This paper presents a comprehensive kinetic study of the catalytic pyrolysis of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) utilizing thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) data. Nine runs with different catalyst (HZSM-5) to polymer mass ratios (0.5, 0.77, and 1.0) were performed at different heating rates (5, 10, and 15 K/min) under nitrogen over the temperature range 303-973 K. Thermograms showed clearly that there was only one main reaction region for the catalytic cracking of HDPE. In addition, while thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) data were shifted towards higher temperatures as the heating rate increased, they were shifted towards lower temperatures and polymer started to degrade at lower temperatures when the catalyst was used. Furthermore, the activation energy of the catalytic pyrolysis of HDPE was obtained using three isoconversional (model-free) models and two non-isoconversional (model-fitting) models. Moreover, a set of 900 input-output experimental TGA data has been predicted by a highly efficient developed artificial neural network (ANN) model. Results showed a very good agreement between the ANN-predicted and experimental values (R2 > 0.999). Besides, A highly-efficient performance of the developed model has been reported for new input data as well.We aimed to investigate the management of urgent dental care, the perception of risk and workplace preparedness among dental staff in Norway during the COVID-19 pandemic. An electronic questionnaire regarding the strictest confinement period in Norway (13 March-17 April 2020) was distributed to dental staff. Among the 1237 respondents, 727 (59%) treated patients, of whom 170 (14%) worked in clinics designated to treat patients suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19. Out of them 88% (143) received training and 64% (103) simulation in additional infection prevention procedures, while 27 (24%) respondents reported deviation. In total, 1051 (85%) respondents perceived that dental staff had a high risk of being infected, 1039 (84%) that their workplace handled the current situation well, 767 (62%) that their workplace had adequate infection control equipment and 507 (41%) agreed that their workplace is well equipped to handle an escalation. Before an appointment, 1182 (96%) respondents always/often inquired per phone information if a patient experienced symptoms of COVID-19, and 1104 (89%) asked about a history of travel to affected areas. Twice as many patients on average per week were treated by phone than in a clinic. A lower proportion of dental staff in high incidence counties applied additional infection prevention measures compared to low and medium incidence counties. To conclude, urgent dental health care was managed relatively well in Norway. Additional training of the dental staff in adequate infection prevention and step-by-step procedures may be needed. These results may be used to improve the dental health service's response to future outbreaks.RNA-binding proteins control the metabolism of RNAs at all stages of their lifetime. They are critically required for the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in a wide variety of physiological and pathological processes. Rbm24 is a highly conserved RNA-binding protein that displays strongly regionalized expression patterns and exhibits dynamic changes in subcellular localization during early development. buy 6-Aminonicotinamide There is increasing evidence that it acts as a multifunctional regulator to switch cell fate determination and to maintain tissue homeostasis. Dysfunction of Rbm24 disrupts cell differentiation in nearly every tissue where it is expressed, such as skeletal and cardiac muscles, and different head sensory organs, but the molecular events that are affected may vary in a tissue-specific, or even a stage-specific manner. Recent works using different animal models have uncovered multiple post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms by which Rbm24 functions in key developmental processes. In particular, it represents a major splicing factor in muscle cell development, and plays an essential role in cytoplasmic polyadenylation during lens fiber cell terminal differentiation. Here we review the advances in understanding the implication of Rbm24 during development and disease, by focusing on its regulatory roles in physiological and pathological conditions.Herein is detailed the development and validation of an ultra-micro-scale-fractionation (UMSF) technique for the discovery of plant-based, bioactive molecules, coupling the advantages of ultra-performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS) separations with microtiter plate-based bioassay screens. This novel one-step approach simultaneously uses UPLC to collect chemical profile information, while performing high-resolution fractionation, greatly improving workflow compared to methods relying on high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), solid phase extraction or flash systems for chromatographic separations. Using the UMSF technique, researchers are able to utilize smaller quantities of starting materials, reduce solvent consumption during fractionation, reduce laborious solvent dry down times, replace costly single-use solid-phase-extraction cartridges with reusable analytical-sale UPLC columns, reduce fractionation times to less than 10 min, while simultaneously generating chemical profile data of active fractions and enjoying superior chromatographic resolution. Using this technique, individual bioactive components can be readily purified, identified, and bioassayed in one step from crude extracts, thereby eliminating ambiguous synergistic effects often reported in plant-based natural products research. A successful case-study is presented illustrating the versatility of this technique in identifying lupulone as the principal cytotoxic component from hops (Humulus lupulus L.), using a brine shrimp (Artemia franciscana) model. These results confirm and expand upon previous cell-based bioassay studies using a more complex, multicellular organism, and add to our understanding of structure-function activity relationships for secondary metabolites in hops and the Cannabaceae plant family.
