Critically, scenes were now shown either from the same or different viewpoint compared with encoding. This resulted in a memory-by-view design (target seen/unseen x same/different view), which allowed us teasing apart the role of allocentric vs. egocentric signals during memory-guided attention. Retrieval-related results showed greater search-accuracy for seen than unseen targets, both in the same and different views, indicating that memory contributes to visual search notwithstanding perspective changes. This view-change independent effect was associated with the activation of the left lateral intra-parietal sulcus. Our results demonstrate that this parietal region mediates memory-guided attention by taking into account allocentric/scene-centered information about the objects' position in the external world.

We summarize the history of the clinical high-risk stage of psychosis (CHR), current research on this stage and recent critiques of the field, and evaluate current CHR guidelines and frameworks.

Following its identification and characterization, CHR services have successfully been developed in North America, Europe, Australia and elsewhere. As reflected in guidelines, these services and their orientation largely emerged as an outgrowth of the framework pioneered by early intervention services for first-episode psychosis. We critically discuss what is known so far about the subjective experience of the CHR syndrome, the meaning of this "unofficial" diagnosis as well as what is known and unknown about the service-related needs. While a range of outstanding questions remain in the field, there is a particular need for patient-oriented work and to investigate the service-related needs of young people at CHR.

This article will review current evidence related to the use of dexmedetomidine as an adjuvant for regional anesthesia.

Adjuvants, frequently used during regional anesthesia, act synergistically with local anesthetics thus enhancing the quality of regional anesthesia while minimizing adverse effects. These adjuvants may be administered via different routes including topical, perineural, neuraxial, and systemic. Recent studies indicate that dexmedetomidine prolongs the duration of intravenous regional anesthesia, peripheral nerve blocks, and spinal analgesia. Controversy regarding potential neurotoxicity of perineural dexmedetomidine in patients with diabetic neuropathy requires further evaluation.

The objective of the current systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate the association of SLE with the different subtypes of hearing loss. This systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted in agreement with the PRISMA guidelines. The review protocol was registered in the PROSPERO international prospective register of systematic reviews ( https//www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/display_record.php?RecordID=216353 ). A random effects model meta-analysis was carried out while heterogeneity was appraised by I2. AMI-1 nmr Subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis were also performed. Nine studies comprising 7,654 SLE patients and 37,244 controls were included in this systematic review. Four of them were rated to a moderate rate of bias, while five of them were rated to a low rate of bias. SLE patients had significantly increased odds of sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) compared with controls (OR 2.31; 95%CI 1.48-3.60; I2 = 0). SLE patients did not have significantly increased odds of Conductive Hearing Loss (CHL) (OR 1.30; 95% CI 0.23-7.45; I2 = 0). Only one study reported on the outcome of Mixed Hearing Loss (MHL) (3 events in SLE group vs. 0 events in control group). Subgroup analysis, based on study design and detection method of hearing loss also showed significantly increased odds of SNHL in SLE patients. The significantly increased odds of SNHL in SLE persisted even after sensitivity analysis. In conclusion, SLE is significantly associated with SNHL; SLE is not associated with CHL, while, due to lack of data, we could not reach a conclusion regarding the odds of MHL in SLE patients. Pure tone audiometry as a screening test and follow-up test in SLE patients could be of essence. Management and prognosis of hearing loss in SLE patients should be discussed.

Forecasting models for intensive care occupancy of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients are important in the current pandemic for strategic planning of patient allocation and avoidance of regional overcrowding. They are often trained entirely on retrospective infection and occupancy data, which can cause forecast uncertainty to grow exponentially with the forecast horizon.

We propose an alternative modeling approach in which the model is created largely independent of the occupancy data being simulated. The distribution of bed occupancies for patient cohorts is calculated directly from occupancy data from "sentinel clinics". By coupling with infection scenarios, the prediction error is constrained by the error of the infection dynamics scenarios. The model allows systematic simulation of arbitrary infection scenarios, calculation of bed occupancy corridors, and sensitivity analyses with respect to protective measures.

The model was based on hospital data and by adjusting only two parameters of dmodels and scenarios, and thus can be used both for load forecasting and for sensitivity analyses for expected novel spreading and lockdown scenarios.

The aim of this study was to explore specific factors that predispose to monozygotic twinning (MZT) at the blastocyst stage.

This was a retrospective observational study of a cohort of 2863 pregnancies after single blastocyst transfer (SBT) between January 2011 and June 2019 in our hospital. MZT pregnancy was identified as the number of fetuses exceeded the number of gestational sacs (GSs) by transvaginal ultrasound at 6-7 gestational weeks. The incidences of MZT regarding the maternal age at oocyte retrieval, paternal age, ovarian stimulation protocol, fertilization method, endometrium preparation protocol, vitrified day, and the Gardner grading of the blastocyst were calculated. Over the last decade, LAB have frequently been used as a platform for the delivery of various RV antigens to the mucosa. Given the appropriate safety profile for neonates and providing the benefits of probiotics, recombinant LAB-based vaccines could potentially address the need for a subunit RV vaccine. The present review focuses mainly on different recombinant LAB vaccine constructs for RV and their potential as an alternative recombinant vaccine against RV disease.Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis/anterior limb of the internal capsule (BNST/ALIC) is successfully used for treatment of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Clinical and experimental studies have suggested that enhanced network synchronization in the theta band is correlated with severity of symptoms. The mechanisms of action of DBS remain unclear in OCD. We here investigate the effect of acute stimulation of the BNCT/ALIC on oscillatory neuronal activity in patients with OCD implanted with DBS electrodes. We recorded the oscillatory activity of local field potentials (LFPs) from DBS electrodes (contact + 0/- 3; bipolar configuration; both hemispheres) from the BNST/ALIC parallel with frontal cortical electroencephalogram (EEG) one day after DBS surgery in four patients with OCD. BNST/ALIC and frontal EEG oscillatory activities were analysed before stimulation as baseline, and after three periods of stimulation with different voltage amplitudes (1 V, 2 V and 3.5 V) at 130 Hz. Overall, acute high frequency DBS reduced oscillatory theta band (4-8 Hz; p  less then  0.01) but increased other frequency bands in BNST/ALIC and the frontal cortex (p  less then  0.01). We show that stimulation of the BNST/ALIC in OCD modulates oscillatory activity in brain regions that are involved in the pathomechanisms of OCD. Our findings confirm and extend the findings that enhanced theta oscillatory activity in neuronal networks may be a biomarker for OCD.
