This study addresses the gap in the literature regarding the impact of nurses' personal religious and spiritual beliefs on their mental well-being and burnout. A model of the association between these factors was tested based on surveys of 207 nurses located in southeastern USA and analyzed to determine the association between religion/spirituality, mental well-being, and burnout. A path analysis supported a model in which, through its positive impact on mental well-being, religion/spirituality was negatively associated with emotional exhaustion and depersonalization and positively associated with personal accomplishment.Mental healthcare costs are rising. Community-based interventions often are being implemented without sufficient evidence for the effectiveness in terms of care and cost. In this pilot study, we evaluated the cost-effectiveness of youth Flexible Assertive Community Treatment (F-ACT) compared to treatment as usual (TAU). In total 28 adolescents (12-18 years) participated in F-ACT (N = 13) and TAU (N = 15). The outcome measures were the percentage of adolescents with a significant improvement in quality of life and Quality Adjusted Life Years (QALYs). Costs were measured using a retrospective cost-questionnaire. Outcomes were assessed at the start and after three months of care. Compared to TAU, F-ACT resulted in a significantly higher quality of life as reported by adolescents. There was no significant difference in quality of life reported by the parents. The incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) demonstrated that youth F-ACT is more effective but with higher costs. This study may help to make evidence-based decisions in terms of who benefits the most from youth F-ACT interventions.
Dopamine transporter single-photon emission computed tomography (DAT SPECT) has been widely used to diagnose Parkinson syndrome. Using the standardized uptake value (SUV) of DAT SPECT, we propose "functional dopamine transporter volume (f-DTV)" as a new quantitative index to evaluate the three-dimensional volume of functional dopamine transporters and assess its diagnostic ability in differentiating dopaminergic neurodegenerative diseases (dNDD) from non-dNDD.
Seventy-nine patients were enrolled (42 dNDD, 37 non-dNDD; 38 men; age 24-88years). We analyzed seven quantitative indices. The specific binding ratio (SBR) was calculated using a program specialized for DAT SPECT (SBR_Bolt). The SUVmax, SUVpeak, and SUVmean were calculated using a quantification program for bone SPECT. SBR_SUV was calculated by dividing striatal SUVmean by the average of background SUVmean. The cutoff value of the active dopamine transporter level was examined using three methods (threshold of 40% of SUVmax, SUV 2, and SUV 3) to carence in AUC between f-DTV and SBR_Bolt was not statistically significant.

However, the roles of circRNAs in neuroblastoma (NB) are largely unknown. In this study, we aimed to explore the function of circKIF2A in NB. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was executed to detect the levels of circKIF2A, KIF2A mRNA, miR-129-5p and polo-like kinase 4 (PLK4) mRNA. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/YM155.html Actinomycin D assay and RNase R digestion assay were conducted to analyze the feature of circKIF2A. 3-(4, 5-Dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, transwell assay and specific kits were utilized to evaluate cell proliferation, metastasis and glycolysis, respectively. Western blot assay was performed to examine the protein levels of matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2), MMP9 and PLK4. Bioinformatics analysis, RNA pull-down assay and dual-luciferase reporter assay were conducted to analyze the relationship between miR-129-5p and circKIF2A or PLK4. Murine xenograft model assay was done to investigate the role of circKIF2A in NB in vivo. CircKIF2A level was increased in NB tissue samples and cell lines. Silencing of circKIF2A impeded NB cell proliferation, migration, invasion and glycolysis. For mechanism analysis, circKIF2A could positively modulate PLK4 expression via sponging miR-129-5p. Moreover, miR-129-5p inhibition reversed the inhibitory effects of circKIF2A silencing on the behaviors of NB cells. MiR-129-5p overexpression weakened the malignant biological behaviors of NB cells by targeting PLK4. Additionally, circKIF2A knockdown hampered tumorigenesis in vivo. CircKIF2A knockdown suppressed cell proliferation, migration, invasion and glycolysis via downregulating PLK4 expression through miR-129-5p.Mortality deceleration, or the slowing down of death rates at old ages, has been repeatedly investigated, but empirical studies of this phenomenon have produced mixed results. The scarcity of observations at the oldest ages complicates the statistical assessment of mortality deceleration, even in the parsimonious parametric framework of the gamma-Gompertz model considered here. The need for thorough verification of the ages at death can further limit the available data. As logistical constraints may only allow to validate survivors beyond a certain (high) age, samples may be restricted to a certain age range. If we can quantify the effects of the sample size and the age range on the assessment of mortality deceleration, we can make recommendations for study design. For that purpose, we propose applying the concept of the Fisher information and ideas from the theory of optimal design. We compute the Fisher information matrix in the gamma-Gompertz model, and derive information measures for comparing the performance of different study designs.
