2%) and five with corticosteroids (27.8%). Five patients developed ARF. Predicted mortality was 3.48 for SCORTEN and 2.33 for ABCD-10. Eventually, four patients died (22.2%), all had ARF and none of them received active treatment. Despite study limitations and in the absence of active treatment of choice, SCORTEN behaved as a reliable predictor of mortality in patients with EN, outperforming the newer ABCD-10. ARF was an early event associated with a poor prognosis, which could represent a prognostic marker to consider in the future.

Recent investigations have evaluated the effect of the inflammatory potential of diet in several populations by calculating the Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII) score. We aimed to evaluate the association of the DII with the Healthy Eating Index (HEI), the Alternative Healthy Eating Index (AHEI), and dietary pattern (DP) among healthy Iranian adults.

A cross-sectional study was conducted among 4365 middle-aged adults. Major DPs and DII score were identified using a validated semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Poisson regression was used to evaluate the association of DPs, HEI, and AHEI across tertiles of DII.

After adjustment for confounding variables, a low HEI (HEI<55) and AHEI (AHEI<56.5) were more prevalent among the participants in the highest tertile of DII compared to the first tertile (PR 1.13, P-value <.05; PR 1.10, P-value <.05; respectively). Adherence to a balanced healthy dietary pattern was significantly lower in subjects with a diet that was more pro-inflammatory compared to those with anti-inflammatory diet (PR 0.85, P-value P<.01). No significant association was found between the DII and a western DP. High levels of HDL and hip and waist circumference were observed in the highest tertile of DII, and high levels of dietary intake of protein and fiber, minerals, fasting blood glucose, and monounsaturated fat were reported in the lowest tertile of DII.

The highest tertile of the DII (a pro-inflammatory diet) was associated with a lower HEI, AHEI, and lower adherence to balanced DP in a representative sample of adults in Iran.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the stress management interventional program in reducing occupational stress and improving coping strategies among public health nurses.

A double-blind, cluster-randomized approach was used as a randomization method for this study to evaluate the stress management interventional program.

A cluster-randomized controlled trial was carried out in eight comprehensive healthcare centres in Amman city, Jordan; four centres were randomly assigned to each experimental and control group. One hundred and seventy nurses were selected randomly from March 2019 - August 2019 and data were collected by using the Nursing Stress Scale & brief COPE over three data collection times. Both descriptive and inferential statistics (repeated measure ANOVA, Independent t test, and chi-squared) were used to answer the research questions of this study.

The results showed that both the levels of occupational stress and coping strategies were significantly different between the two sty healthcare organizations to reduce stress levels and improve coping strategies for nurses in practice.

NCT03833986.

NCT03833986.Many factors are involved in the process of nerve regeneration. Understanding the mechanisms regarding how these factors promote an efficient remyelination is crucial to deciphering the molecular and cellular processes required to promote nerve repair. Schwann cells (SCs) play a central role in the process of peripheral nerve repair/regeneration. Using a model of facial nerve crush injury and repair, we identified Annexin A1 (ANXA1) as the extracellular trigger of SC proliferation and migration. ANXA1 activated formyl peptide receptor 2 (FPR2) receptors and the downstream adenosine 5'-monophosphate (AMP)-activated protein kinase (AMPK) signaling cascade, leading to SC proliferation and migration in vitro. SCs lacking FPR2 or AMPK displayed a defect in proliferation and migration. After facial nerve injury (FNI), ANXA1 promoted the proliferation of SCs and nerve regeneration in vivo. Collectively, these data identified the ANXA1/FPR2/AMPK axis as an important pathway in SC proliferation and migration. ANXA1-induced remyelination and SC proliferation promotes FNI regeneration.

A sense of place (SOP) is defined as the emotional bonds, values, meaning, and symbols attached to a place.

To assess SOP of patients with cancer during end-of-life care at home (home-hospice service) versus at a hospital in relation to place of care, social support, and emotional distress.

Participants were 150, stage IV, cancer patients with a life expectancy of less than 6 months, as defined by oncological staff, who were not receiving any life-prolonging care. Seventy-five patients received care at home (home-hospice), and the other 75 received care at the oncology department at the hospital, by palliative unit staff. Participants completed the Brief Symptom Inventory anxiety and depression subscales, questionnaires on perceived support and both questionnaires on home SOP and hospital SOP.

Mean scores of emotional distress were similar for patients in home-hospice and at the hospital. GDC-0199 Home SOP among individuals receiving care at home was high, and hospital SOP was high among hospitalized individuals. The structural equation model had good fit indexes, showing that each of the SOP variables mediated the association between place of care and emotional distress. Perceived support was associated with lower distress only in the hospital setting.

The SOP concept is relevant to understanding emotional distress in relation to place of care at end of life. Strengthening SOP in relation to place of care should be considered. As newly introduced concept regarding place of care at the EoL, SOP warrants further research.
