations. The main objective of this study was to characterise the perceived health problems of travellers during and up to six months after travel on a pre-travel clinic in Lisbon, Portugal.

This is a prospective observational study. Participants were recruited among those travellers attending a pretravel clinic between May 2016 and April 2017, meeting the inclusion criteria (age over 18 years old and predicted time of stay from five to 90 days). Structured questionnaires were applied by telephone interviews, three and six months after arrival. Associations and their magnitude were sought between travel and traveller's characteristics with total and specific health problems, using multiple logistic regression models.

Out of 364 participants who completed the study, 60% were under 37 years of age, and 87.9% presented a higher educationaldegree. Africa ais nottranslated into appropriate action. Communication networks among professionals can be pathways for accelerating the diffusion of innovations if some local health departments (LHDs) drive the spread of knowledge. Such a network could prove valuable during public health emergencies such as the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. ML133 Our objective was to determine whether LHDs in the United States were tied together in an informal network to share information and advice about innovative community health practices, programs, and policies.

In January and February 2020, we conducted an online survey of 2,303 senior LHD leaders to ask several questions about their sources of advice. We asked respondents to rank up to 3 other LHDs whose practices informed their work on new public health programs, evidence-based practices, and policies intended to improve community health. We used a social network analysis program to assess answers.

A total of 329 LHDs responded. An emergent network appeared to operate nationally among 740 LHDs. Eleven LHDs were repeatedly nominated by peers as sources of advice or examples (ie, opinion leaders), and 24 acted as relational bridges to hold these emergent networks together (ie, boundary spanners). Although 2 LHDs played both roles, most LHDs we surveyed performed neither of these roles.

Opinion leading and boundary spanning health departments can be accessed to increase the likelihood of affecting the rate of interest in and adoption of innovations. Decision makers involved in disseminating new public health practices, programs, or policies may find our results useful both for emergencies and for practice-as-usual.
